A 4 star usable at C0 is a win these days

@@raulmaltrain6893 so far everyhting after kirara they found a good balance. better than most 5 stars at c6, usable at c0. though pre fontaine, some of them had INSANE ER requirements and their main functionality locked behind burst. im looking at you faruzan.
Despite her restrictive passive, imo she still genuinely is a pretty good 4*, especially if you compare her with other 4* characters that were released post 1.0. In some cases she allows you to set free xq or kazuha for the other side, which is also a good thing.
The restrictive passive isn't a problem to her power level. It's just that she does close to nothing unless you fully commit to pyro and electro team and that feels bad
She's not pretty good, she's amazing lol. She's legit up there with the release four stars with how much she does. She heals, shreds resistance for TWO elements for free where any unit can proc and refresh it...she offers healing, with a team heal at C6, she offers energy to the team per rotation with C1, a 40 percent attack buff just by herself, with 20 percent more with Noblesse if you decide to use that, and she does fantastic personal damage for a four star. She offers 60 percent elemental damage boost at C6 which just a mere 15 below a C0 FURINA. She's fucking GOATed because her power budget was evenly split through her entire kit and cons...she doesn't have a shitty constellation, nor is C6 gated like all of the Sumeru 4 stars, nor is she energy hungry like the Inazuma four stars with shit damage (Sayu, Thoma, Kuki without hyperbloom, etc...).
It's restrictive but rightfully so I mean it's a whole artifact set on top of her giving 30-40 atk%
yes its restrictive since its only electro and pyro. but with that restriction she bring the same as VV Shreed and atk buff for whole team. i mean if she able to compare to Succrose and Kazuha she is that good. and her cons will bring her buff energy or personal dmg as package is a plus. she really a better *4 since that been release since..... Rosaria or Kuki (because Hyperbloom)
TL;DR she is sure a niche since she restrictive, but she REALLY GOOD at those niche. if people saying restrictive team comp bad its just like saying Lyney or Nilou is bad, and they arent.
@@arunjosephshadrach9539I mean, she's made for overload and they told us from the beginning. That's the same case as dedicated supports and some other cases like kuki in hyperbloom or thoma in burgeon. It doesn't really limit her power, it just makes her more restrictive to which teams you should play her on. At least she brought back a useless reaction.
If she didn't "hinder your creativity" you would just slap her on a team with Xingqiu.

Which is why restrictions often dont hinder creativity because you have to think of creative solutions to work around the restrictions.
I think it's the restrictive passive that actually forces you to play characters you otherwise wouldn't, and focus in on a certain playstyle. We've had enough 8x elemental reaction teams in the last year since Dendro came out that seeing a unit that emphasizes a very underutilized reaction is cool. Much better on a 4-star unit than a 5-star.
Restricted 4*s are to be expected: gorou, mika, sara, faruzan etc. By comparison, Chevy is an extremely versatile unit because she buffs TWO elements instead of one. Part of what makes Nilou so bad is you're paying tons of pulls/dollars to play restricted teams. I'll get a chevy eventually by accident, and it'll be a pleasant surprise and then I can play weird overload teams.

She builds her own team from just f2p units and has 0 overlap with the desired 4*s.
Compare her to any other single 5* team and she clears most of them, add a second 5* which for nilou is nahida and she gets even better.
You don't need kokomi for her.
They were backed into a corner. They couldn't let you have both VV shred and Chev shred on the same team, because it'd be way too strong (shred tends to scale parabolically with itself)
As a wise man once said, "restrictions breed creativity." Chevreuse's elemental restriction encourages you to think about using characters you wouldn't otherwise.
That said, like the other guy said, Nilou is far from restrictive; she's actually one of the least restrictive 5-stars. She works with pretty much every Hydro and Dendro character out there, including the F2P ones, whereas many other 5-stars need specific teammates to work.
@@luminous3558First. Nilo IS restrictive. You can only use 2 elements with her thats the definition of restriction. Also she theoretically doesn't need 5 star characters just like Kuki theoretically didn't need Dendro. Her power level skyrocket once you have Nahida, and your rotations get way faster once you also get Kokomi.
I think this character is an A tier character on release who will probably age like fine wine with Natlan. She allows you to play kazuha on the other side of abyss and great for boss enemies.
The only issue is that currently her teams are pretty singlet target impact which leaves out one of the reasons you wanted to play kazu anyway. Not the pog damage but the grouping.
Maybe we just need a more aoe focused carry for her like arlechinno.
@@wilburforce8046Much more often than not, grouping is irrelevant because you are fighting big mobs that can't be grouped.
It's only really relevant in speedrunning.
I think that whole "Play Kaz on the other side" thing is overblown. Look at Sucrose usage rate in the Abyss. It's garbage. And yet she's regarded as a very powerful four star, with the various catalyst weapon options, and is one without the teaming restrictions. People already build teams that don't need/want Kaz. And that's what they'll use over having to deal with building electro/pyro characters they wouldn't otherwise use to pair with Chev.
As far as aging goes, it is a double sided sword. On one hand, with time, you will have more character options that go with her. But conversely, you'll also have more character options that don't go with her. And the odds of those 5/7th offering more overall rewarding team building options than the 2/7ths she does pair with... well, just remember people said that "get better with more options" thing about Lithic weapons as well. Then there's the Natlan copium. Natlan will probably have a gimmick, since that looks to be the way of Genshin these days. If that gimmick isn't Overload related, then likely it'll result in new characters that don't want Chev on the team.
Now, is it all doom and gloom for Chev? Nope. She has some nice options now, and future-wise, all it takes is one "right character" for Chev to shine, much like how Kuki's hyperbloom status.

