Today’s video is a bit different to my usual ones! Welcome to 2024! New Year is a time for reflection and an exciting time to plan for the future. Today I’ll be answering some questions about the future of the channel and plans for 2024 and we will reflect on 2023 which has been an incredible year!
Grab a cup or tea or coffee and I hope you’ll find this interesting and relaxing! Let me know what you think of the plans for 2024. Will you tune in to Supernatural Sundays? What sort of ASMR do you like? Would you like me to read some spooky tales?
The Q and A today is really about the channel itself but I do know that lots of viewers want to ask bigger questions, notably do I believe in ghosts and have I ever seen one! Those are the two questions I get asked the most and I will answer those for sure in the future; don’t worry!
Then I will share with you my top 5 favourite stories from the channel in 2023. These are just stories that I really like. I’d love to know which videos and stories are your favourite! supernatural sundays sounds good to me. I love all your videos. Your voice is perfect. I am so glad you did decide to do it. I'm sure it too k courage. But I would say to any prospective YTer - just be yourself. Enough of the click bait thumbnails and over hyperbolic captions, annoying music and so on. My favourites so far.....well, I'm a Londoner, so the London ones are very evocative for me. But Wales, Ireland, Scotland and the North of England also hold pieces of my heart. In fact, all of it I love these islands. I love their ghosts. You do this particularly well. All power to you.

@@ghostcasebook1266 i think the second channel should have a different approach, just widen the stories told but with the same great quality...it could be about a very recent uncanny event, or from 1971, or in 1901, have more...like a big mosaic , but very similar in nature ( the spirit world ).

The uncanny is everywhere, i just screened a documentary on long forgotten British moviemakers, and the segment about director Basil Dearden and everything around his passing was very uncanny, also that of his wife, a 1950's actress. Just an example of stories you never heard of before.

What I enjoy most are the stories behind the ghosts. Learning about the people and situations gives greater depth. The depth makes a better video about ghosts at a particular place with only a few facts. Keep up the great work in 2024

Well, I can’t reveal too much but I have been in touch with some for the Supernatural Sunday that’s coming next week. I don’t know any personally. Yes the A I voice wouldn’t cope with welsh place names either and the cost was a bit mad! I appreciate this 👻🙋♀️

I love your videos. Please keep the same format. Other ghost channels have creepy background music. The creepy music doesn’t help. Keep focusing on the ghosts and not the theatrical effects.

There won’t be any jumpy bangs, crashes, or sound effects at all, don’t worry. Happy new year! I'm so glad that you didn't follow any of those YT tutorial videos when you were starting out. Nothing turns me off more than thumbnails with arrows and circles and flashy titles. I'm also thankful that you don't use "overly spooky" music in your videos either. You have a calming voice (that would be great for ASMR or audiobooks), you present the stories in an informative yet calm way, your thumbnails are matter-of-fact and I really like the font you use. I also find the tidbits you've been adding at the end (postcards, etc.) to be fascinating. Hands down, you are my favorite paranormal channel and I am so glad that I found you!
Suzanne, my friend, thank you so much. I remember thinking ‘I’m never going to get this off the ground’ and they kept saying ‘your thumbnails need to create excitement and curiosity’ and I just thought, frankly, piffle! How will people know what my videos are about if I don’t (at least) give them a recognisable title? I know these obscure thumbnails might work for some channels but I just felt it was not right. Thank you for the comment about the music too. I didn’t set out to create a ‘jumpy’ channel and I live that so many viewers relax and unwind to the videos, to be honest! 👻🙋♀️👍

Here in the States, we can leave an open box of baking soda in the fridge to eliminate smells. (I think in the U.K. it's referred to as bicarb soda.)

Wales is so cool and mysterious. There is a wonderful author whose books I love: Sharon Kay Penman. One of her books is about Llewelyn and his wife Joanna, an illegitimate daughter of King John of notorious fame. That book opened my eyes to a lot about Wales. It is also an historically based love story❤😊

I thought Lot 249 was very good. Mark Gatiss really has the Ghost Story for Christmas series down to a tee and I thank him for that, so enjoyable like the past ones, A Warning to the Curious is particularly good. Thank you for your content, it is done in a very enjoyable way and I particularly like the Liverpool episodes amongst all the others. Look forward to your next ones. So good to know that you're still producing these videos. You have a good, clear voice and am glad you didn't have an AI voice reproduce your narrative. Your stories are never salacious or alarming. I love listening to them while editing my photos or working on my finances etc, sitting down and able to focus. The story of Sid James's ghost is hugely interesting. Makes us want to know more.

10:50 You should *NEVER* be afraid to use your own voice in your videos! Far too many videos I've watched have had those "AI" voices and sound false and robotic. They deserve condemnation for what they did. I use my own voice for my narration and I even do piece-to-camera sequences. Whether you actually want to appear in your videos is up to you, but *PLEASE* keep using your own voice!

