DIG3D - My new 3D probe

  • I bought this 3D probe a few months ago and I thought that it's time to show it. It is a very small one, just as I wanted. The shaft is 6mm in diameter, which is the largest I can have on my small CNC with ER11 collet. The tip is 3mm ball tip, and is made of stainless steel. I measured the ball diameter, and my instruments shows exactly 3mm in every direction, so that is good enough for me. The probe arrived with a lot of concentric error (0.15mm) which is of course useless, but after some tuning using the three grub screws, I tuned it down to 0.03mm, which is OK for now. Later on I will tune it once again to a better precision. I hope you enjoy this video, and please have a look around and see if you find more interesting videos about my activities.

Please note that this video is not sponsored in any way by the manufacturer. I paid full price for this unit, without any discount or any benefits.

Excellent review! That's what I needed to see - a nice calm description, combined with nice clear video, This probe's small size seems like it would work with my Shapeoko Pro CNC router, which is a nice machine but only has 4 inches of Z travel. I'm going to forward your video to some other "weekend-warrior" CNC guys I know. Many thanks from Tucson Arizona USA
