    I loved my 2011 Mazda2. Just traded it this past Spring on a Honda Fit. I wish Mazda would have continued selling the 2. Had the Yaris hatch been available in April, I'd have purchased it. I would have just called it a Yaris2.

    i saw this 2020 next to a Mazda nearly the same overall look! my co worker has this car an din white its very nice to look at, solid, leather steering wheel wrap, LED lights and LOADED for $17,500:) The outside looks VERY small until your inside, im 200 lbs and its roomy and handles IMO like a sports car, i can beat anyone on a bicycle or any joggers. You buy this ca because its reliable, EXCELLENT MPG and its SEXY in person, gives the MIATA competition, both are small cars but this car has two legal rear seats. The HANDLING when you add the engine cross strut is GO kart on rails, not the speed! This car rates as a 9 on my score:) Its a ten if you buy it new fully loaded for $17,000!

    I don’t know why they keep calling this a Toyota Yaris when in reality it is a Mazda 2 with a Toyota label, a model that is over 5 years old. Toyota is trying to trick people telling them it’s a new Yaris. Meanwhile the UK gets the real Toyota Yaris 2020. I don’t know why Toyota is doing this with Mazda and the new Supra BMW. • @MyRealName
      @MyRealName 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      So when you hear someone compare a car to a go kart the first thing you imagine is a ton of power? It's a reference to handling, and while many regular Toyotas don't have such handling, this Mazda seemingly does..

    • @manfromnantucket9544
      @manfromnantucket9544 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@MyRealName my comment about the engine had nothing to do with preceived handling, however shopping cart like it may be. The 1.5 has gone vertically unchanged for over a decade and it's high time they address that. 106hp just isn't cutting it anymore, even for a subcompact.

    • @no-barknoonan1335
      @no-barknoonan1335 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@manfromnantucket9544 Why would you need more power, on an entry level budget car? If you want more power, get a Corolla, or even better a Camry. Putting a larger engine, is going to decrease MPG, and it's going to raise the manufacturing price, which defeats the point of this car. Its a budget car, for budget buyers.
      TBH, the average person gets a car with way too much power, for their needs. They overspec like crazy, which wastes more fuel, and results in higher prices for purchasing and maintenance. Car prices are outrageously high, and its the consumers fault bc they keep expecting heaven and earth, bells and whistles they don't need.
      Look up how much a Ford Model T cost anywhere between 1916 and 1929, and use an inflation calculator to adjust it. Even MSRP for the model T, was under 12k once adjusted for inflation, and most sold for far below that. Adjusted for inflation, the entry level Model T typically sold for under $300 between that time, reportedly as low as $260 in that days money. Adjusted for inflation, thats below $4,500 or less in todays money.
      We spend too much on cars, we've forgotten what a budget car is. There's no need for massive engines and unnecessary features, on budget cars. If you want bells and whistles, get the higher end car.

    • @manfromnantucket9544

      @@no-barknoonan1335 My point is that the car's gone on for over 15 years without an engine update. It was fine in 2006 but times have changed and it's no longer competitive in the segment anymore.

      @no-barknoonan1335 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@manfromnantucket9544 Dude, naturally aspirated engines haven't changed much at all in the last 30 years. I'd say probably since fuel injectors became standardized, engines haven't really changed at all for most cars.
      I have a 1991 Nissan Sentra, with a 1.6 liter engine, and a 2015 Nissan Sentra, with also a 1.6 liter engine. Its the same exact engine, just updated. It gets the exact same MPG, and the HP difference is minor and due more to the transmission, and all the minor efficiency increases outside the combustion chamber. Such as more efficient air intake, more efficient exhaust system, and a computer that can round out the efficiency curve out a bit more. The engines are nearly identical, even visually.
      I'm not really sure what point you're trying to get at tbh. I've driven cars built in the 1930's, with flathead V8's. I recommend if you ever have the chance, you drive a real old car, and afterwards pop the hood. The engines haven't really changed all that much.
      Engines are now fuel injected, rather than carburated. Fuel injected production cars existed as early as the early 60's, so even that's not as new as one would think. Our transmissions are almost solely CVT's or automatics, traditional automatics have existed since the 1950's. Catalytic converters became standardized in the 70's I think? Suspension has changed, we left leaf springs behind for coils. Thats not even that major tbh. And disc brakes are now more popular than drum brakes. Steering is all power steering now, rather than manual before. These are all honestly really minor changes. Yeah cars have computers and sensors everywhere, that doesn't really change much.
      Considering we're going on 90 years since then, not much has changed for naturally aspirated cars. So not sure what you expect here.
