Iga is already a top 10 player of all time by the time she turns 23 years old. I don't think most people understand that we are witnessing a generational talent that only comes along once a decade. She's basically already clinched a 3rd straight year end number 1 ranking.

Iga showed why she's the World No. 1... the difference between her and Coco at World No. 3 was palpable and it didn't seem close at all, with Iga's movement on this surface and precision in side to side shot making! 🙂
Not really though. If you watch the match, they were pair at 4-4 Coco was 40-0 to be 5-4, couple of errors and cost her the set, the second one was Coco playing a bit down caused she knew she had it. At the end Iga did her job and took her chances, played better and won fairly. Iga fan here

Chris Evert was the best player of the 70s, Martina Navratilova was the best of the 80s, Steffi Graf was the best of the 90s, Serena was the best of the 2000s and 2010s. Iga is on track to become the best of the 2020s if she continues this trajectory. I really wanted Gauff to win, but Iga is just solid especially on clay.

I've been watching RG on discovery+ and there's Chris Evert commenting. She always praises Coco beyond reason. Today, in a match against Ons Jabeur, she was telling how composed Gauff is, how calm and unbothered at all while every close-up showed Gauff on the verge of crying. She always puts her in the same league with Iga, as her closest rival. How delusional!

If 2019's men's big 4 was Novak, Rafa, Fed, Murray, then 2024 women's big 4 is Iga, Saba, Ryba, Coco. All have parallels and similar ceilings. Although ofc it's far too early to call any of the women 20+ GS winners, Iga's already on 4 and looks the overwhelming fav to earn #5 this month...and she is just 22. Certainly, the much-more ballyhooed Alcaraz and Sinner have been anointed the next Rafa and the next Novak on just 2 and 1 Slam, respectively. Iga is much more likely to match/pass Serena than any of the men are to reach Big 3-level success.
Murray is not in that conversation, neither is Gauff. She is a pusher who can move, that's all

She is the reigning USO champion, and she is just 20. Like her or not, she's clearly one of the 4 best women in the game, and I don't see anyone threatening her top-4 spot.

This is bittersweet as I like both players. It's great to see two young players on the WTA tour, blooming and bringing what seems to be consistency among the top players, which we all know has been lacking on the WTA. While I root for both, I can't help but keep rooting for Iga as she's really been so consistent and completely solid, especially as of lately. I would love to see a woman be dominant as Serena had been, but now with the newer generation as well. The great thing is, there does seem to be a shape up of not just a "Big 3", but just like a Top 10-20 players on the women's tour and we've seen some really high level, quality matches from some of them this clay season.
Coco without her home crowd is useless. She has no chance against a champion like Iga. Lecturing and arguing with the umpire in her condescending manner doesn't help her one bit!

Iga was glorious today Coco looked like an amateur. Probably he dumb coach filling her head with grandiose ideas.
Iga is like a Boxer. Jab, jab to the forehand and bam an uppercut out of reach to the backhand. When i watch her play, i can sense her constsnt adjustment and strategy. Just brilliant to watch.
As good as Gauff is she hasn't got the game to trouble Swiatek trying to out hit her from the baseline is never going to work, more variety is needed. Head to head Swiatek leads 10-1 and those 10 wins were all straight sets with some bagels.
Iga and Aryna are both in amazing form! Coco and Danielle didn't play badly. And great tournament from two slight favorites at Roland Garros! ❤
These two have met eleven times now and Iga has won ten of them in straight sets. Gauff won their eighth meeting in three sets. That's 23 sets of tennis they've played and Gauff won only two of them. There is a huge chasm between them in class.Also, don't forget that Iga is only a couple of years older.

Coco just doesn't stick her backhand volleys enough to come in against Iga. Those volleys are just sitting up and allowing Iga to hit whatever she wants.
She needs to learn that on clay a short volley is often the better choice if you're a tall player. Take a look at Jarry!

As I read and see all the negative comments, criticism, and words that don’t necessarily show any kind of encouragement and see you still showing up to play a very difficult sport that you love so much, I’m just so very proud of you. Iga does, but she does not care and rightfully so. That is Gauff's normal reaction when losing. She has replaced the tears with arguing with the chair umpire and complaining about the opponent. Besides, she is Super Jealous of Iga's success.

Putintseva tried similar tactics at Indian Wells I remember but iga ignored her ,didn't complain ,carried on and won the match, you have to admire her focus ,there's no drama with iga,she deserves all the praise she gets. She's all quality !
