    The melody for the 2nd movement sounds much like the melody in the 3rd movement of Mahler's 1st symphony.

    At the very beginning of the final movement of Myaskovsky's 15th symphony one can hear laughter at the ongoing endeavor to listen to all of Myaskovsky's 27 symphonies. This is quickly followed by merriment and celebration, and then appreciation and admiration, followed with compassion and understanding, and finally the deserved glorification for the listener's long slog.

      yes, Doug, this is a return to symphonic form as the first of a triumverate of 4 mvt. symphonies of form and structure akin to Beethoven, after M. strayed from such conceptualization in #'s 10-14.
