I once wrote up, passed around and won a petition to stop the company I worked for from abusing pigeons that lived in the building. Really great birds that I respect a lot.

      PIGEONS DESPERATELY NEED HELP !!
90% of pigeons in cities die in their first year of their lifes. The others don't live longer than 2-3 years.
In nature, they can live up to 12-15 years !
They have nothing to eat, they are forced to eat trash and they freeze to death.
Pigeons can NOT live naturally in cities. They are only here because of breeders !

    • @tjp_real
      @tjp_real 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

@Bird Man yes, but that doesn't mean that they can eat trash. They will get sick and die. They only do that because they have nothing to eat and they are starving to death. Yesterday, i saw a pigeon eating a cigarette filter on the street. That's how desperate and hungry they are. He will die, because their stomach can't digest it. So sad, F up but true.

    • @tjp_real

@Bird Man that's true. That's what I read. I can't confirm it, because i have no evidence and I don't know. But i have seen pics posted about pigeons who frozen to death at cold nights.

@Bird Man yeah that makes sense. I can only tell you what I read. I don't know if it's true. But at the same time, i don't know why they would lie about that.

All anybody would have to do is spend a little time with them, feed them, give them some water and earn their trust. At that point anybody with a heart, a soul, or at least the powers of observation that God gave a turnip would begin to see that they really are quite remarkable. The water is actually more important than the food in some areas like the southwest, where I live. Most places used to have sprinklers, and lots of parks had fountains, but now all of that is gone. It's difficult for them to stay clean, and then people hate them because they're dirty. I put out pans of water for them every day, and they crowd around and push each other out of the way so they can splash around and get cleaned up and cooled off. They're no different from us. They don't like being dirty and nasty any more than we do. I have seen this with my own eyes for years. No mystery at all. Wherever there's water, you'll see clean, healthy pigeons and many of them are very beautiful and friendly.

@@rawpresence856 I have a push broom with very stiff bristles and a hose with a pressure nozzle. It takes about 10-15 minutes twice a week to keep my sidewalk looking good. I'd be doing that anyway even if there were no pigeon's at all.
I also feed them near the cactus and palm tree. The poop fertilizes the soil and the palm tree and cactus are looking great.
I also catch the bugs in the bathtub in the morning and put them outside. I can do that because I take my trash out then, and the bugs will stay in the dumpster because there's more food in there than there is my house.
I guess I need to learn to hate and kill and be angry, huh? That way I'd fit in better with the culture and the times.

@@jpalberthoward9 my point is we don't all have gardens. Some of us only have a balcony which these flying rats constantly shit on and feathers all over the balcony floor. I do have a pressure washer because of this problem. And got to clean the balcony every other day. The noise of the pressure washer is disturbing my neighbours. So there's other situations for others face, unlike yourself. I'm not living to clean pigeons poo and feathers. Especially not even getting paid for it. Pigeons are dirty and a nuisance.

@@twhis9843 your neighborhood sounds like mine used to be, but we're in the transition of "urban renewal". In English, that means that all of the cheap places to live are either being torn down or gentrified, all the cool stores, diners, bars, and little independent mom & pop shops have been rennovated into silly trendy boutiques, and urban hipster snobs who complain about everything in the universe, (including pigeons) have taken over. So having said that, I can empathize with your situation.
But my little buddies remain, and are still awesome. Some of the aforementioned trendy urban hipsters have actually stopped, observed the appearance and condition of my little pals and admitted that they were wrong about their outlook towards them, and have also complimented me on the care I give them. Several people also donate bags of dry cat food and birdseed from time to time.
I think there's a positive effect in having clean, healthy pigeons around because they have started some great conversations, and caused more than a few people to change their minds about them, once they see a few nice ones up close and personal.
About a year ago, this one guy was stomping down the street, obviously very upset and angry. He looked like he was on his way to commit mayhem on somebody, but he noticed the birds, and he stopped and talked to me for a little while.
After about 15 minutes he told me he was on his way to f**k somebody up, but because he stopped and talked to me, he cooled off. Then he said there was something about the birds that helped him get a grip, and he turned around and went back home.
I never found out what he was upset about, and I haven't seen him since, but I think maybe the birds and I might have helped to prevent something terrible from happening that day. They seem to have a relaxing effect on some folks. Another guy said I should start a combination bird sanctuary and mental hospital. I could call it...."Wing Nuts".
In any case, this is much more than a hobby or a passing phase for me, I'm signed up for life.

