you hear a lot of people dogging on the sizes of the pizza compared to the US, but people also overlook that the small pizza here is $5au and the large (12") is about $15 and our toppings are fresher and better quality, you can get larger pizzas from small pizza shops, which are usually way better than the chain stores like dominoes, but cost more

We live in Brisbane. A lot of people sleep on it (and other cities in Australia trash it), saying it's not as go go go, but it's the perfect place to raise a young family. Plenty of free family spaces/activities, not as expensive as Sydney/Melbourne, or as isolated as Perth. It has a more laid back vibe, which might not be as much fun to visit, but is fantastic to live in.
FYI, The lizard she saw is a water dragon, completely harmless, and we have one that has made our backyard home.

    Hey Dream Team,
As an Ozzie, I gotta clarify a few things...
-The Gold Coast is not Brisbane! It's south of Brisbane! It will be a super-city soon but its not the same
The 'Captain Cook Memorial' is on Point Danger Lookout. The beach it overlooks is Duranbah (D'bah!)
-Brisbane is pronounced, Brisb'n! Not Bris-BAIN!
-Melbourne is pronounced, Melb'n, not Mel-BORN!
-Thongs are Jandals! You wear thongs on your feet!
-We don't sell 'fries'! We sell 'Chips'!
-Kangaroos do not attack cars! They freeze in headlights just the same as 'Hares, Rabbits and Deer!'
-And 'Drop-Bears' are deadly! They will kill you!

You'd think that in the time they'd already been in Australia they'd have heard Aussies pronouncing Brisbane (when they hired their car, for instance) and follow suit rather than making us cringe and grind our teeth with every utterance of "Briz-BAYN". One of the first things a sensible, sensitive traveller in other countries would do is to listen carefully to how place names are pronounced there, or ask/check first rather than butchering them. Some Americans like Tia and Cheveyo, the One Pack Wanderers (great channel), do this. Others tend to reinforce negative stereotypes about US Americans being self-absorbed, uninformed, inattentive, etc.

I love Brissi, I feel like it's suuuper underated. Everyone always talks about Sydney and Melbourne because they are so well known, but Brissi can definetly hold it's own!
Along that walkway beside the manmade beach, {South Bank) there is also a performing arts centre, I saw Hamilton there last year and Chicago just a few days ago. The musuem is also only a short walk away, always fun things to see and do there, especsially for the kids. And in the surrounding blocks there is TONS of resturants, ice-cream parlours, chocolate shops and just plain old shop shops lol. You can even just have a nap on the lawn in front of the river if you like, I see people doing that on their lunch breaks all the time haha.
Unfortunately parking can be a bit of a nightmare, but if your prepared it's not that big of a deal.
I'm leaving out a lot, please don't yell at me for forgetting anything fellow Aussies lol. If you ever do come to Australia, don't overlook Brisbane Neal!

Sometime before our (2023 Twenty Twenty Three) Women's (FIFA Federation Internation Football Association) World Cup Football (Soccer) Tournament from last year is that our Australian Capital Cities each had their very own First Nation's Indigenous Names which are,
Aboriginal Name for Sydney is Warrane (Pronounced) as Wah-rang,
Aboriginal Name for Melbourne is Naarm (Pronounced) as Narr-m,
Aboriginal Name for Brisbane is Meeanjin (Pronounced) as Mee-an-jin,

Aboriginal Name for Perth is Boorloo (Pronounced) as Boor-loo,
Aboriginal Name for Hobart is nipaluna (n is lower case) (Pronounced) as nipah-loonah,
Finally, the Aboriginal Name for Canberra was actually a derived from the word Ngambri. "When Canberra was first settled by Joshua John Moore in 1821, Joshua Moore named his property Kamberri after the local people, because he couldn't get his tongue around the Ng sound, as many people can't, of course.

    • @garyrose9805
      @garyrose9805 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

This depends on where the kangaroos are, out west around Charleville the big reds are very aggressive. Kangaroos hang around the roadside at dawn and dusk because the grass on the edge of the road is lush due to any rain runoff from the road. Kangaroos have decent eyesight and do see you coming but they underestimate the sound, this can be startling and Roos facing away from the road are the potentially dangerous ones. This is because they will push with their feet whilst turning in air so they go from a stop to moving much faster. Unfortunately the moment you scare them and the time it takes for them to escape from you is about just right to meet them in the middle of the road at 100kph. The roo shoo devices pump out a sound they here much earlier so they flee usually before you sight them.

$100 for 4 days but their car insurance would have been astronomically high. One thing about them that annoys me is their constant mis-pronunciation of place names, it doesn't take much effort on their part to ask a local on the correct way to say things. Or they could always google the answer. But after a week they should have known better

@@fc7424 Yes, I do actually. I have lived and worked in the USA, UK and Hong Kong over the decades and I have worked with educated Americans here in Australia. I found that educated Americans are keen to learn local customs and do their research before arriving. I always do the same before I go to another country.
This person stands out when compared to another young American couple about the same age, the 'One Pack Wanderer' channel, who actually ask how place names are pronounced. They show respect and interest for new places and have an enormous following on YT. The OPWs picked up on how to pronounce Melb'n and Brisb'n and even pointed out that they are not pronounced phonetically. That shows their intelligence and maturity beyond this 'girl'.
