Its easy. LoL, cube is modified to stop at specific pattern, or places. The kid just rumbling the cube and if the cube reach what is supposed to be just like in the bigger block it will stop and you cant move it anymore. Sorryvforbmy bad english hopes you understand.

My favorite part of this show is how he bullshits his way through the tricks. Its crazy how he can just improv really plausible explanations that leave people bewildered. I love the puzzled looks on people faces when they're seeing something occur but they know they shouldn't be believing it.

it used carbonaro effect or should I say drama effect- scripted actors/actresses pretend that they are pranked. well act! 👏 I had an audition once with my agency for this show and they rejected me because of my acting.

That seems unlikely. This stuff could easily be done with slight of hand and people would naturally have funny reactions. If he hired actors to play the part of the people being pranked, he'd risk ruining his entire career if just one of them talked about their experience for fame. Even you have already "spilled the beans." Hiring people to fake reactions would be so stupid considering he could get the same reactions by just doing these simple tricks.
Besides, many of his pranks use actors besides Michael Carbonaro actors to trick people, what makes you think you weren't being hired as the prankee and not as an assistant?
I hope this mother from time to time remembers that feeling when she thought her daughter is a genius and she gives her a little boost on self-esteem as if she was that genius. Could work wonders for both of them, their lives and relationship.
I seek that boost everyday. But since not a lot of people recognize I need it, I just give it to them instead.

This trick can be done without having met either the mother or daughter previously.
I would have just solved the cube, put it down, and got all the questions wrong.
Good luck with trying to solve a cube that was glued into position. But even if you got all the questions wrong, they just wouldn't have shown it.
BooBaddyBig how was it glued? Watch right before he hands it to her, 00:27 it was almost matched and he twisted and turned it before he handed it to her... So did he sneak and place super glue on it real quick? Sleight of hand I suppose.
Probably a trick cube...no matter how many moves, every side will be the same.
The girl was trying to move it in her hands and couldn't after he initially mixed it up. Look back at the video, you don't see her move it from the positions he placed them in once after it is handed to her. He solved it to exactly match the model cube lmao it's a trick cube.
simple: its a sleight of hand trick, 2 cubes(3 counting the large one), the display that he rotates to show it can in fact be rotated, then the second cube with the solved sides fixed in place then gets swapped in place of the real one. The same can be done with the flash cards and a bit of paper hidden in the palm of his hand or between the card and a false backing of said card.

Ya, you can see her fiddling around a bit but nowhere there's an actual turn of the cube to see. However, he could also simply have sleight-of-hand-switched it with another, so it doesn't have to be glued at all.

Kids make the best confederates, because "playing make-believe" comes naturally to them. The hard part is for them to keep their faces straight, which this little girl was clearly struggling with. :-)
She was actually right when she said Nuh uh. If you look, the right most facing side isn't the same by 3 different colored squares.
Since the girl obviously didn't memorize her Rubik's Cube, he had to have switched it when he took it back to one that was pre-aligned to look like the big one. There's nothing "fake" here, just simple misdirection. Love this guy lol
I'd have come to this conclusion sooner if I hadn't been in such denial that this was real and un-rehearsed. Now that I think I see what he's doing, I do believe this could be done with no prior setup.
Well either way we both just "think" about how this is done. Ultimately it doesn't really fucking matter.

Alex Cambron When he showed the girl the cards, notice it was away from the camera, and also the little girl was trying not to laugh and smile the whole time. Well when SHE saw the card, he revealed something the hard the number one it, then quickly hid it. Then the cube, it was just slight of hand, OR the cube only moved a couple of times and would lock up. Not to hard really.
I think that's exactly it. The girl saw something different than the mother and we did which was why he had to ditch it so fast. And I go for the cube switch theory for the finisher :-).
Sorry to sound like a curmudgeon, but I agree with the people that said this is kind of cruel and unfair to the little girl. Never lie to children to make them feel special and then yank it away....

Though, despite it being a show, what he said about children is true. Not that all of them are geniuses, but their thought process is much more original than an adult's. And then, at school, we teach them how to think by forcing them to do things one way and one way only and not use their brain to think.

This is what's driving me crazy: the value of x on that equation *IS* 12. I could understand if she had just guessed any number and then he had a trick to creating an answer card with that number on it while relying on the mother not being able to do the equation in her head to confirm/deny the result, but not this. Maybe he instead showed the girl a really easy card like "6 + 6 = ?"
It is. A solution to that equation is 12. I sure love continuity.

The Rubix cube is rigged! It's glued in place. If you notice, the little girl is having trouble turning the sides and every time the camera shows her with the cude, she's never turning any of the sides.

According to many people on this string, 12 is not the right answer.
Yes, 12 is the right answer, BUT, if you watch the video carefully, you see they inserted a clip when he is showing the math problem to them. The card is probably not the one that was originally showed to them, but one that corresponds the the answer 12. I have a granddaughter the same age as this little girl and she got called up on stage at a holiday show last week and we have a video of it. The guy was a sort of magician and made balloon animals...that kind of thing for the kids. He ask her to name any animal and he'd make it for her. He was probably expecting her to say "dog" or "cat", You should see his reaction when she said, "spider monkey". The entire place went crazy.
