When i was a beginner I taught my horse to back when I tapped her sides with my legs after putting my feet forward. She backed up but would stop when my legs when quiet. I did this today, and what a game changer! I just had to lift the reins and she was so soft! Thank you!!
Thank you for this, I was working with a horse who kept stiffening and pushing his nose out and up every time I asked for a back, and sometimes it led to me getting frustrated as I see other horses online easily backing up with little pressure. I have learned to remember though that it takes lots of consistency and those horses online might have been just as bad at the start, but they just don't video it. I'll try to take this slower approach and improve the back a little everyday!
What impresses me most is your awareness of how the horse is feeling😊
Thank you for that
