    I continue to explore Australia, and my next destination is Brisbane, Queensland!
    Brisbane is the third most populous city in the country. Most people in Australia are immigrants or first or second-generation immigrants. People move here because of the nice climate on most of the East Coast, lifestyle, quality of life, and excellent education system. So, I will visit the University of Queensland with my couchsurfing host who moved here for studying.
    00:00 My Aussie trip continues... in Brisbane!
    01:07 Couchsurfing again. (with latino vibes this time)
    02:29 The University of Queensland campus

    06:19 Meet Bec - my Aussie friend!
    06:51 I feel like home here!!!
    07:28 Shopping in an Aussie supermarket
    08:56 Why an Aussie girl learns Russian
    10:03 Let's explore the city center
    11:15 Is Australia really dangerous?
    12:48 Heading to the sanctuary (and meeting an Indian immigrant)
    14:00 Koala sanctuary
    14:54 I finally met roos!

      @Alex Alex We lived in both countries and with the cultural barriers you have to be in this position to understand that aspect. It’s the small, everyday things that are different. And you feel that mostly while interacting with each others’ families and friends mostly, different customs and mentalities. On top of that, the language barrier since my language is very hard to learn.
      edit-to give you an example or two of cultural differences, Aussies have a thing for small talk that is unusual for us. When I go to a busy supermarket I’m not used to the cashier talking to me about the weather or asking me about my weekend plans😳 To me, it’s paralyzing, I don’t know what to say tbh to “nice weather we’re having”…
      Or say for example it’s my birthday, if I invite some people to a restaurant, for me it means I’m paying, right? And people just bring me some bday presents. Not in Australia it seems, there the guests pay for themselves and for the person whose bday it is. To me, that’s baffling, I mean “inviting” someone somewhere means you’re providing the meal. When you go out on a date, we are less formal, a date can mean a walk, having a coffee, a casual thing, in Australia is normally dinner, a more formal setting.
      And no, it’s not really my obligation to “fix” things, there’s nothing to fix, there are two in a marriage and both have to compromise on some things or adapt in an inter-ethnic marriage. We did but that doesn’t mean that it’s easy to get over these cultural differences.

    • @lolitavine9616
      @lolitavine9616 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@minime7375It's not just about cultural differences, but also about your own character. There are Slavs who don't mind chatting with the saleswoman about the weather. For example, my mother is Russian, she is a sociable extrovert and it is not difficult for her to exchange a few words with a neighbor, cashier, postman or whoever. She will be only too happy to make a new acquaintance. Your introversion complicates things, so it seems to you that these are blatant cultural differences, but this is not quite true.

      Marx couldn't predict Owners of means of diffusion or Owners of means of Digital distribution (like app store, or Steam, or Google play store), but it's the same logic here. Capitalism is going to invent new things like that in the future...with AI, and the "meTaveRSe"
      I mean steam and apple store takes 30% of games sales just because they are the dominant markets. But do they deserve 30 fuc**ing percent of the revenue on a game or an app ?

    • @jackieow
      @jackieow ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ElifromRussia Your English/American accent is very understandable and usually better than 99% free from errors as to content as well. Your Spanish accent pronunciation is better (more like a native speaker) than your already accomplished English, perhaps because of prior exposure to Italian.
      The only word mistake (sort of) I recall from this video is that kangaroos are "muscular" and not "musculous" since "musculous" is a word that doesn't exist in common usage. Technically, the word "musculous" exists in the dictionary, but isn't used in everyday English. This is a very picky detail that a foreign speaker would not be expected to know anyway. Kind of like the word Щелкунчик means Nutcracker (as in the ballet, only) but Щелкунчик would not be used for an everyday nutcracker that someone would use in their house. Or kind of like you could call a person an Amerikanski but more correct would be Amerikanetz. Or people used to call one another tovarisch all the time but today it would be obsolete. So if you say "musculous" people will understand but kind of laugh, and people expect for that usage to hear "muscular." For instance, the computer that screens youtube text right here right now puts red squiggles under "musculous" since the youtube computer is programmed to not have "musculous" in its own vocabulary, so even the youtube computer thinks this word doesn't exist.

    Highly, highly recommend going to Stradbroke Island and staying at Point Lookout where there are 5 very different and unique beaches all within walking distance and the breathtaking Gorge walks. Also a swim in the "Brown Lake" (so coloured because it infused with tee tree oil) which is one of the most revitalising experiences ever! Enjoy your stay!

    Glad you seem to be enjoying your visit Down Under. Brisbane has lots of beautiful natural places to explore, good transport and has grown well culturally. Too hot and humid for me to live up there but it's good for a visit. Not all super hot in Australia -Tasmania is a lot cooler and has very diverse nature. Come on down.

    G'day mate Eli. Nice to see good support from australians which are usually very friendly and helpfull even the "true blue" do. Dont be surprised of the food. At least you will find makkes everywhere and sandwiches even on a servo. From my experience heavy rainfall was mostly on arvo when you go further north to the rainforrests. Well near Brissie dont miss the Glashouse mountains and the scenic road with fantastic views. I am sure you will go further north and dont miss the tiny lovely towns along the coastline and Hervey Bay(whale watching if the time is right) for a base to visit Fraser Island. If you want to go into the outback why not visiting Rubyvale and Saphire to dig for your own gems. Dont forget the thunder eggs. I am sure you would like to dive or snorkel the Great Barrier Reef. dont do from Cairns, head up further north to Port Douglas and take a tour one of the beautifullest places on earth, the Great Barrier Reef with all the nice colours and colourfull fishes you will ever see. Best bargain offered by hostels or backpacker accos but locals should know it as well. From there you will find tours into the northern rainforrests. From cairns its not far to the Aherton tablelands nd take the train ride from Kalundra and back with the gondola through the tops of the rainforrest trees. Wish I could join. I envey you. CU, have fun, take care and be gratefull to the hospitality of the aussies. Thanks for your vids. C'ya Btw, next time I would like to see you with a nicer hat. It must not be the icon of Australia an Akubra (to expensive) hat but a squashy Barmah kangaroo leather hat with a structure which lets cool air breeze go through is good enough. I am sure such a hat will fit you.