@@Axterix13 Sucroses usage is bad because she feels terrible to play compared to kazuha and lacks his grouping, damage and selffocused targeting.
Unless you onfield her(in which case you gotta deal with her NA animations) she just isnt comparable to kazuha.
Bosses like the Hydro Tulpa raise the value of Chevreuse

That's what I've been thinking. In the 2nd event stage I played overburn and it was fun as heck. I get why they didn't want her to be paired with hydro or anemo, but at least let her work with dendro.
@@Personpersonpersonperson That's technically Nilou - her Bountiful Blooms are essentially Burgeon with, ironically enough, more restrictions but less effort (Barbara/DMC/Collei/Nilou is a solid team and 3 of the 4 characters are free. Stack EM on Barbara with some HP on the side, use her as your driver and watch everything explode).
Edit: There was a ton of extra stuff that didn't add much to the convo, so I tossed it.
A support that almost have everything, despite the restriction teams. ATK buff, DMG buff (at c6), healing and resistance shred.
Despite how resticted she may seem, she is honestly so much more flexible than other 4 star supports like Yun Jin, Mika, Kujo Sara, Gorou, etc.
On top of that, her ease of build rivals Bennett and her support rivals kazuha which is insane on its own, but the fact that shes complete and perfectly fine at C0 makes me believe shes the best 4 star since Kuki by far
She's not very restrictive at all, you can make a LOT of teams, she literally makes Overload viable, if not pretty damn good since most Abyss floors have heavy ass mobs that can't be tossed around, anyways...and, it's still CC because it pushes mobs back from Yanfei, Lyney, Yae, etc... and literally gives Dehya her first actual non cope team with Lyney or Yanfei because of the resistance interruption and off field pyro app that's slow, so it's great for Overload and keeping up the passives lol. That's pretty damn amazing for a FOUR star to be doing.
By the way, she's not restrictive since you can still use an anemo, you just don't get the resist shred, but you still get it since you are using VV on an anemo anyways, you still get the healing, damage buff from C6 and the attack buff... so it's really not restricting her since you gain back what you "lost" anyways.
@@marcusaurelius4777 its not overloads thats made viable, u dont build the teams for overload. Overload is just a means to an end for her to increase the teams raw dmg numbers
@@marcusaurelius4777 Only pyro and electro characters get the atk buff, and if you included her and say kazuha, you still need an electro and then who else? That would be an incredibly scuffed team comp.
@@Sam-up4ul That's a pretty normal team comp. Healer + VV + DPS + SubDPS is a pretty archetypal team building strategy
I've done a fair bit of abyss testing with her. Zajef is spot on For Raiden and Yae teams (sometimes boths), Xianglin feels like the better unit to pair with her. It was cutting side 1 clears down by a good 10 seconds. Not having to play circle impact is a great benefit. Especially for bosses that you have to chase. Honestly I think locking power behind restrictive team building is a good thing. The reason every four star character and some c0 five star characters feel bad when stacked up against the majority of 1.0 ensemble is because the original character all have a very high power ceiling with very little restrictive team building. That's why the majority of the 1.0 and 2.0 meta was find DPS with the biggest club and pair them with XQ or XL. People were complaining about c6 bennet because it restricts some of his teams. Fontaine characters feel great to build and play and will stay relevant because they enable niches (healers, mono, crystallise, overload) that just weren't viable before. I haven't had so much fun building characters in a long time because insert (OG character isn't the best option for this team). More fun than the introduction of Dendro, which just felt like a they power crept transformative reactions to the point where bloom teams became the best default. That said I'm also a 1.0 player so have been playing with the OG cast a long time.
Yoimiya, Chevreuse, Fishle, Beidou...I am a little bit afraid for Yoimiya to not join their one-eye cult, wish she will not choose a fork.

