    Another great video. My favorite thing to sell on eBay is paper. Love old instruction manuals and paper advertising items. I just sold one brochure for 300.00 it was for a Hammond Novachord organ paid pennies for it at an estate sale. I also sold a menu from the same lot for 50.00 .... and still have a huge stack I haven't listed.

      Thanks so much! Paper is a super category for those who are willing to invest the time into sourcing, and researching.

      Hi Joel, I just bought a bunch of vintage and non vintage car brochures and more than brochures. I am like little kid with new toys. I am trying to get the most I can from a bundle or singles!
      I just opened my ebay store yesterday and I am very excited and motivated.
      I wish you the best!

    Hey Don~ I missed this the first time I watched this post, last month, and wanted to point something out. It's quite likely that you've already taken note and listed/priced accordingly, but the little booklet you show @ the 25:53 mark, "Fighting For Liberty On The Home Front", is a WatchTower Society (Jehovah Witness) tract. It's my understanding that they are shopping eBay these days looking for war era pieces to include in their museum. If you look up WatchTower, in Religion & Spirituality on eBay, you'll see what I mean~if you haven't already, of course. Btw, excellent examples shown in this post~really, really enjoyed this!

    • @TheAuctionProfessor
      @TheAuctionProfessor  6 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Yes thanks. We always look out for watch tower items. I've had several early items, which have all sold very well. The last one we sold went for $57.50 in the first week.

    I love buying old paper items, I do really good with vintage football schedules and maps. I recently sold a huge USA map from the early 1800s for really good money. Thanks for another great video

      Maps always sell well for us. We love the hand tinted ones. We purchased 3 from an antique store last year that were from the Napoleonic War circa 1815 for $5 each just a few months ago, and sold them in the $400 each range. They were in French, and the dealer hadn't a clue what he had, or even how old they were. Early maps are always on my BOLO list!

    Good afternoon auction professor. Thanks to your information I bought a bunch of vintage and non vintage car brochures. Another items were in the bundle such as manuals, vintage cars postcards, and more. I just opened my ebay store and if everything goes well, the $80.00 investment could bring around $500.00 or more.
    Thank you for your info!
    I wish you the best to you, your family and more to your son.

      You just never know what you may find. Just like not doing research, people never seem to check things out before selling something. We've found all kinds of stuff in the past, which is why we are never surprised any more.

      The Auction Professor... My family and friends make fun of the fact that I look everything up. I love the research but am not a fan of listing... Don't know why I struggle with that part... It is so boring for me.

      What about playing music, or getting a TV handy while you list. We sometime throw a comedy on while we list. We take the laptops outside even sometimes, and list on the patio.

    I have a 2 hour commute each way from NJ to Manhattan and I watch all of your videos. You truly are the professor! So much knowledge and willingness to share. I have learned a lot. Maybe one day I can make the break from part time to full time. For now the separate stream of steady income is great and has increased month over month by expanding my knowledge. If I could ever do anything for you in return let me know. That is besides clicking the like button and telling a friend. Cheers!

    Hi Auction Professor. I just subscribed to your show. You are full of knowledge. I am learning all I can. I am reselling part-time right now but want to go full-time. I just went to an estate sale and purchased five 1968 Man on the moon Dallas Times Herald papers but noticed they're not worth much. I would've thought they were worth quite a bit. Is there a particular web site you use to value your items? I know there is Worthpoint but really can't afford the monthly fee at this time. I would appreciate any help. Thank you for your videos.

    • @TheAuctionProfessor
      @TheAuctionProfessor  5 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Glad to have you! Rule of thumb is to look up everything. With moon landing, and space travel most aren't worth a ton, because of the quantity of papers pressed. They are also fairly new. We mostly buy 1940's or before newspapers. There are some newer ones worth money such as the death of someone famous,, or disaster issues. We use eBay for researching most everything. These days we pretty much know our prices for most of what we sell though. Hope that makes sense.

    Thanks Don. When u go to a booth & the dealer asks what u are looking for do u tell them? Ex: Vintage X Mas Cards. I am going to my first one tomorrow. I fear finding a hot spot & a dealer catching on.

    Hi! When you sell these really light items that weigh less than an ounce-2oz, do you still pay $3-$4 to ship first class or do you ship a different/cheaper way?

  • @samking4179
    @samking4179 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    how much labor was involved in listing the items? how much to you pay the person per hour to list all the items ... even if you do it? how much do you pay yourself per hour to list items? you have to factor in the total labor cost to get net profit.

    Hey there!
    Very information video like always! I did a bit of research on the phillips academy ticket and do not see any listings or sold listings on eBay. When you see this does it concern you at all when deciding to purchase an item ?

    • @TheAuctionProfessor
      @TheAuctionProfessor  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks for watching! We are always glad to hear that people enjoy watching or videos. On items like this there were only a few thousand every printed, and of those most were discarded the day of the game. The amount that would have survived is very small, and most items like this you wont find many others for sale if any. This type of item is also passed up by most people who think it's not worth anything so they wouldn't list it either. I paid pennies for it, and have sold many very similar to this from other colleges, and universities, it has good content, such as the schedule on the back showing Yale, and M.I.T.. We have sold paper items for over 4 years, and are currently selling over $12K a month just in paper items such as this, and I'm very confident we will sell it without a problem. Do a search for just "vintage hockey ticket", or even "vintage ticket" in the sports section, and you'll see some from this era going for big money. We sold a ticket last year for almost $500. If a well known player was on this college team prior to playing professionally a ticket like this could go for a very large sum of money.
