I am a Gambian immigrant in the US ( 1990 to Present ) after several talks/conversations he decided to come stay with us to help him redeem what was left of the legacy / music. We flew him to the states on February 2014 and lived with us for a little over a month. We helped with medical assistance but Frankie must have seen the end. He wanted to go home at the risk of medical loosing what we setup for him, he qualified for free medical treatment, personal assistant. Unfortunately a few months ( my wife told him , you will die in Jamaica you are better off to get better medical attention ) he passed away. Frankie can see a little bit…. He taught me how to cook Oxtail and other dishes ( have hilarious videos …. HE IS FUNNY !!! Excellent sense of humor ! Good work Sir , he is happily resting with the ancestors. We still have his voice messages memorialized on our Land phone. We travel quite a bit & when the mailbox is full we erase all the messages but Frankie . It is eerie to visit his voice. Love & Respects.

Frankie Paul was a good singer I wouldn't called him great, he never reached up to that as Gregory Isaacs, Delroy Wilson's, John Holt, Alton Ellis, just to mentioned a few of great singers.I remember when he started out as young boy,he has a very good vocal. Most of his songs was covered version,a singer cannot great without several original hits songs,ok

@@blairboyd5617 he may be great to his fans & I’m not sure you alone can rate all these great musicians/legends . Your opinion is debatable ,but i will be foolish to debate you since you have your own personal views. Can we just enjoy the genre & stay away from comparisons ? Respectfully , it is easy to generate a fake handle & spew stuff out in cyber space with abandon. Love & Respects to all who contributed to Black culture including our allies from other Races.

The difference between you and those who without a doubt know that FP was a great, legendary singer.. is that you think greatness is measured by popularity and we know it is measured by skill and talent. Some of the artist you mentioned were not better singers than Frankie, they were just more marketable for the times they were in. Also, if you believe that Frankie did not have original tunes then it goes to show that you don't even know enough of his catalog to have a real say on his abilities.
Furthermore, singing covers (and singing them well and sometimes even better than the original artist) is a commendable talent (Look at Sanchez!). A lot of well known tunes are written by producers and writers and hardly ever solely by the artist themselves anyway!
That's like saying a chef cannot be great by having his own spin on well known meals.. or an athlete cannot be great because he hasn't invented his own sport. Come on now...

Frankie Paul!!! One of the greats Jamaican version of Stevie Wonder🥥🚦🌴 to see someone that is blind and still showing how talented he was is amazing. I think he deserves more credit than little bit his name is hardly being brought up and the industry should do more better in taking care of the artists that put in work.

If you outside people don't know what you are talking, then you should shut your damn mouths. Because you are not from Jamaica to know what you are talking your trash 🗑️, because there are several black Jamaican singers. Did movies decades ago long before Bob Marley, just got a movie. Jimmy Cliff did his first movie in about 1973 , Rockers was done in 1978 , with a lot of black singers in it. Frankie did a stage show in the U.K. with Dennis Brown, when Frankie hit the stage he tore up the place. One of Jamaica’s greatest singers in any style, there will never be another FP.
The way he was treated upto his death was unforgivable, so many producers earned off FP & didn’t help him when he was suffering or attend his funeral, maximum respect to George Phang & a couple of other producers who turned up.
The benefit event in the U.K. to help Frankie get the leg he needed was a disaster, Frankie didn’t get a cent. To those who took the money, one day karma will reach you ten fold.

Frankie Paul was one of the greatest singers the world as ever heard he had his own sound you would know it was Frankie coming in trus me.. very unique to other artists he was in a category all on his own if you comparing. Golden voice never hear a voice as crisp n silky smooth again. God bless him and family n one day soon I pray we get to hear that voice in the new kingdom.. once I heard that voice I was hooked ❤ but am also a Dennis Gregory Freddie Sanchez fan too it’s a tough one they all up there for me they all didn’t get enough credit ❤ I thank God for real music pure love every time that’s what the world needs. Music don’t need to be slack or stupid to catch a vibe love is the message ❤