It's true that her passive is restrictive to overload team, but I don't think it's limiting creativity. More like it's the other way around. Not most players will use pyro and electro characters together, but with Chevy you can let your imagination wander to take advantage of her utility with overload teams. She also can work to some degree like Bennett and Kazuha in terms of buffing and debuffing and that's huge given that these two characters are always must-haves on many teams.
The reason why I recently enjoyed using Fontaine characters liker Furina, Navia, and her was because they allowed me to use healers and crystallize and overload reactions efficiently which I wouldn't use without them at this point in the game.
I hope we can get a good off field Pyro applier other than XL to diversifie our teams a bit more xO

As I'm not a fan of VV and vaporize, Chevreuse kinda helps me with my skill issues. Her buffs trigger condition is so easy
Something very important to note for certain players: C6 Chevruse is an upgrade over Kazuha in Raiden Hyper.
I don't have c6 but chevy is already better than my c0 kazuha (w xiphos, lvl90, just under 1000 em) in raiden hyper, at least in single target. Note: raiden is my favorite character, I have her c2r1. I find raiden/sara/xiangling/chevy to be the most comfortable variant, but raiden/sara/chevy/bennett gives me the biggest numbers on raiden and noticeably outperforms kazuha. Ofc you lose grouping and his personal aoe dmg, which are quite significant, but it doesn't matter in the current bossing top half. I'm getting best results by proccing one last overload w bennett c6 NA before bursting.
Nah, don't forget that kazuha's burst deals a lot of damage in raiden hyper

Ngl I prefer this version of the 1st impressions videos compared to the others. It feels like a combination of both the 1st impression vids and the post release vids, making a very informative 1st impressions masterpiece 👌
I think is contradictory to say Chevreuse kit restriction limits creativity, because let's be honest, core National team comp throws creativity out of the window from the start, for buffing a element, use Kazuha, why botter, 0 creativity, but with Chevy, you have another option to buffing, you only use 2/3 of the National core, so you need to think well what pyro or electro unit use, and what kind of obstacles you need to resolve where with Anemo or Geo can resolve (or better say, Kazuha and Zhongli can resolve), and if you think about it, if her kit haven't a restriction and you can combine with VV, you broke the game basically, but if you reduce her buff kit, then why use her over Kazuha or another VV user if not near of buffing, so I think in the end, this restrinction was a necesary curse for she be a good character to use in general and view an practically abandoned reaction that is overload even if overload was an excuse.
Yeah, anything that pushes Benny, Xingqiu, and Kaz to the side improves creativity, rather than limits it.

You could already play KQ without Dendro, and it was really bad. You would just be trading 40% from swirl for to 40% from overload, which is more obnoxious and comes from a character with no off field DPS. If your Bennett is C6? RIP. Sounds like an exercise in frustration.

Freeing up Kazuha, heck, even being compared equally to Kazuha is a great win, even with the restrictions in place. And hey, playing some new teams could be fun, finally Overload is given a chance.

She's fantastic for a modern 4* character.

I'm surprised Zajef didn't talk about Hyper Raiden where Cheveruse replaces Kazuha. Her support capability is very close to Kazuha in that team.
You can't maintain the 6 seconds passive since you're not doing overloads, VV has 10 seconds
Also Kazuha swirl buff lasts 18 seconds with his Q while Chevy lasts 8 but it's 20% more DMG bonus

VV shred doesn't reproc with Kazuha's Q when he's off-field btw, and Kazuha in a Raiden hyper team has to be on-field to reapply electro VV shred whereas Chev's pyro/electro shred can be applied when she's off-field so long anyone (on-field/off-field triggers overload), this means hyper Raiden Chev rotations would be like
Raiden E -> Chev EQ -> C6Bennett EQ -> Sara EQ -> Raiden pyroN1Q (Chev C6 Bennett and Sara and Raiden w/ C6 Bennett can all trigger overload which means by the time you cast all your buffs and swap to Raiden who will then pyro infuse N1 inside C6Bennett's burst to refresh the shred before she uses Q can make use of the full 6 seconds electro shred
Which is about the same amount of time Raiden makes use of Kazuha's VV swirl shred since standard Raiden Kazuha rotations are Raiden E -> Kazuha EQ -> Bennett EQ -> Sara EQ - Raiden Q (by the time you press Raiden Q you already used up 4 out of the 10 seconds of the VV electro shred after kazuha goes off-field so you're left with 6 seconds which is the same amount of time chev's shred provides, pair that Chev also provides 1% ATK boost for every 1000HP for all pyro and electro characters in the party for 30 seconds, which caps at 40% ATK = 40,000 HP Chev, on average most people building Chev will reach 30K HP easily which is already 30% ATK
I think C0 Chev is a good side-grade to Kazuha for Pyro/Electro teams and C6 Chev is better in those teams than Kazuha, this also means it frees Kazuha to be playable on the other half teams that want Kazuha (for Abyss, or for combat events with multiple teams are required) right now I'm running C0 Raiden C6 Bennett C6 Sara C0 Chev in 1st half of floor 12 and all my 2nd half teams who want Kazuha are really happy that he's there
Yes I know Sucrose and other Anemo units who can carry VV exist but majority of my playtime is spent with Kazuha in those teams so having the freedom to play Kazuha on those teams while my C0 Chev is taking care of my pyro/electro carry teams is very liberating for my account and not having to just play dendro/hyperbloom or Sucrose teams on the 2nd half, which tbf are still good but I like having more and more variety.
One of my fav C0 Chev teams rn I run on 1st half floor 12 is C0 Yoimiya C0 Chev C6 Bennett C6 Fischl and my C0 Kazuha is free to run around with whatever 2nd half team that I want

