Or certain behaviours that we see backstage from certain wrestlers that either is them in character or it gets too real. I met Kevin Nash and Shawn Michaels at a Motel 6 in Harrisonburg Virginia in the early 90s. I was 15 years old and working as a desk clerk. Both him and Kevin were actually really nice to me. They were very kind to our housekeepers and actually gave her a $50 tip each. They couldn't believe that I was working at 15 years old and they were super nice, even coming down to the desk to check on me.

Absolutely not. Maven is one of the nicest and most professional wrestlers I've listened to. I bet he'll get bigger names on the show just because he's such a nice guy
When I was a kid I met Goldberg at an autograph signing at a Fiesta Supermarket in Houston during his first run in WWE. We had him sign the game manuals for WCW Mayhem, and Backstage Assault. He was awesome to us and even made small talk a bit. He told us a "fun fact" about how the Backstage Assault manual cover had his tattoo on the wrong arm. He talked to my little brother who was 6 or 7 at the time like he was the most important person when he shook his hand. I know Goldberg isn't the most talented or safe wrestler, but he treats his fans well.
I get the feeling that Goldberg is a fundamentally good dude, but wrestling brings out the worst in him personally. Being a green guy in the WCW locker room and having snakes in your ears can turn you into a monster pretty quickly. He was manipulated by people who wanted to take advantage of him, he became a star when he wasn't prepared for it and still struggles to admit the consequences of the mistakes he made.
I had a similar experience with Goldberg. I was wearing my 2004 Christian peep T shirt during a fan interaction and he immediately recognised it and even guessed the year of the shirt. He said Christian (who was retired then) was one of the most underrated guys, and we continued talking about Christian for 2 whole minutes, while others were waiting. I remember thinking then how down to earth he was. I know people call Goldberg egoistic etc but that isn’t my memory of him.
After hearing Goldberg on CVV's podcast and how he made it a point to not leave any fans behind who wanted his time, and how he'd rather be late for a match than ruin some kid's day by not being accomodating, all those fan encounters like this one just mean so much more when you read them.
I went to a small Christian college in Wentzville, MO, about 10 minutes away from O’Fallon, MO, which is where Randy Ortons home is. My friend was doordashing and had an order for “Randy O.”. He didn’t think anything of it, and when he got to the house, it was a mansion. Went to the door, knocked on it, and Randy Orton comes out. My friend blurted out “oh my god, Randy orton”. Randy just laughed and said hi, got his food, tipped well, and went on his way. Seemed like a pretty nice guy to him.
I don't know if you're a hockey fan, but if you are... I work with something similar except I don't bring food, I fix your printer, or set your router up or stuff like that. One day I got an order for a Börje Salming. And I almost shit my pants, because I have a huge poster, of said Salming in his pride wearing the #21 jersey for the Maple Leafs, with a numbered autograph. So fucking cool. So now I have that poster and a personalised photo.
If he starts throwing dudes under the bus, he'll start getting backlash and everything that comes with it. In his best interest to talk all these guys up
Randy has been open about the fact that he used to be a complete dick, but according to him, meeting his now wife and having kids helped him get to a better place. He seems to be pretty chill and a good dude these days.
Man, I'm nearing 40 (ugh) and looking back at my 20s I cringe thinking of how big of an asshole I was sometimes. I try not to take anything personally cuz we're all on our own journey.
I worked for years in the entertainment industry and have multiple friends that have met Randy. Heard stories from others. I've never heard a negative story about him and he was always super nice.
I met Bubba Ray in the middle of a concert at the Jericho Cruise and he was a classy guy. I asked for a picture and the boat was real rocky so it came out blurry and he actually said “Let’s take another”! I’ll never forget that, Bubba/Bully Ray is the man!

I was let go a month and some change before his release, came back again from 2018 to 2022 and was bummed when C19 screwed up his comeback chances, absolutely deserves a spot and I hope he gets one soon.
I was second row ringside at a house show in Danbury, CT., Bob Holly was in a tag team match and he was just being tagged in and I yelled "Beat him like he got a ticket in your rental car and didn't tell you about it!" After stepping thru the ropes he turned to the crowd with a big ass smile on his face.
That's pretty great! someone I know wolf-whistled at Kelly Kelly, back when it was more acceptable to do that, in a WWE ECW house show in Maryland, and she blew him a kiss!
8:00 I agree especially since he must’ve just read the headline. Kevin Nash was protecting his wife because their son came home all inebriated and hostile. He held his son down until law enforcement got there. Not only is that a good father moment but also a good husband moment.