@@rawpresence856 When was the last time a pigeon told lies about you behind your back? Or broke into your house and stole your valuables? Or formed a multi billion dollar corporation and swindled millions of people out of their life savings? Or started wars halfway around the world and killed hundreds of thousands people who never harmed anybody?
When was the last time a pigeon sold heroin or crack to kids? Or kidnapped and raped and murdered a little kid? When was the last time a pigeon dumped hundreds of thousands gallons of toxic sludge into the ocean, or devastated millions of acres of forests to get whatever was in the ground? Tell me all about the pigeons who looted and burned Seattle and Portland last year, and then knocked over 80 year old grannies and beat them with bike locks.
Don't you think that on balance, the minor infractions of pooping and shedding a few feathers pales in comparison to the atrocities that humans are capable of committing?
I would suggest that if you're going to be pissed off at the pigeons, perhaps you might want to take a look at your own species, and re-examime your priorities.

I rescued a baby pigeon that got knocked out of our tree in a storm. I kept trying to release him, he didn't want to go, so I got him a huge cage. He was one of the most fabulous pets I've ever had, so smart, and hilarious.
And then our house burned to the ground this summer when I was out.. he died. I've looked at other birbs, but I cannot get over him. I'll probably get another Jakey.
I just adored him. He loved gadgets! I couldn't keep him away from my computer, or my phone, he liked sending messages, he could do stuff on my laptop I couldn't even do! He liked obnoxious music, and he knew how to hit a button and pull up his favorite song! Unbelievably, MOREART! LOL😎
I got him his own ipad and he liked to watch people, podcasts etc, but with people, and from there he would harass his captives, trying to eat their earrings or buttons off. He loved being groomed, getting a shower, being blow dried, getting lotion on his feet, he put up with getting his nails filed.
He loved his oatmeal cookies, and salad, and all sorts of rices, quinoa, fruits and veggies, he had a seed collection of all sorts of good stuff.
Maybe he was a little spoiled. He only got to live about a year, but in that year he was absolutely adored every day!
I miss him very much ✨🕊✨
I would recommend this birb to anyone seeking a pet birb, they don't scream, they're very laid back, calm, and very nosey. They like to know exactly what you're doing at all times! They're wonderfully loyal💕 they'll follow you where ever you go, and hang out with you. They know how to put themselves to bed, but they like YOU to do it, all you have to do is say "nest" and just point at their home, they'll head on in there, usually.
I got so lucky to experience of these birbs close up. I wish I could have him back. Miss you little Jakey!✨🕊✨

They truly are wonderful, loyal companions. I greeted a young pigeon on my 10th floor balcony ledge last week.. She flew in once I went inside and has refused to leave since. The world is her oyster, yet she seemingly has chosen to stay with me.. We have bonded and trained and learned and grown so much in less than a week--beyond what seems typical for a "wild" outdoor pigeon, judging by my continued research...
While I believe I am especially blessed with the natural personality and intelligence of this particular bird, I have had dozens of pets of various species--including 3 cats and a dog currently--but I have never felt so loved by, and connected with, an animal friend this quickly before. They are seriously brilliant beings, and if you treat them with love, respect, and patience, they will be some of the best people (feathered or otherwise) in your life. 😊🤍🪶

Monica hi. in Russia, many people, especially girls and women, hate pigeons.we have a lot of media reports that they transmit infection and all viruses and people believe in it.I feed wild pigeons for a very long time, but not all in a row, but those who by nature or appearance I liked.I even had one dove who allowed herself to be kissed and for me she became my girlfriend.more than one dove didn't let me kiss anymore.but everyone is allowed to hug.pigeons are very cute birds and they trust people very much.scientists say that they help a person's psyche and physical body.he has stomach ulcers, headaches pain, asthma and other.psychics write that they restore a person's energy. these are the birds they are.I personally noticed that if a girl hates pigeons, then she is a bad person and she is closed to relationships and love or mentally or physically ill.the same girls who love these birds, they are kind and open people.well, hello to you from Russia.I love girls who love these birds.