@@Gimu_san Thank you for reminding me about Bennett C6. I was considering just going Xiangling over Bennett for the off-field Pyro but I really wanted to go nuts with the hypercarry and the Pyro-infused normal right before Raiden burst is the missing piece of the puzzle.
From my testing, Raiden, Xiangling, Sara, Chevvy was by far and beyond the best performing team. It's actually comparable or better than any other Raiden team I've ever used.
Question, in what way is Sara better than Bennett in that slot? You’re getting more on Raiden, but a lot less on Xiangling.
@@tonydai782that’s because I assume they’re using Raiden as the main damage dealer, and Sara buffs her a lot, Xiangling is there as a sub dps, Bennett isn’t some kind of must have for every team…
@@tonydai782Sara's burst damage has larger damage multipliers than Bennett's. Also standing on Bennett burst makes it easier for Tulpa to 1-shot you
Maybe if C2 raiden. I prefered her with xiangling yae miko and fischl
I never bothered with hyper Raiden because I was not a c6 Sara owner. I am now and currently she's not built because I wanted to test Chevy teams first. Raiden, Yae, Chevy, Xiangling was the top performing team for me. Yae pairs so well with Chevy though so we'll see

I'd like to point out something about the Yoimiya team, Thoma works exceptionally well with her because he provides the shield, which when used with a normal attacking character rivals Zhongli/Layla shields, and he buffs normals at c6. (Makes use of Bolide Yoimiya then if you wanted Petra for support Navia/Ningguang too).
thoma provides a shield and nothing else, the c6 buff is minor.
beidou provides better damage, some shield, some DR, and electro resonance when paired with fischl.

Finally a timely notification.
Pleasantly surprised how well she performs at C0. I'm not gonna be pulling on the banners atm, so here's hoping we get her for free in an event like Freminet. Might be possible since the film event kinda teased us that they might expand on her character later.
Big ups to Zajef and the editing team for these videos, and good luck to the Chevreuse wanters out there.
I love her and Nilou's restrictions. They get creative teams that aren't just the same BiS units. Nilou enables characters that are otherwise bad such as Collei and Barbara to shine, which I think is awesome.
Chevreuse enables herself to be a great 4* at C0 in her niche. Instead of wishing for her to be another universal Xingqiu-like unit that you can play with the Xingqiu you already have, making 3/4ths the same teams we already had but with 1.5% more sheeted dps in some situations... I prefer this by a large margin. 😇

Thinking of the Nilou/Chevreuse comparison, I wonder if Shenhe would have an "only cryo" or "only cryo and hydro" condition if she was released today.
restrictions are fine, especially if they are a 4* like her. It forces you to play characters differently, because let’s be honest, if she doesn’t have that restriction you’d still probably use a VV user again on the team. They could reduce her numbers instead for balancing, but that would probably hurt her maximum performance more than making her more versatile. Doesn’t it feel fresh to use carries that doesn’t rely in anemo VV? even though her kit is basically a VV, it’s still different flavor.
12:44 I think it's just the opposite - restrictions and opportunity cost are what drive players creativity. In General. The problem is that Genshin is a very simple game in structure, which does not have many options to circumvent these limitations.
Yae mika feels so good with chevreuse. She was already decent in overload with bennett xiangling but now with chevreuse it feels better than her aggravate teams. Wish i could have chevreuse c6 though

It's not, please stop lol. I use Yae Aggravate with a C2 nahida, C2 Kaz, and a filler unit like Kuki with Tenacity or some shit, hell, even C6 Furina for Quickbloom Yae and overload Yae with Chev is just fine. It's still obviously better to use her in Aggravate for PERSONAL dps for her, but for team dps in overload with Chev and well invested non copium all Fav holding shit build support teams like most Genshin players have...it's fantastic. Lyney, Yae, Chev, Fischl is fantastic dps. You need to stop coping and doomposting. I was hitting pretty damn hard with Yae, not as much as my Yae quickbloom with Furina, but still, WAYYYYY harder than I thought I would be able to do. @@lostblueboy
@@lostblueboyYae is very flexible. Personally, while I play her in a dendro team, I really love on field Yae with Thoma, since his flame arc covers the same ground as her attacks.

