I have been running estate sales for over 25 years and once a contract is signed the family cannot remove items from the sale unless it is in writing. That’s money out of the liquidators pocket.
That was a big sale. Would have been a great clean out! Unfortunate family sometimes want things back after sold. If they want a particular item, and know what it is, but not where it is, they should have a list asking buyers if you find this X, please give to administrator of sale, otherwise should all be game. I'd love to go to a sale like that, you make me envious 😳. Great box, glad you got it. Big white house with porch, nice, but what I thought was: "what a lot of windows to clean". Hahaha 🤣. I agree with you! If the family didn't want it and someone buys something, that's rude to want the money back. Bet the family person really didn't want it in the first place.
That’s when you let the rain take care of the outside of the windows! Haha 🙂 (Now I ask myself when is the last time I windexed my windows??) Great idea on the list, you just have to hope that most estate sale shoppers are honest & would hand them over. I’ve had that happen just a few times, mostly with old photos, & of course I gladly turn them over to the family. It was a great sale for sure!

You found some good stuff. When you opened the Douglas fudge box I was just excited as you, but for the sewing stuff inside. When you said "I have to find someplace to put these", I thought ... you could have sold those on eBay. All metal sewing feet are rare to find these days.

She celebrated her 90th birthday earlier this year….um born in 1934! And lived in a small unincorporated area in northern MN called Wildwood! So again, loved ALL the things🤗♥️ Have a great week🌞

I felt bad for the estate sale company having to deal with this. They worked really hard just to make a clearing in the home so people could walk through, there was stuff everywhere. It hurts them because if people drive from far away & the item was pulled, the company gets blamed & then is given negative reviews.
I love going to these digger estate sales with you. 😊. And once again you found Yellowstone t shirt. So happy for you getting the Douglas candy box. It’s not all about making money, you do a great job of preserving history and if a candy box makes you happy that’s great, add some charcoal or some of the moisture packs to the rice to help remove moisture from that sign.

Hi Renee! Your finds were wonderful. The Fort Knox license plates are very good and should bring in a lot cash. The green 1934 flag might be from the 1933/1934 Chicago World's Fair/A century of Progress. 1934 also marked the centennial of Chicago - 1834 to 1934. If it is made of felt it may have been used indoors rather than outdoors. This is just a guess on my part. I watch a could worlds fair videos on TH-cam and didn't spot it yet. It's a great research item. It could also be from a college.
For getting the stink off ****. I have had good luck with non clumping cat litter in an airtight container!!!! **** couple days and it’s fresh as a daisy!
I just left an estate sale here in Texas, on. Monday. It was 70% off (3rd day). There is never a picker sale, every item is priced. Would love to bring a bag to pay and be told $10. I would get a Concussion from my head hitting the floor😊
Wow, 70% off. Our sales here usually do 50% on the last day. There are sales where everything is priced, those aren’t usually the “digger” sales so I don’t attend those as often.
I hate when that happens. I’m currently in the process of starting my own estate sale/clean out company and I’m making sure that my contracts are fine tuned and the family will be made known in plenty of time that they need to take what they want out before I have the sale because in my contract, it basically states that anything removed from the premise for either an estate sale or a clean out after set date, and after the contract has been signed, they will be charged a percentage for each item that has been removed. I feel like they need to go through everything before hand because as business owner that makes my business look bad to other people.
If the ownersthink they might have a problem with seeing people walking out with things maybe they should not stay in the house when the sale is happening.
Renee. If you spray old papers or pages of old books with disinfectant spray and then air removal in a sun lightened area for a short time. That mildew smell will be gone!
The cabinet is great. Wipe it down, let it dry and then put lots of wood oil on it. You won't believe what that will do. Go to Home Depot or whatever store you have and see what they have. Nice find!!