Too many wrestling channels pedaling in drama and telling stories out of school. Maven, I love that you keep things positive almost always. Thanks for that. Cheers.
@@ramanchalasani2378 I'm not criticizing Maven, I'm just having a laugh at how Brock is. He is the type that would appreciate someone not talking to him and it's a line from Parks and Recreation.
Met Goldberg a few years back while working at Walgreens. 7am in the morning, he happily took pictures with everyone and made convo with the OGs who grew up in his era.
Maven, you're a good dude, and I respect the fact that you're always charitable with your assessment towards wrestlers with less than stellar reputations. Having said that, it's likely that your experience with Hogan was more favorable than it was with others due to the fact that you weren't a threat to any of his WWE pushes.
My cousin took a pic with Goldberg years ago at one of his soccer games and he said Goldberg was super chill about it, cracked a few jokes, and did try and rush the conversation so my cousin would leave
I met Kevin Nash back in June and he was nothing but nice to every single fan that walked up to meet him, he even let me and brother take multiple photos with him free of charge, he’s got a huge amount of respect for all of his fans and treats every single last one of them with respect, to me that’s not indicative of a bad guy.
There is really ONLY that in the United States, taking photos without making pay for them is being “nice”, in Europe you charge for them, you look like the lowest son of a bitch.
Shocking stuff to hear Maven calling THIS GUY out at the end of the video... Top Video again, I feel like Maven is a really good guy! Props to his mom, I know she's watching with Pride from above :)
11,000 views in 45 mins lol pretty impressive. Happy to see it. Maven seems like a solid dude and seeing him on TH-cam was a surprise but a pleasant one! Great content so far 👌
"He didn't talk to fans when he didn't feel like it"... yeah that's how it should be. Fans need to learn to respect the boundaries of performers and celebrities, and I am glad of performers placing boundaries when it comes to that.
I don't understand people who approach celebrities out of the blue. If it's an official meet and greet, fine. Otherwise, leave them alone. I have heard some fans and celebrities say they don't mind if a fan approaches them and just keeps the conversation short and the celebrity isn't busy. Like saying, "big fan of yours, have a good one". Then moving on. But for the most part, celebrities really don't want to talk to a complete stranger for 5+ minutes.
To an extent i ageee but you are where you are from your fans. Regardless people put money into you to build you into that star those people mean more than the boss you listen to or your agent. Rather you like it or not they can make you or break you, unfortunately your not some regular person who can claim "boundaries" like some mental health scared teenager. If it wasnt for your fans you would not be there period so i mean id show them some respect at least be like im sorry im not feeling up to it right now or something. Without them your literally just some has been you signed up for the job you wanted this risk and reward. Ignoring people who made you who you are an who control your merchandise sales and career to me is a unwise selfish thing to do and wont make you look good in many eyes
@@ryanjacobson2508 yuh, I live in tampa and sometimes you see wrestlers out getting they groceries, I couldn't imagine buying grocery and someone coming up asking for a picture
@@shinanimedubs1269 I remember that Seth Rollins, Sheamus, and Randy Orton were coming out of the Dunkin Donuts shop in Manteo NC since they usually go through the Outer Banks to get to the major NC cities like Greenville, Raleigh, Greensboro and Charlotte from Virginia. It's not unusual to see them in public; out of common sense I wouldn't bother them especially if they have family members/pets with them.
The lesson here is that calling someone a jerk when you don't really know them that well is the easy way out to dismissing someone. Maven says that the video got a lot of them right, but that it misses the nuance of why they act that way in a lot of cases. And when you have positive interactions with someone over and over, especially when they don't have anything to gain from being nice, it makes it seem that when they're considered jerks its because other people either caught them on a bad day or did something to rub them the wrong way. Doesn't mean they AREN'T jerks, just means you personally haven't seen the reasons that other people have. And that's how Maven approached this video.
Hey everybody has their bad days where somebody who doesn't really know them see them and thinks "what a jerk." I'm sure you've had bad days before. I sure have.
@@ramanchalasani2378 Here's the thing, you've got to find reasons to why people would be jerks in the first place. And if you don't then you're not caring enough about the situation or the reasons why someone is like this. It's easy to label people, it's harder to figure out a number of different ways people are more than what they seem.
Dear Maven, greetings from a far away country where WWE is almost unknown, but thanks to my son there are at least two real fans of pro wrestling. I like your videos a lot, very educative and so well paced! Thank you!
All wrestlers on this top 10 aren't jerks. They are athletes and actors who's always on the road almost 365 days. It takes a toll sometimes and that's understandable. Maven's right. They're not jerks. They're just people trying to put food on the table and provide for their families. Mr. Sportster don't judge so that you will not be judged.
Love your work Maven and happy for your new found youtube glory. But one of the biggest no nos when it comes to TH-cam is click baiting Probably best to title this "My reaction to WWE jerks" or something like that Thanks again for all the content