Nice to see that we have a 4 star actually worth building after quite a while 😭. The pyro/electro exclusively thing is a bummer since I don't...run any overload teams. I'm not pulling on the Raiden or Yoimiya banner, so I'm not gonna get a Chevreuse, but perhaps in the future she might have a more solid place in teams that are actually worth using.
raiden has been my EM bot since nahida came out, but I finally gave her some dps artifacts just to try with chevreuse 😊 it's been fun playing her on field again
I hope she will have more good teams when we step on the land of natlan.
My current Favorite team with her is Bennett, Fischl, Chevreuse, Xiangling. Fischl and Xiangling have their usual build (with no em), Chevreuse runs noblesse and Bennett is built with damage using a Golden Troupe set
Tbh u can just boot bennet and put more dmg like yae miko. She also a better battery then bennet for xiangling

that last team with yae, fischl, chevreuse, xiangling was my first thought when i heard her kit and i made a comment on your first video discussing her so im glad i actually cooked and wasn't a complete moron. another upside to that team btw is yae has EM scaling built into her kit which allows her to use EM sands to do good talent damage
If she is this good in c0 as a 4star I would say she is a good unit and another character in my list of "hope I get the c6 soon".

Zajef most likely wouldn't like any character that has team restriction such as this Chev, just like when he gave impressions on Nilou's restriction. I can cleary see it, despite his bias or anything, he prefer a char that's flexible in team comp. Maybe he wanna position himself as f2p players perspective.

I don't know about the whole F2P perspective thing, I think it is simply as he said it. Having characters that basically don't function outside of a very specific niche limits the options players have with teams they use them in. Has nothing to do with F2P or not, simply that you aren't gonna be using this character outside of specific situations.
From a f2p perspective she is amazing since this banner gives you a fully functioning raiden team. Alternatively you can swap bennett for xiangling if you got her c4.
Zajef is kinda theorycrafting for his own account and others who have similar "f2p but playing since launch" resources which is completely different from new players who won't have 4* cons on 1.0 characters.
Best new player advice rn is to grind story and exploration and then pull on a banner you like to get a team you enjoy and this banner fits that bill pretty well. Raiden is still decent and the 4*s all support her.
For people who are still newish and are looking to take their account in a more focused direction the only real advice is going into theorycrafting communities and getting their account evaluated. General advice doesnt work much in genshin as rng makes all accounts different and it takes a bit of time for there to be patterns of characters that most people have(if they go for them).

Despite her restrictions, she's the best 4 star unit to come out since YaoYao.
I've actually enjoyed running her with Fischl, XL, Bennett. I have her c4 so I treat her like Navia (front load a bunch of damage) and use Bennett to cover any down time. This really only works because I have both her and Bennett built for damage with the latter having c6 and for former having Homa. It isn't the best team but it is very viable for abyss (the Tulpa can still be a nightmare due to Bennett's burst letting vape it's attacks though).
I was going to skip her due to high pity, but then the Xianyun kit leaks left me uninterested in getting her, so I went for Raiden and some cons for my c4 Sara. And Chevy came home 7 times over 90 pulls like the legend she is! I'm having such a great time experimenting with her teams. So far I've been mostly reviving my long-benched Yafei, but I'm excited for the Lyney combos as well.
Is the new support set viable on her? Will zajef do a video talking about this artifacts? I don't know if it worth for Charlotte, Mika, etc instead Noblesse
Honestly a unit that can free up xingu or an anemo unit or both while still having the team be a small downgrade or a side grade is kinda insane for a four star at C0, her value pretty much entirely lies in freeing up better units in abyss which can be quite helpful
Got her C0 and I didn’t realize she works so well with Lyney who I have at C0 with his signature. I’m happy she’s a Kazuha replacement because as much as I love Kazuha, I don’t want him to be the main buffer in so many of my teams lol
I prefarmed her whole support build without even having a plan for her team in mind, thinking I'd play her with Yoi or Raiden... but I ended up giving her a dps build and using her in a quickswap nuke team with Sara (also on a dps build) , Fischl and Bennett. It's not a GOOD team, but it's so fun and I have enough investment to make it work.
Lyney with EM Raiden, feels so good man, that fcking insane Overloads of Raiden are pleasant to see.
I really disagree with the fact that restricting team building to balance a unit’s power level is a bad design choice or limits team building. It limits you from using the usual suspects (Kazuha, ZL, etc) sure, but often it opens up using characters in new ways (like a Xiangling built for damage being used without Bennett for once with Chevreuse) or using characters that are kind of bad everywhere else, but are situationally good in the restricted teams (Barbara and Candace in Nilou teams). That to me makes team building more interesting
If you don’t want to play a meta unit than don’t do so, it’s really not that hard.
But don’t encourage a gacha game to release niche units who have a passive that forces them one archetype that can easily be hard-counter or replaced.
This is like causal players who want powercreep in a open world exploration game because “WAAAAAA I DONT LIKE USING A UNIT THAT GOOD AND IS A FOUR STAR”
I think glossing over Yanfei here was a huge oversight. Just had the easiest 1st try 36* Abyss randomly deciding to try Yanfei + Chevreuse. Here's why:
1.) Yanfei has deceptively MASSIVE f@ck!ng range. Girl can charge attack enemies almost half an abyss chamber away, making circle impact with Benny not a problem even with 15 knockbacks from overload.
2.) If played correctly, can sprint and charge attack without using stamina, making her versatile VS any enemy attack pattern.
3.) She applies so much goddamn Pyro with crit that you will NEVER lose pyro aura, meaning you can run something like EM Raiden just for stagger / overload dmg and Raiden will ALWAYS be the one triggering.
Raiden Chevy Benny all have super low investment cost in this team. Your dmg is just Yanfei + Raiden Overloads. So if you already like Yanfei enough to invest in her, she's all you need to invest in. Artifacts are flexible with Wandering Troupe / Lavawalker / Crimson Witch / Shimenawa / Marechaussee all being decent options.
Now I know it's an overall weak abyss right now, but I can't stress enough how easy my Yanfei side was. Made my aggravate team on the other side feel sweaty in comparison.
I’ve tested her with Raiden, Sara and Bennett and I honestly love the team 🤣 I’m not here to be sweaty gamer or to be some meta player, but I honestly love it