Wow, thank you! Laura you are very kind. ASMR is a sort of relaxation that causes tingles (it sounds dodgy, but it isn’t) and promotes a relaxing sensation. Some people feel very relaxed when watching ASMR videos and they are increasingly popular on YT. RE ASMR: I just like the timbre and cadence of your voice and your general vibe. You could read Dylan Thomas or something less esoteric like James Joyce.🙃Any author of your choosing will do. Or it could be a shopping list. Whispering ASMR is like nails on a chalk board to me, but if there's a demand for it I'll just skip that one.

You have a very calming and relaxing voice and that’s one of the things I love about your channel. I discovered your channel because I love hearing spooky stories but I don’t like ones that are close to where I live because then I freak out. But as an American, it feels safe for me to hear stories about places that are far from my home. Also, the majority of my ancestors were from Ireland and the UK, so I love seeing the photos of these places, and though I would love to visit them one day, it doesn’t look like that will be any time soon. I'm a total sceptic, but I love your channel. I'm impressed with the level of research that you do and your calming delivery is a joy (can't believe you nearly used an AI voice!) I listen to your channel while I'm drawing and it's so soothing and atmospheric. I love tales of history (especially if they're creepy.) Your readings sound so professional (you should get yourself an agent for voice work... talking books and the like.)

I love Wales! The people are friendly and welcoming, and the scenery is beautiful. My ship was in Cardiff in 1978 (USS Harlan County LST-1196), and we were the first American warship to visit there since the D-Day operation in 1944. I had some wonderful conversations with some of the locals, and met a few gorgeous Welsh girls too!
Goodness me that is amazing! Wow you were there on a warship! That’s really interesting. I don’t suppose you remember which dock you were in at Cardiff. There were several and I think some are filled in now and only 2 or 3 are actively able to accommodate ships. What amazing memories for you (and probably the welsh girls too 😁) 🙋♀️👻

I love your channel because it puts ghost stories in their historic context which is a real passion of mine.
Whether as social media posts or a video I'd love you to talk about your favourite ghost books; I was given quite a dry one on Welsh ghosts at Christmas....
Some that I've loved are the Town Below Ground by Jan Andrew Henderson, Voices in my Ear by Doris Stokes, Dangerous Ghosts by Elliot O'Donnell.... I could go on...

I really enjoy what you have done: straightforward videos about the histories and hauntings of an area. One of my (almost) guilty pleasures is the combining of the two as far as the UK goes. I have always loved England and am sure I have had at least several past lives there, although I have only had the pleasure of visiting once. I hope you will continue to do videos as you have. I am not particularly interested in ASMR. But please do what you feel led to.

I really appreciate this video for several reasons!
From the fact that you were so sweet to take the time to do this one and answer some questions, to your genuine interest in hearing from your viewers.
Also, I have been binge watching and loving all of your content, with a special affinity for the postcard bits. 🥰 I love history, the paranormal anyway, and the glimpse into the lives of the senders and receivers is just such a treat!
I want to thank you too, for your advice for someone starting their own channel. I actually did start a channel a couple of months ago.
I just felt like it was an important step as part of a healing process I needed to take. As well as a way to bring awareness to things that are often hard to talk about for many and to encourage others who may be going through something themselves to find a constructive way to get things out and always make time for themselves each day as well...
I truly felt it when you said you get nervous and that you thought at first about not using your own voice, I always felt that way anytime I tried to talk to anyone I didn't really know. And I had a hard time with the way I look as well... but the odd thing for me, and I guess you could say, how I knew I was supposed to start doing videos was that when the thought came to me, even though I'd be lying if I said I don't feel some level of nervousness... everything that had always stopped me from doing anything in any form before, just melted away, and I was able to do it. And, maybe even more importantly, I think, to actually post it. 😂
It's all just a small piece of my journey, and I know I still have a long way to go. I don't really think anything will come from it aside from the personal side of it for myself and hopefully to help at least a few people along the way... but I am fine with that. 😊
Please understand that I don't mention any of this to self promote, not at all! But to say that hearing your thoughts and advice on "going for it" really was yet another conformation for me that I am doing exactly what I am supposed to be right now, and I just wanted to address that and say thank you very much!!!

But, let’s not forget how much research and hard work you put it to each and every video. This quality shines brightly from your work. Oh wow I did make it to the end Neil and thank you ever so much! The support you’ve given me has been tremendous and I appreciate it so much. I do think the channel has evolved and you are right that I am very enthusiastic for sure. I will start researching and end up with maybe 10 or so stories and have to filter them down to maybe 4 or 5 and it is so difficult. But, it does mean there are lots of stories ready for future adventures. I think the videos and my voice has changed in terms of producing and thank you for agreeing with me that it’s a case of evolution (and confidence) I suppose. Supernatural Sundays are on their way and ASMR is a relaxation type of videos where people usually listen with EarPods or headphones and they are very calming.