Hope it was not "The Thing from Another World"! I'd get that anniversary clock for the various parts...if brass. Like that vintage portable radio from the 1940s...that would be coming home with me! Those cylinders are stereo speakers from the late 50s made in Japan. I remember those black and yellow Ca license plates. the metal tab was the yearly registration id. The red "V" was for vets who got a free registration. Your adventure brings back fun memories of my basement adventures...I have many things from vintage floor lamps, two beautiful vintage book cases, Lionel Train equipment...the list goes on...no more basement goodies here, these days, in fact estate sales are few and far in-between, most stuff is from the 70s-early 2000s...way to new for my interests! I see a vintage candle stick Western Electric Phone...I have several...where did you get yours??? The little black Scotty Dog on your candy box reminds me of the Remler Scotty...Remler Radio Company's logo...Remler Radios were manufactured here in San Francisco during the early 30s-early 50s. The building is still here, with the faded Remler name. The yellow Ft Knox plate is from the year I came on the scene...1943...that one I'd keep if I had found it! Too bad I did not know you and your interest in things paper...in the "old days" of my basement explorations, I saw piles of the very ephemera you like so much, tossed out! I did go through it and found items related to radio and TV products in the form of service info. and consumer ads and pamphlets, which I still have.

There is a photo on the bay for sale that features soldiers sitting on an army car with that same license plate you have on the front of car. Those plates are your money, great job on this wonderful sale.
Great eye finding that on the photo! Another viewer stated they found somewhat newer sold listings for similar plates. Funny how eBay searches aren’t exact & different results show up for people! I know that I receive different results when searching on my phone & then on my laptop.
Congratulations Renee. I would have probably snatched the radios. A year and a half ago I sent you a 1930’s Wards catalog. My grandpa who owned it was a radio repairman. Thus the draw towards them. Happy hunting. 😊
Yes, around 2:05. I was told he fixed several of the radios in the Marshall County Historical Center in Plymouth, In. You would have enjoyed him. A history buff as well.

I see a 1942 Fort Knox plate that sold on eBay on 7/17/24 for $200. A 1944 sold on 5/16/24 for best offer on a $300 listing. One other 1942 but a white, maybe, plate sold for $99 on 6/24/24. I searched under Fort Knox motorcycle plate. Great finds!

They are definitely license plate toppers for automobile, not motorcycle. There are many sold on Worthpoint.. they're worth hundreds!

You found some good stuff. When you opened the Douglas fudge box I was just excited as you, but for the sewing stuff inside. When you said "I have to find someplace to put these", I thought ... you could have sold those on eBay. All metal sewing feet are rare to find these days.
You're only getting better at "creating content" and you say so much with your excited happiness and the smiles you share.

Oh Renee, loved it all💕 The candy box sparked a memory of a Scotty figurine in Grandma’s China cabinet. I reminded myself to ask Mom if she remembered it. She celebrated her 90th birthday earlier this year….um born in 1934! And lived in a small unincorporated area in northern MN called Wildwood! So again, loved ALL the things🤗♥️ Have a great week🌞

I felt bad for the estate sale company having to deal with this. They worked really hard just to make a clearing in the home so people could walk through, there was stuff everywhere. It hurts them because if people drive from far away & the item was pulled, the company gets blamed & then is given negative reviews.

It’s not all about making money, you do a great job of preserving history and if a candy box makes you happy that’s great, add some charcoal or some of the moisture packs to the rice to help remove moisture from that sign.

Renee.....Did you happen to see the ceramic Christmas tree near where you found the Douglas Fundge box? At least I "think" that is what it was. It just caught my eye because it was so different. It was white and mssing the bulbs. What a fun sale!

Yes, I realized afterwards that they were bulbs. I guess my brain is wired to think of the boxes as tube sized 🎶 I would have had to outrun the person, that hat is mine now! 🙂 Yes, that cabinet was the one that I bought. I can display the Douglass box on it!
The 1934 Felt banner COULD have been for a class graduation or reunion. I've seen many similar in old photos (and even old movies!)
That could be what it is for, it makes sense considering the size & that it would have been displayed in a photograph.
Hi Renee! Your finds were wonderful. The Fort Knox license plates are very good and should bring in a lot cash. The green 1934 flag might be from the 1933/1934 Chicago World's Fair/A century of Progress. 1934 also marked the centennial of Chicago - 1834 to 1934. If it is made of felt it may have been used indoors rather than outdoors. This is just a guess on my part. I watch a could worlds fair videos on TH-cam and didn't spot it yet. It's a great research item. It could also be from a college.
I was thinking college. I’ll take an original World’s Fair item though! That’s one thing that I need to read more on - the World’s Fairs.