Adding Kevin Nash to that video was stupid and disrespect. I agree with Maven His son recently passed away, too. They were very close. Nash always speaks about his son and tells fun stories. I think Nash seems like one of the coolest dudes in the business.
That channel is a typical Iwc mark channel that has a rage boner for Hogan, Nash, Russo, HBK and Goldberg not for anything they might of done morally it's about how they didn't book the way they wanted or "burying" guys they wanted pushed for no reason other than they do "good moves" That's why morons like that guy defend murders like Benoit and treat Hogan like he's Hitler
I remember JBL, visiting a US military base, near DC, during a pay period view, when he wasn’t on the card, signing autographs, and talking to the troops. He could not have been nicer. He treated us with respect.
I met jbl twice as a kid and once as an adult. He has always been great. I have a similar story with the Rammstein Air Force base. JBL, Ron Simmons, RVD, Kurt Angle and Undertaker talked with the troops for like 40 minutes if not more after the show was over. As a kid I never forgot that. That was in 04. As an adult I met him after he did a talk show on finance, he was at a bar nearby after that. His face lit up when I talked with him about the APA and how I met him years ago and that I told him he was one of the best characters I grew up watching. I had a few coors lights with him. That was cool. I also met John Cena in the Atlanta Airport at like 4am, really cool dude. They had ESPN baseball highlights on a screen and we talked about that a bit waiting for the same flight in the delta lounge they have.

Taking care of his brand. Remember that kayfabe was strong back in those days. Nobody knew anything except what they saw on TV, and all the talent had strict rules on how to act in public.
Like Maven said, he can only tell his stories and his perspective, it's not his place to tell someone else's experiences. Rene Dupree has his own channel where he can bury JBL, Bubba and Bob since he's the one that experienced it
I agree, I also kinda feel like it's very rare jerks are always gonna be jerks, it's easy for them to be one at one point in time, only to grow from that same experiance. If people were to say who were the major jerks of the world, I would say it from a point and time rather than always. Like HBK in the 90's is probably the worst person you can have, yet he's arguably one of the best people these days in the industy.
Some wrestlers are legit jerks in real like though. Austin Aries is one of those and I had met him before. I was just saying hey to him but he kind of just ignored me and kept walking forward. Freaking brat.
I hate it when I see things like "X is a jerk because they don't like people". Gives "introverts are selfish" vibes. Some guys just wanna stay by themselves!
I don't really think it's rude if you are in a bad mood and someone can't take a hint and keeps bothering you. But also, if a celebrity is standoffish to a random person who won't leave them alone, that is understandable.
Guy has literally made himself look like a fool on television multiple times willingly, so he's willing to embarrass himself for the sake of entertainment

Love you Maven, Only wanna say 2 things 1. I believe the Nash and Hogan “creative control” issues are more so burying and or not putting over talent that could’ve benefited or resulted in a better match. Why the guy phrased it how he did idk. 2. Pulling a dude backstage and intimidating him is cringe af. The fans behavior wasn’t great either since it was a bit personal but it was a HUGE escalation from Bubba. Not to mention the ones who get investigated or straight up arrested for whatever crimes they have committed. Nash had a huge problem back in the summer of 1992
I met Kevin Nash and Shawn Michaels at a Motel 6 in Harrisonburg Virginia in the early 90s. I was 15 years old and working as a desk clerk. Both him and Kevin were actually really nice to me. They couldn't believe that I was working at 15 years old and they were super nice, even coming down to the desk to check on me.