A note for Yoimiya teams - against a lot of bosses, who tend to have slow telegraphed attacks, you can easily run her with Bennet and thoughtful positioning. There are wide enough windows to unload a bunch of attacks before you need to dodge and with a C6 Fischl, this comp shreds (literally and figuratively). If you need to dodge a lot, then I'd rather play her with a proper shielder in a vape or mono pyro comp anyway.
Took me 64 wishes to get her but at least I did before 5* pity. I would have had to stop if I didn’t. So far trying her with Raiden has felt pretty good, but I’ll have to try that Yae variant too! I’m a little undecided if I like her kit or not. But I love her design visually at least, and skill/burst FEEL good to use despite the low numbers lol.

Restrictive but good in certain niche its actually good 4* design, imo. That's why i like Chevreuse kit, but dislike Nilou kit. 5* should be more versatile. And this is should be main difference between 5* and 4*.

Technically speaking her attk buff works for pyro and electro units outside a pure electro pyro team
It is a source of some anxiety how we talk about constellations. For example I have c0 raiden and I feel there is zero point playing her as hypercarry without c2. Why? Of course it won't do nearly as much damage but what if its still the best team damage wise I can put together. I feel like we should put more emphasis on announcing which constellations are required to make certain teams work vs just a dmg increase.
You can build Chevy to work in teams that are not just pyro/electro, you just have to accept losing a part of her kit and use her for the rest of her kit. Similar to EM Raiden only being used for her E and ER buff. So with Chevy you lose the res shred but still have the healing, attack buff, and her personal damage ramp as long as overloads still happen.
Personally I'm building her as an Overload Pyro DPS with EM/CV crimson witch and Staff of Scarlet Sands, She only has about 20kHP(closer to 25k once she is fully built) but she has almost 700EM and 1600attack before external buffs. The team I'm starting out with for her is EM Kuki, C6 Bennet, and Fischl with the Elegy. I could also use Kuki, Kazuha, and Nahida for an Overburn team with Chevy being the pyro provider for burn extended by Kazuha Q and swirl for the res shred with VV and Kuki as the main Overload trigger with Nahida ramping the burn, and provided Kazuha is C2 then both he and Nahida ramp EM. Chevy's attack buff is not as important here, but it still boosts damage across the rotation, and she loses the res shred but this is still a good team for her to run a personal DPS build as a Burst DPS.
So is chevreuse an upgrade to some of the more common pyro or electro teams aside from possibly raiden hyper? As in, if you have good units like kazuha, bennett, XQ, furina etc all available, does chevreuse actually improve upon them? Or is she more like a "if you can't swirl or if you need to free a top tier unit for another team" kind of character?
in teams where you have bennett and chev, would it be better to run noblesse on chev and SODP on bennett since he heals more? or does his healing cap affect it?
also the yanfei + chev combo’s actually working pretty well for me, it can clear this abyss quite easily on both sides

I want to sort of point out that her res-shred is 40% which is the same as VV. So you CAN use her without her passive as long as you bring a vv. So there are other team comps.