I just left an estate sale here in Texas, on. Monday. It was 70% off (3rd day). There is never a picker sale, every item is priced. Would love to bring a bag to pay and be told $10. I would get a Concussion from my head hitting the floor😊
Wow, 70% off. Our sales here usually do 50% on the last day. There are sales where everything is priced, those aren’t usually the “digger” sales so I don’t attend those as often.
I hate when that happens. I’m currently in the process of starting my own estate sale/clean out company and I’m making sure that my contracts are fine tuned and the family will be made known in plenty of time that they need to take what they want out before I have the sale because in my contract, it basically states that anything removed from the premise for either an estate sale or a clean out after set date, and after the contract has been signed, they will be charged a percentage for each item that has been removed. I feel like they need to go through everything before hand because as business owner that makes my business look bad to other people.
If the ownersthink they might have a problem with seeing people walking out with things maybe they should not stay in the house when the sale is happening.

Renee. If you spray old papers or pages of old books with disinfectant spray and then air removal in a sun lightened area for a short time. That mildew smell will be gone!

That candy box is a cute one.
The cabinet is great. Wipe it down, let it dry and then put lots of wood oil on it. You won't believe what that will do. Go to Home Depot or whatever store you have and see what they have. Nice find!!
Wow looks like a fun estate sale !! Fort Knox license plates!! live about 30 minutes from Fort Knox !! I remember going there on a field trip in the 5th or 6th grade.

Hope it was not "The Thing from Another World"! I'd get that anniversary clock for the various parts...if brass. Like that vintage portable radio from the 1940s...that would be coming home with me! Those cylinders are stereo speakers from the late 50s made in Japan. I remember those black and yellow Ca license plates. the metal tab was the yearly registration id. The red "V" was for vets who got a free registration. Your adventure brings back fun memories of my basement adventures...I have many things from vintage floor lamps, two beautiful vintage book cases, Lionel Train equipment...the list goes on...no more basement goodies here, these days, in fact estate sales are few and far in-between, most stuff is from the 70s-early 2000s...way to new for my interests! I see a vintage candle stick Western Electric Phone...I have several...where did you get yours??? The little black Scotty Dog on your candy box reminds me of the Remler Scotty...Remler Radio Company's logo...Remler Radios were manufactured here in San Francisco during the early 30s-early 50s. The building is still here, with the faded Remler name. The yellow Ft Knox plate is from the year I came on the scene...1943...that one I'd keep if I had found it! Too bad I did not know you and your interest in things paper...in the "old days" of my basement explorations, I saw piles of the very ephemera you like so much, tossed out! I did go through it and found items related to radio and TV products in the form of service info. and consumer ads and pamphlets, which I still have.

So much to see that the brain becomes overwhelmed. I’ll have to check out the Remler company & see what their advertising was like!

There is a photo on the bay for sale that features soldiers sitting on an army car with that same license plate you have on the front of car. Those plates are your money, great job on this wonderful sale.
Great eye finding that on the photo! Another viewer stated they found somewhat newer sold listings for similar plates. Funny how eBay searches aren’t exact & different results show up for people! I know that I receive different results when searching on my phone & then on my laptop.
I felt you had a good hull with items to sell, items to keep. Most of all you enjoyed yourself.

Congratulations Renee. I would have probably snatched the radios. A year and a half ago I sent you a 1930’s Wards catalog. My grandpa who owned it was a radio repairman. Thus the draw towards them. Happy hunting. 😊

Yes, around 2:05. I was told he fixed several of the radios in the Marshall County Historical Center in Plymouth, In. You would have enjoyed him. A history buff as well.

Nice treasures, Renee! Bummer about the owners confiscating stuff already purchased - that's another reason to put things in your vehicle after purchasing. I couldn't be in any space with mold.
Some memories are more important than money. Ì would protect the candy box with clear varnish or perhaps sticky backed clear plastic.
I see a 1942 Fort Knox plate that sold on eBay on 7/17/24 for $200. A 1944 sold on 5/16/24 for best offer on a $300 listing. One other 1942 but a white, maybe, plate sold for $99 on 6/24/24. I searched under Fort Knox motorcycle plate. Great finds!
