Finally got around to installing mine tonight and found this as a reference. The extra harnesses that came with mine confused me. Thank you for posting this and making the install A LOT easier than I thought it would be. Appreciate it!
That’s great to hear and I’m glad that you found the video useful! Really appreciate the kind words and good to know you like the trail sight lights too! Enjoy!
Watching both your videos for the trail lights and the one for the Fog lights you mentioned that they can both connect to the headlight plug is there a connector for that method. Thanks great vids.
Hey @BadRobot56, great question. The trail sight lights have a connector that plugs into the headlight socket and then the headlight connects into the other end of the harness. The fog lights have the same type of harness, you plug one end into the headlight and the headlight connector plugs in the other end of the harness. Now to use both, you can piggy back them. Plug the trail sight harness into the headlight. Then plug the fog light connector into the other end of the harness. And then you can plug the original headlight connector in the other end of the fog light harness (that is what I did in the fog light video). You DO NOT need a separate connector/harness/adapter. Hope that helps, and thank you so much for watching the videos. Means a lot!
Question about the wiring portion - how many of the retaining pins did you need to remove in order to pull back the wheel liner and get to the connectors? Maybe my hands are just too big but danged if I haven't tried this whole process 3 times and I can't seem to get to the headlight to disconnect the wire and put everything together. Also, did you do the wiring so it also goes to your fusebox and stays on with the running lights?
@bigbadcockroach - Thanks for watching. If I recall (it's been a while) I believe I removed 5 of the small retaining clips to get my hand in there. The space is tight, and it's actually a lot closer to you when you get up in there than you think it will be. As you reach up there, the connector is almost at head height, and actually not too bad to reach. You have to pull the connector back towards the rear of the vehicle, it slides back horizontally. Do you have any kids, or neighbors kids that could reach up in there for you if access is a challenge. $5 is a great way to save your sanity and frustration! As for the wiring, these ones were actually prototypes from the company that didn't have that extra wire on them. Mine stay on all the time when driving, the blink when turning. I think there were comments that people didn't want them on all the time, so they added the functionality to attach that extra wire to the fuse, so you could choose if they were on all the time or not. Hope that helps, and thanks again for watching!
Just purchased and mine are white running lights, which turns to amber with turn signal. Is there a reason yours are amber all the time instead of white. Also why all the different connectors? Thanks
@rottsrool - Thanks for watching! My install video was created with a pre-production set of the original trail sight lights that Mabett offered. Since the release of them (that are just like the ones in my video) Mabett changed the design up on customers requests to be white all the time, and then amber when turning. That is what the extra wires are for, to facilitate the white on all the time and the amber turn signal. Hope that clears it up for you, and helps you understand why mine are amber all the time. Thanks again for watching, I really appreciate it!
Another great video! Have to think about this one. I. Curious how the lenses will hold up over time. Did i miss when u mentioned what size socket to demove the old ones
Hey Anthony, thanks for the feedback! I think the lenses should be just fine. A lot depends on how you clean them and maintain them I guess. I’ll definitely provide feedback as time goes on. As for the sockets, I actually recorded the video 3 months ago, these were prototype lights, but I only narrated the video a couple of nights ago! Just went and double checked, removing the original nuts/bolt from the OEM trail sight is a 10mm. Installing the new trail sight light is a 10mm for the OEM bolt nearest the windshield, and then the two new bolts are an 8mm socket. Hope that helps.
Unfortunately, I don’t have a solid answer for you as my trail sight lights were prototype versions, so they didn’t come with the add-a-fuse originally. They were designed to only work when the headlights are on, so I only have the headlight connector. I’m not sure how or if connecting to an AUX switch could potential challenge the connection to your headlights. It might be just fine, but I’d hate to say go for it and find out that it damages your headlights for some reason.
@@MikeHaddon - Hey Mike, great question. No, my kit did not include the two long wires, my kit was a pre-production set for evaluation purposes, test fitting etc. I was sent them to check them out and record the installation video. The wires were added later on, because people complained that they weren’t on ‘all the time’ to use as turn signals. My set only come on when the headlights are on. Hope that helps.
Hey @gobroncogo22, thanks for watching, I appreciate it! Great question and the answer is yes, they do. In this video: th-cam.com/video/lieWp3-_9rk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=etgbW2bmAeULaiS_ you can see that I have them installed with my Form Lighting Bronco headlights and they work just fine. No issues at all. Near the end of the video I show them all working in harmony. Hope to at helps! There are links to the products in my video description.
These ones that I have were prototypes. They flash when you unlock the vehicle and then they on as DRLs when the headlights are on. They flash as sequential turn signals, again, when the headlights are on. Now with the trail sight lights that are for sale, you get an add-a-fuse harness as well, so that the lights can be on all the time as DRLs and also always be a turn signal. Hope that helps. Thanks for watching!
I am not 100% sure but I don’t believe that there is any difference between the Raptor trail sights and the non Raptor trail sights, so I am assuming that the install would be just the same. Without having installed them on a Raptor I can’t confirm 100%.
These were prototype versions of the trail sight lights. The kits that are shipped come with an add-a-fuse connection so that you can run them when the headlights are off as well. That is what those connectors are for. Hope that helps.
Yes, if you want DRLs all the time and turn signals you have to plug it in. Otherwise they will only be on and turn signals when you have your headlights on. They do however flash when you unlock and first turn on the Bronco in this state.
Hey @edulucro2917 - Do you mean like a smoked version? You could always put some tint film on them or some VRT night shade before you install them. Just a thought. The lenses come off with just two screws from the back side, so you could easily do it without damaging the whole thing. Mabett have also come out with a dual light version, that is amber and white. That's also an option. Hope this helps. amzn.to/3TA1iUv
Hey Alby, these were actually a prototype set, so they only light up when the headlights are on. However the new versions have an ‘add a fuse’ in the kit so that you can have them on all the time, and have them as indicators.
@@glennsinclair5511 - you will have two optional red wires that you can plug into the trail sight lights and then using an add a fuse, you'll tap into your fuse box. That information should be in the instructions you receive with the lights. As I mentioned, mine were pre production lights, so don't have that add a fuse option.
The product that was delivered to me was very poorly made. The interposition connecter lacked retaining clips.the screw holes on the driver side were poorly aligned. I fettled it to fit. Three months down the line half the LED's on the one light started flickering and went out. I would recommend the IAG off road product which is more expensive but of vastly superior quality.
Sorry to hear that you didn’t have a great experience. Did you reach out to Mabett? They have exceptional customer service and take care of their customers. I recommend you reach out to them and see what they say. And just for reference, Mabett and IAG purchase from the same manufacturer, so the products are the same, in case you didn’t know. Thanks for watching the video, I appreciate it, and good luck to you if you decide to reach out to Mabett. Especially if you are still within warranty period, they normally make things right.
I was about to say the same thing, the IAG one is part of their I-Line series which means they don't actually make it, they just buy it from another manufacturer and is probably the same thing as Mabett.
@@BenSmithninjaben - Yes, that's exactly it. The products are all made in one factory, Desai Bronco. Then resellers purchase the products from them and sell them on. I was reached out to by Desai Bronco, so I could sell my own line of products, which would be the same as Mabett and IAG etc, but didn't want to have to deal with all the logistics as a single person and not an actual company!