I actually think Chevreuse’s team restriction was done in a much better way than Nilou’s, especially if you consider her “complete” kit at C6.
Since Nilou is basically only a walking passive, there’s zero reason to use her outside of Hydro/Dendro teams, which makes her restriction much more suffocating in terms of team building.
Chevreuse on the other hand still has her 20-40 Atk% buff, healing, mini grouping, personal damage (C4), and 20-60 Dmg% buff (C6) if you break her restriction. This makes it viable to break the restriction, turning it into more of a trade-off: Do you want her 40% res shred, or the power of Vaporize/Aggravate/stronger grouping + Swirls.
If Chevreuse didn’t have this restriction I think she would actually be more straightforward and boring, and potentially just broken. When they make restricted kits in future I’d definitely want Chevreuse over Nilou

Her healing is minor. Her personal damage means you reduce the atk buff% and takes up on-field time that can be better spent elsewhere typically. The atk% buff is limited to pyro and electro characters only. The C6 buff requires on-field time to build up. Her grouping might as well not exist. And then you have ease of use restrictions, where you potentially have to change up your rotation to get that Overload in. The pyro can mess up things, like burning away dendro app, which limits dendro character options. The character slot she's typically competing for is a buffer/debuffer slot. So she's the character getting the boot that results in the team being non-pyro/electro only.
Basically, the more diverse the team, the lower the benefits, the more the hassles, and the greater the opportunity cost. Like I'd sooner toss in a hydro into an aggravate team, going Quickbloom, than Chev. Fewer hassles, stronger character options (hiya, Furina!).

I found the 4* released since Kirara pretty good. I often find myself using Kirara over Baizhu (who's pretty well-invested), just because she's a lot of fun. My Kirara is not C4 either, so not even that good at applying dendro, but she's really good with quick swap teams, which many electro units can do rather easily. Freminet, while constricted by physical, can still work pretty well with melt, and Furina did help him quite a lot, even freeing Xingqiu for the other team, since he just needs consistent hydro application, but not as much as Xingqiu does anyway. Charlotte, I think, is probably one that surprised me the most - her burst can max out fanfare stacks easy and fast, even with talent level 1 (granted, mine is C3, but I think you really only need C1 for good healing). I got a fair share of use out of the free (C0) Lynette we got in 4.0 - she's really fun to use imo, and worked well enough in the Abyss for me.
Now we get Chevreuse and soon, Gaming, who is also looking like a competent C0 character.
I really like the 4* we have gotten since Kirara. They've all been usable and pretty good even at C0 or lower cons like C1, which is really good going forward. (I also really like Kaveh's kit and I will stand by it even though he's nowhere near as good lmao, that said he does kinda need C6 to work so I don't think it's fair including him)
Question: Is Raiden, Chev, Xiang, Sara C6 a bad option?
Is Sara's buff, resonance and benefit of being able to run across the map (specially in an overload team) overshadowed by Bennett buff + Xiang's snapshot pyronado?
I think the problem there would be the major drop off in healing, plus Sara being in generally more clunky. Buff-wise, the effect can be about equal, since Sara could manage to provide the buff for both Xiangling and Raiden, just that's where the clunkiness in Sara's kit lies. Electro synergy won't matter much of the time because you're using Raiden's burst, though it can if you do something like use Raiden's burst and the first hit wipes out the enemies, leaving you with nothing to melee for the rest of it. But I'd do something like run Instructor's or Fav(s) if that was an issue.
From my understanding this is actually a pretty good team, mostly for the reasons you mentioned. Jamie, a well recpected tc, put out a community post about it’s potential, and genshin noir did some calcs on it in a recent vid.
She is definitely one of the most fun 4 stars especially with c4 and as sub dps. quickscoping > meta.

she can still be useful outside of pyro + electro teams as she buffs atk, has cc on her burst (yes, she does), generates particles more convenient than bennet (more per E), heals and buffs atk.

The atk buff only applies to pyro and electro, her heals are never the reason you bring her, her ulti cc is about the same as bennet's and his particle generation is far more consistent, especially in national teams where you have time to funnel XL so can run lower ER and more damage.
@@Sam-up4ul something of this is just wrong, check pks before you say. She has cc, the bombs push mobs towards the center, no matter where it's positioned. I don't say you bring her for healing, but that's on of her many bonuses for the team. Atk buff has it's benefits as it's teamwide and applies to every character, even not on-field, it also doesn't involve circle impact. For energy generation, it's worse if you can constantly swap to bennet, but far better when you can't, which is the case with many hypercarry teams, she gives many frontloaded particles. If we're talking about constellation 6 it's another story, just 60 unconditional dmg bonus to all electro and pyro. I don't say she's better than bennet, but she's surprisingly competitive with him.
@@-miromax-5349the atk bonus is not to all, only to pyro and electro. C6 is not unconditional, it gives 1 stack when chevy heals the character, meaning you'll have at most 1 stack on sub-dps on 1st rotation, and 2 from 2nd rotation onward; only the onfielder gets the full 60%.

