I'm a guitar player and I would say that the Roland instrument cables are excellent. I'm a bit confused however about what you are trying to achieve here. The output impedance of your device will be consistent and very low impedance in comparison to something like a guitar and your receiver inputs will not be very high gain; I doubt you would see a huge cable influence aside from maybe pickup from strong external interference sources when you are not playing. The key aspects that really make these cables special for me are that they are not microphonic compared to my normal cables (don't pickup sound when mechanically manipulated)., they are supple, they are low capacitance so will not influence the circuit formed between the guitar and the (high impedance) amplifier considerably and also they are very low noise. Of all these qualities, the latter is the most amazing, as the high impedance and gain of a guitar amplifier (especially when running in over-driven modes, where the amplifier starts to approximate the front end of a primitive diode AM radio receiver) means that if an excellent screening is not available on a cable, there will be a lot of hum picked up from devices that radiate around you, invariant of the quality of the screening of the guitar itself or coil configuration. This is evident when you play, as you can move around a room with poor setups and dip in and out of areas of considerable hum. When I use the cables, I have hardly any noise issues, and that is amazing.
Mate, that has to be the best comment i have had the privilege to read on a you tube vid. I was looking to buy the gold but thought, hmmm, be no better than most cables. Well you just sold me on it. I can almost hear the doorbell going with an amazon box in hand already. 👍🏼
Thanks for your informative comment. I was just trying to see if I could hear a difference in my use case (synths) between the gold and black series. I think they use a similar core, so it's just the gold plating and the fabric cover which are different. In the case of guitar, there is, as you highlight, a lot more to think about!
*edit after purchase= extremely happy with Roland Gold Series. It literally makes my bass guitar sound better compared to my old DiMarzio cable. No regrets in purchase and will buy another. ...I came here because I'm buying a guitar cable for my son. 30 years ago I purchased the DiMarzio braided instrument cable for my guitar, and to this day it's in excellent condition and sounds perfect every time (in look and quality it is similar to roland gold, with but silver 1/4" tips. I play guitar nearly every other weekend for all these years using that cable (still same guitar - Seagull Artist series CW - too LOL). So I wanted DiMarzio cables now... but where I live now I can not buy them anywhere near me (I live remote). So... nice to know about Roland Gold, thanks. I think the longevity of the product is key to me, I'd rather pay more now, and never have an issue, then to later have an issue and deal with trying to get the replacement or repair made by the company even if it's "guaranteed"... free repair is lost time and lost shipping costs = not free at all.
Both my black and gold cables are still going after 1 year... I hope they last 30 years like your DiMarzio! I guess your gear can now be classed as "Vintage" and is now super cool. Thanks for sharing your interesting story!
Hello 👋 Sorry for the weird question, is the interconnect cable (Y) cable the same as buying 2 separate normal instrument cables? I see that the interconnect cable has a red and black marking (obviously for right and left) but do I need to buy these types of (Y) cables or I'm I going to be fine connecting my instruments with single cable for left and another single cable for right? Thank you in advance 🎉
you can use two cables! The (Y) cable is Y on both ends, so its like two single instrument cables stuck together to make it neater. You can use two separate individual cables instead (like i did with the two Gold Cables to compare them.)
Actually Y cables have (usually) one stereo connector and two mono connectors on the other side. Y resembles one connector on one side and two on the others. This is just simple double mono cables and not Y.
first impression is the highs sounds to me more airy with the gold cable, black series which i have, sounds more neutral in the highs or less airy if you will which i realte to being more neutral (less sparkle) than the gold series
Yep could totally tell the difference, not. I wonder whether if the two samples from each cable were digitally analysed and compared if there was any difference at all. I've always wondered if gold jacks make any difference when the socket is not gold plated you're plugging in to . Btw I always sample from 101 over USB as I think it avoids converting digital to analogue and back again.🎶🎧☺️ Cheers good video and have a great day.

@@teabreakbeats For electronic music, I think gold can be very usefull if you research and record your own sounds in nature.
Thank you for this, spectacular work!

@@teabreakbeats yesterday ordered the gold one. hope it lasts like the dimarzio. ;) thanks for your video!
Hello 👋
Sorry for the weird question, is the interconnect cable (Y) cable the same as buying 2 separate normal instrument cables?

very nice demonstration with an excellent professional test... thank you very much.

Ha, literally yesterday I was sampling the MC-101 into the Polyend Tracker… 👍🏼
Thanks for watching! Good idea, although I need to find the minijack adaptor!
@@teabreakbeats The Polyend is mono only, what about your Maschine ?
The Maschine is stereo, no adaptor needed as it has two 1/4inch jacks
@@teabreakbeats So stereo sampling, like the MC-101 and the MPCs. Yeah it's a shame the Tracker is mono.
Yep could totally tell the difference, not.

The Black series bass sounded the best out of the 3.
Was the cheapest too! Thanks for watching
Gold sounded slightly richer
Thanks for watching!
