    The opposing side refuses to negotiate.
    The doctor you sued feels he did nothing wrong.
    Even if he did something wrong, whatever he did, he claims, didn't cause you harm and injury.
    Then he argues that even if he did something wrong and that wrongdoing caused you harm, your injuries really aren't as bad as you say. Also, the doctor claims that you caused and contributed to your own injuries.
    However, during the course of your lawsuit, immediately after you have testified, the defense attorney who represents the doctor you've sued approaches your lawyer to see if he's interested in trying to negotiate.
    Your attorney is interested.
    He wants to know what they are interested in paying.
    He tells you that the defense may want to settle.
    Is that really possible after telling you and your attorney they were never going to settle your case?