I found Chev, Fischl, Dehya and Bennett to work perfectly fine.
Been playing her at C6 with Raiden Fischl Xiangling, and in a Yoimiya team as well. Raiden is a fantastic team, works well, overload knocking enemies around doesn't matter as much because without Bennett you're not playing circle impact. My Xiangling is only C3 so I don't have the full pyronado, but the team feels absolutely cracked. Yoimiya didn't work so well, you need something else defensive on top of Chev, and if you want to run two electro units instead of 3 pyro, you basically only have Beidou. I have a C2 Dehya that I could use too, but Beidou's ER requirements as the only electro unit is very cringe.
Pretty uncommon and don't recommend, but I'm using her with a DPS Beidou and a C6 Bennet, so Beidou applies both Electro and Pyro every attack which is pretty cool (then either fish/sara)
If she didnt have the team element restriction, people would start doing overvape teams, like HuTao Yelan Fischl Chevy, which is a great option and wouldn't even be better than double hydro options
Also she could replace Bennett on Raiden national, making overvape work again but wouldn't have a buff like Bennett provides.
If she didn't have restrictions she could be better than Bennett in some situations
You can still do overvape, the Anemo unit will be shredding resist and all you lose from Chev's passive is the resist shred if you have non electro/pyro...so it's really not bad at all. She heals, so you can use any anemo that you'd like with her.

@@marcusaurelius4777 but her main point was not relying on having to be on field for the passive to work, unlike VV, so if you're planning on using an anemo teammate then overvape doesn't work since you need Offield pyro and Chevy can't do that
She probably wouldn't have the same C6, and likely a worse res shred because Hoyo would not want us stacking dmg bonuses with low price nor want us stack up resistance shreds to an insane degree, even if resistance reductions get halved below zero. So the restriction basically enables this level of utility and strength in Chevreuse's kit. A theoretical cryo kazuha that only buffs cryo damage bonus and melt dmg bonus would buff to a higher degree than the Kazuha we are familiar with.
The less flexible they are, the stronger they are in the few teams they can be in. The more flexible and universal a character is, the less power their utility or damage holds, but there are exceptions.
It's fair for Chevreuse to have team restrictions. That's what warranted Hoyo to ramp up the feasibility of her kit, C0 to C6 with high utility and low effort to do so.
geo would be a better element if it was actually inert as they say, geo shouldnt be affected by those restrictive passives

So not sure if this a popular opinion but I use Ei, Chevreuse, Bennett and Lyney as a sniper team. 1. Raiden, 2. Lyney charge then back up. 3. Chevreuse, 4. Lyney charge shots. If they get close or try to mob, burst away.
I'll just say that my Chevreuse that I just got, with level 20/40 and no artifacts whatsoever, WORKS pretty well as a Xingqiu replacement for Rational team. Just ascend her once and she's good to go here. Heck she doesn't even need to be on field when I tried this🤣

Is she OK with Raiden + Sara + Xiangling? I have a Raiden C3R1 and pretty much only play her with National, but I wanna do a Hyper Raiden Team and realese Bennet for other teams. I thought to build my Sara C6 and my Chevrouse for that, and use noblesse in Chevrouse. This way I can free my Noblesse Bennett to other things... any thoughts?

I would say, for those who have her C6, her A1 passive becomes somewhat irrelevant on certain teams that aren't Overload only. Teams like OverVape could potentially be better with Chevreuse than with Bennett, and the same goes for Aggravate+Overload (I dubbed it *Salsa*).
In Salsa, the Spiel should be that you gain Overloads alongside your Aggeavates, but with Chevreuse that won't be the case after the initial setup, which may sound like wasting your Pyro slot until you get the 60% Electro DMG bonus and 40% ATK.

I think they're only gonna get more restrictive in the Chevy/Nilou style as the game goes on. With so many characters its gonna get increasingly hard for Hoyo to make strong but not accidentally completely broken OP team combos unless they forcibly restrict the team possibilities into their own little niches like this.
While her kit is a bit restrictive, it also means that she get more valuable with every pyro or electro character release... like Arlechino and Clorinde which are probably not too far down the road. Also, I think at this point, hoyo has to get more niche with their new characters unless they release new elements or reactions. I'm personally enjoying seeing these kits that revolve around very specific playstyles. At this point, most players have a few great teams that do everything they NEED already.