Hey Maven, guys here! And we think this needs to happen!!!

I know which fiesta it is, I met him there too and he's a nice guy to fans, love him.

It's gotta be a bit at this point....
So basically, no one is a jerk.
To Maven
Mav tries to be so diplomatic & idealistic that it feel rather formulaic

As an adult I met him after he did a talk show on finance, he was at a bar nearby after that. His face lit up when I talked with him about the APA and how I met him years ago and that I told him he was one of the best characters I grew up watching. I had a few coors lights with him. That was cool.

Like Maven said, he can only tell his stories and his perspective, it's not his place to tell someone else's experiences. Rene Dupree has his own channel where he can bury JBL, Bubba and Bob since he's the one that experienced it
I think it's unfair to label someone a jerk for life, we learn, we change, we adapt...plus someone's jerk is someone's friend, its all perspective.

Love all your vids Bro, so cool, so honest and extreme good insight and understanding. Thank you Sir
This video summed up: "Yeah, he was a jerk, but he was nice to me" 😂
Mav tries to be so diplomatic & idealistic that it feel rather formulaic
How many comments did you read before you decided this one was gonna be the one you copied?
@@ramanchalasani2378stay mad
You really don't understand anything he says, just watch another TH-camr when you going to write a comment then turn off your notifications 😂😂
"Vince never asked anybody to do something he wasn't willing to do" I'm still yet to see Vince barking on all fours while being mocked 👍
Guy has literally made himself look like a fool on television multiple times willingly, so he's willing to embarrass himself for the sake of entertainment
Pretty sure he wouldn't let me shit in his hair!
Patterson made him do that.
Ngl i think vince would do that
something tells me that he would happily and that doesn’t make it any better
bro being extactly like taker. "ummm yeah maybe they did horrible unspeakable things but at least they were nice to me, so no, i dont think they are shitty people".
Taker doesn't have anything good to say about Hogan though and stated so publicly.
Moreso the fact that humans are very complex and good people can do bad things, OR bad people can do good things. Nobody trying to justify terrible behaviour, but nobody who finds themselves in the limelight 24/7 will look good 100% of the time
to be fair to Mave, he has always stated that the channel is about his experience, and that is the charm about this, it is not the court of public opinion; and yes some of the folk here are absolut D-bags (QED: Terry Gene Bollea specifically). He is just saying he did not see it, but recounting his experience. I take this as an auto-biography vs a tell all.
Unspeakable?
@@jackwhitbread4583 Mark is incredibly real on his podcast for sure.
Mr Huffman tried to be neutral with his views without creating any controversy i think he played smart here.
4:39 "I have nothing to say about that", Maven was in on the prank. I wonder if it's the same woman who asked Randy to carry her bag for her, not knowing Randy was the Champ.
I feel like this is just gonna be Imhotep trying to convince us everyone on the list is a “great guy”lol
Edit: yup. It was
I wonder when Brendan Fraser is going to show up 😂
Mav tries to be so diplomatic & idealistic that it feel rather formulaic
@@ramanchalasani2378man try diplomatically coming up with a non repeated generic statement ya mook.
He does look like Imhotep from the Brendan Fraiser film, doesn't he? I've been trying to put my finger on who he reminds me of but you nailed it.

