I’m an old rock an roll hippie and worked concessions at a fair once that he was singing at. Let me tell you, that little bitty man (seriously, he was short...) had me blubbering at the end of his set because his voice is 10x more powerful in person. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed seeing him.

Like Frank Sinatra, Andy Williams voice was his instrument, pure power, and no electronic fakery at all. One of the GOATS for sure. This was some of the music I grew up listening to. That song and Moon River were among his best. And speaking of Frank Sinatra, we are overdue for a revisit! 🙂

@@christyhounshel9946 - the TV censors back then were probably responsible for the change in the lyrics in this instance. Broadcast TV shows in the 1960s and before (and even some into the early 1980s) were restricted heavily. I recall the craziness of the censors rule to not show Barbara Eden's naval in the show "I Dream of Jeannie" and other silly things like that! 🤷‍♀️

Andy Williams was a great crooner from the 1960s-70s era. He used to have a variety show on TV and always did a Christmas special that everybody watched. This particular song is from Broadway; it was in the musical Man of La Mancha, which told the story of Don Quixote. Andy was married to a much younger French actress/singer, Claudine Longet, and they had a few children together. Several years after they divorced she shot and killed her lover, who was a ski instructor. Andy supported her throughout the trial. She was never convicted; not sure of all the details of it, but it was a big news story back in the day.

Amazing! Andy Williams had a wonderful, silky smooth voice.
(Note: that would have been only about a year before he died, from cancer)

You guys crack me up every time! I am a 60 year old Grandma, and every time I watch your videos listening to the great songs of my youth for the first time, I get to enjoy them all over again. It's almost like I am hearing them for the first time, too. Thanks for making an old Granny happy! Hugs to you both! And I give you both mad props for giving the proper respect to these great artists, most of whom are old enough to be your grandparents. It's the right thing to do. Just because we are old doesn't mean we don't care what you think. Great art must be passed on. You two are proof that great art is eternal, and you make us proud of the time we have been here on this earth. Keep it up, boys! My generation screwed up a lot, so we need to remember those of our generation who did life right. I wish I was your Grandma! I'd take you both to a live concert. I live in California. Next Coachella, you should come out and go with me! You'd make any Mama or Grandma proud!

"Happy Heart" by Andy Williams which was also used as the ending song in Shallow Grave, a very by bizarre but fantastic film.

Andy Williams started singing with his brothers in his younger days in the 40’s , then went solo in the 50’s. He had what was called a variety show on tv back in the 60’s-70’s, where he would bring his family, parents, friends & other celebrities on. His Christmas specials were always the best. He sings so many Christmas songs you still hear on the radio every year. His nickname was Mr. Christmas. He also discovered/gave the Osmond Brothers their start when the were just little kids in the late 60’s; long before Donny & Marie Osmond went solo.
In 1962, he sang the theme song Moon River, to the film Breakfast at Tiffany’s staring Audrey Hepburn, at the Academy Awards where it won an Oscar for best original song.
In the early 90’s he built an entertainment theatre in Mississippi named Moon River; that is still in operation today.
I’m so glad the two of you listened to him. Many from his days have sadly been forgotten and not introduced to younger generations.

This song was covered by many in those days. It was from the Broadway play, The Man of La Mancha, which was based on the story Don Quixote.
I love Andy Williams. Grew up on him. My mom had many of his records. He also had a tv show which we watched. Thanks for the memories. I play his Christmas albums every year.

Yeah 100% about how there was real voices back then! It does give you goosebumps cause you hear the emotion behind the words. Its also raw af cause you hear everything, even the little imperfections. Now everything is so perfect and so neat that it almost sounds monotoned. Back in the days music had so many layers, live music always sounds better too.
