- Columbia University has asked the NYPD to remain on campus through May 17 after officers cleared a building that had been occupied by protesters. Hundreds have been arrested across the country and schools are preparing for the possibility of more pro-Palestinian protests forming.

I really have to wonder if any American universities would react in so violent a way against peaceful protests on their campuses if the protests concerned any country other than Israel. Especially since the precedent already was set with South Africa that universities will listen to the demands of their students and faculties and divest of investments in companies that support oppressive governments.
I think theonlyother country that American universities would protect against criticism on their campuses is China, and probably for the same monetary enrichment they receive from the country that the universities do not want to lose.
It just shows how deep the corruption of American institutions has gotten when the country's bastion of free thought - the nation's universities - are willing to throw their principles in the toilet when defending those principles jeopardizes the flow of money into the university.

@@janh5199The encampment at Columbia did not obstruct the business of the university or damage any property. And the university was quick to say yesterday that the protesters who took over the building on campus for the most part were not even students at the school, and not leaders of the encampment.
This has NOTHING to do with Israel. A handful of people there may be think that. This is about causing disruption in the United States by the same people who have come out to wreak havoc and destruction for the last four years, appropriating causes ranging from George Soros, to Dodds, to gay rights. The American people are sick of it.
And if you want to defend this type of rioting, which is not the same as a protest, then I can assure you the American people will be sick of you too.