I believe that the only wrestler that was not a jerk was GOLDBERG !
I believe that Terry Bolea/Hogan is the biggest jerk out of most of them!
21:11 Brock is a recluse. I don’t think he wants to be mean or rude. He just doesn’t like people in general. There are lots of people that really like Brock. I suspect once you get to know him, he’s probably incredibly loyal to his close friends.
Lesner has serios psych problems but there are meds available for that.
@@PassivePortfolios negative
@@Meatball2022 Roid rage.
@@PassivePortfolios that’s not “serious psych problems” as you indicated. Still negative. And of course, not even a drop of evidence. But whatever
Nah, if you pay him enough...that's when he probably isn't a jerk. I knew a nurse who said when he was in recovering from surgery that he was absolutely an ass to everyone and since she was the type to call you on your crap, she came out and told him she had seen children with cancer that had more balls than he did with his incessant whining about pain and what he needed.
Not the Krabby Pattie ending 😂😭😂😂😂
It's a shame that Test isnt alive, Mav n Test could do a great pod
I feel like Vince & Hogan are the 2 examples of despite their controversies throughout the years, You can't deny all their accomplishments because at the end of the day. They are the ones who made WWE or the wrestling world in general what it is today.
So we can give Chris Benoit his due now?
@@718datbxkid Murdering your wife and child in cold blood are not comparable to what Hogan and Vince did. Further, Benoit's contribution to the business of wrestling are incomparable to that of Hogan's and Vince's.
@@718datbxkid what due is that? Benoit wasn't putting butts in seats
@@718datbxkidChris is innocent
@@A_child_of_the_3_and_1-np8tmNo he isn’t, you’re forcing yourself to believe he is
My biggest concern walking into this video is; Maven WILL NEVER admit if he's a jerk or not, he'll say whether everyone else is a jerk, but leave himself out of it.
Saying Maven lacks transparency is actually wild af 😂 he's probably one of the most self aware and genuine _people_ in general, let alone wrestlers.
@@E-1337 ehhh it may not be the case now but if you were friends or tight with people that everyone but you thinks is a jerk then you were probably a jerk as well
@@SWWonders No I'm saying that he's been incredibly open about his own shortcomings and flaws in all of his videos. He's reflected on this specifically in another video, where he talks about one of the only times he was rude to a fan was after he got fired from the wwe and wasn't really handling it well, when a fan approached him while he was working security at his friends bar. Honestly just watch a few of his vids and see how he speaks about his time in the WWE and how he own every mistake that led to them firing him. Say what you want but the man is beyond honest about himself.
you just don't understand the video, he is saying it safe and respectful to not disrespect anyone
I mean, Kamala (RIP) said he loved Hogan, loved working with him and that Hogan was always good to him. Kevin Nash definitely seems like a jerk to me. Orton 'was' absolutely a jerk, but I feel like he's finally grown up... it just took him to his 40's to get there. Hunter: massive jerk
I guess you shouldn't have uploaded the video. Because you have been honest and making great content. We did not expect such a video from you. But I guess we understand. Loving you work. Keep giving us more. Thanks.
Feel you man, I was playing baseball and was unwise dealing with pain pills. Keep rocking it bud, nice to see another person who made those choices dong good
Mr lamia, Mr corner 😂
Now Mr sportsstar
Friday is Maven day
I can’t imagine what Hulk Hogan has been through. Yeah, being the face of an entire industry for decades and making more money than anyone else while also having a contract that guarantees you can do whatever you want must’ve been so hard.
Being the face of an entire industry and carrying it on your shoulders is heavy weight.
Can you do a video about the best entrances and the worst entrances?
You're the best bro. Love these videos
Maven, you're such a great guy to funnel revenue over to this guy's channel. He's got to be getting a huge boost from the number of your followers going over to comment on his video.
Love you Maven, Only wanna say 2 things
1. I believe the Nash and Hogan “creative control” issues are more so burying and or not putting over talent that could’ve benefited or resulted in a better match. Why the guy phrased it how he did idk.
2. I believe this video came out before this happened, but at an ROH show Bubba pulled a fan backstage and essentially intimidated and yelled at him for… *checks notes* Booing / Heckling a female heel wrestler… I believe he said something like “you have s*x with that fatty bubba ray” to her as an insult but still. Pulling a dude backstage and intimidating him is cringe af. The fans behavior wasn’t great either since it was a bit personal but it was a HUGE escalation from Bubba.
I will say though, I entirely agree with your point about including the Kevin Nash DV case being distasteful. Really weird to mention.
did you really just call it "cringe af"? if you had ANY point, you immediately lost it there.
@@miguelnewmexico8641 ? It’s very cringe lol. Maybe embarrassing would be a better way of phrasing it? What about unprofessional? Dude was a 48 year old man bringing someone backstage to yell at him because he was slightly rude to a wrestler. Was what the fan said ok? No absolutely not, was what Bubba did okay? No absolutely not.
