Taz honestly is one of the greatest minds in the business - used to love his podcast (sorry radio show!). Really just comes across as a real stand up guy since his ECW days. Great video.
I remember watching you on tough enough. I was team maven from start to finish. I met you in Springfield, Ohio when i was a senior in high school. You are a very nice guy. Thanks for the memories, Maven. ❤❤❤
I commented this on one of your older videos but man I cant believe you never became some sort of TV host. You seem to do a better job than most TV hosts effortlessly.
I loved this video “that is when I realised, I was truly living a dream” I can imagine the beautiful feeling of standing there and listening to a crowd cheering for you
I was 12 when you debuted and I watched Tough Enough weekly. I was rooting for you and remember feeling terrible about how they treated you on TV at the beginning.
I just want to say I really enjoy your content. I'm more of a casual wrestling fan, but you're just a good presenter. Seeing this video in my recommendations put a smile on my face after a stressful day at work. Hope you are enjoying the experience as much as your audience. All the best to you, Maven!
Maven, your podcasts are truly exceptional. The depth of knowledge, honesty, and clarity with which you explore the intricacies of the business, along with the added insights you provide, set a new standard in the industry. Your channel is redefining the landscape of professional wrestling podcasts. You are in a class by yourself my friend... AWESOME Job..
@MavenKHuffman I always thought that was kinda rude, showing ads during your entrances. It sucks especially if the person does something unique during their entrance and it gets cut off.
Wierdly enough my youtube autoplay randomly banged on a clip from mummy returns earlier. Not a clue why. God Brendan Fraser used to be a right handsome bugger #nohomo. Makes me feel old
😂 I remember this event! I live in Biloxi, Mississippi which is 30 minutes away from Mobile. Not much to do here so we went to every WWE event at the MS Coast Coliseum and the Mobile Civic Center. I had no idea that was your first event. We were all excited to see you though as we all followed tough enough. It was a great show though overall! Crazy to hear the story behind an event I attended though. I’m trying to remember if you came to Biloxi? Fun fact Biloxi is the city where they credited the start of DX on Raw when Rude joined. What a great memory! Who the person you were most nervous to meet or work with in WWE? Thanks again for the great content!
Hey Maven, a fan here. Now 1 year ago today my life would change forever when I find your TH-cam channel that would give hours of endless entertainment. Thank you sir
I love these videos, man! I actually was never a big wrestling fan but now in my 30s I love seeing these behind the scenes videos. It's such an underappreciated art where you all are putting your bodies and lives at risk.
I watched it when it premiered! I was your biggest fan bro!!! I rooted for you all the way! I wanted you to hit the heights of Rock! I was a Maven fan to my core!!!
Maven thank you for this video, it's great to hear you tell all the little details about what it was like as a rookie. It makes wrestling more relatable, I really enjoy your videos.
Show us how you worked out on the road. Would you do a split. Would you circuit, do the big muscles. How did you practice your signature moves. Drop kicks and such on the road. How would you workout having an injury or being 'hurt' for couple weeks. Etc :)
How did I get here so early, is amazing lol. Great video! I remember watching you on Tough Enough as a kid and seeing you throughout your career. Glad to see you doing amazing things with this channel!
I think WWE should bring back The Mave for a short feud with The Miz. It'd be the Tough Enough champion vs. the Tough Enough runner-up who wound up having a pretty darn solid career. Nidia could make a cameo by popping up long enough to kick The Miz in the ding-ding and securing the W for The Mave.
My favorite part of this video, is when you pulled out the videotape to show the piece of footage from your first match of Tazz messing up his cue to lie down for you to pin him, after you did the first dropkick. Like you said, WWE edited that part out so cleverly, to the point where it looks like it never happened.
That first shot wasn’t an over sell at all. It was actually a brilliant move. Your first match first time getting popped. Make sense it would be a wake up moment for a rookie. Good sell
Wow! Taz is a real one for sure. Im glad he got at least one good lick in, to break you in 😂 I know a lot of people are saying that it's bad that the vets gave Maven a hard time for winning Tough Enough, but every single one of you would feel the same exact way if you were in their shoes. If you have a long term, skill job, imagine your company hired someone with almost no experience, gave them a big bonus, and put them directly at your level in the "hierarchy". Im a pretty chill guy, but I think I'd be a little upset.
There is no NXT or “home grown talent” without Tough Enough first, and now, 23 years later, the entire industry has shifted away from the minor league promotions to perfecting video game moves in the performance center. You and Nidia were trailblazers and the old guard knew it.

This shows that you don't need to be a main eventer or a world champion to have as much if not more wild of a journey as the other wrestler.