I live in Toronto and about a year ago my dog injured one of the pigeon, it broke my heart so i took the pigeon home took care of it for 4 days and then released it back in the same park along with the 18kg of the bird seed that i had bought for it. Since that day I'm known as the bird lady in my neighborhood bcz i feed them every single day for over a year. I've gotten written complain and warnings from my condo building management, as soon as I step out of my building like hundreds of the pigeons escort me to the dog park and follow me back. Both my dogs know not to ever harm pigeons or squirrels. But what amazes me is that when i started feeding them it was during the summer and then i started wearing a winter parka and the pigeons recognized me. Sometimes hold food in both my hands and pigeons will come and start eating from both my hands, 3 from each hand and will start fighting one another.
Thank God they cant fly uo to my 45th floor and invade my balcony.

These birds will fly like a normal pigeons then suddenly will start to roll backwards down for several feet. Then there is the Tumblers. These birds are really weird. They will be flying in a flock then start to tumble backwards down almost to the ground. I have heard in some instances where the unfortunate bird tumbled to it's death on the ground.

She went from liquid baby bird food in a large silicone boba straw, to peas, to picking up her own millet and crumbs. We assumed she would fly away once she got her wings. Nope. She naps on the sheepskin rug with the dogs, and goes outside with them, flying around the neighborhood to keep up with them. Sits on a stool on the back porch to be let in. She is outside for at least an hour every day on her own. She seems to simply choose to stay and is entirely welcome. We are her flock!

hey guys! ever wonder why pigeons always nest on house roofs? it's because humans cut down the pigeons trees aka the pigeons home. so humans destroyed the pigeons home so why can't the pigeon destroy the humans home? after all the pigeon has no home now. what comes around goes around!.

I have mourning doves nesting above my front porch door and this is the second year they have came back to nest there before it was a smaller brown bird I think a thrush but not sure, all I know it was small and brown. I say hi to the male when I leave in the morning because males have the day shift sitting on the eggs and female at night. He knows I mean no harm to him he just blink and look at me. That pair has already had 2 babies about a month ago and now sitting on another 2 eggs. So sad to see them leave, I have grown attached them and when fall comes I won't see them until next spring I hope!

Some pegion species can fly above 10000 feet from the earth. They are flying above rainy clouds. Then we can’t see them. Sometimes they can’t find the home and they never come back.

I don't understand why people hate pigeon. Like you hate them cause they shit and she'd feathers here and there, bruh they are BIRDS, what do you expect them to do ? Go to the bathroom and shit? As if they are quite experienced. You have to teach and train them just like you train dogs and cats . Abut shedding feathers, it's how they are , they shed their feathers every month cause the old ones become really dusty or get torn because the end part lik the tip of the end gets detached from their muscles, it is a normal and good thing that they are shedding feathers. And if anyone says that"YoU dOn'T kNoW AnYtHiNG CaUsE yOU dOn'T hAVe a PeT pigeon" Then shame on you I have a pigeon and she is well mannered.
(And if you still have any doubt, ask or if ya wanna fight then I' m sorry I got better buisness to do then fight with you people who can't ever understand and think logically for once. PEACE')

An AI channel. AI is mostly genius, but so geeky and doesn't have consciousness. It said pigeons live 30 years in the wild which is incorrect. About 3 years in the wild and maybe 6 years in captivity taking good care of it, but I haven't ever seen that observation nor done it yet for they're clever and will never accept being caught and held captive unless you can get a baby. If AI keeps making critical mistakes like that, then it's going to cause serious problems for it's going to be driving, flying, and every sort of white collar management job as well as knowledge worker jobs. An AI CEO and all the jobs are fixing to replace human employees by just 2030 so it'll kill us off canceling humanity itself if we don't get it right though a wrong answer in a school classroom won't destroy the world.

    • @tjp_real

@Jeremy Pepler yes they get eaten by hawks etc. But the point is, how much they can live vs how little they live and suffer in cities due to their horrible living conditions.
