Great video. I live on the Peninsula and love finding sea glass.

Thanks for this. I've been recently trying my hand at drilling holes in sea glass. I am experiencing the tool slipping off the glass. Sometimes causing scratches so I've been researching drill presses. I use a mastercraft rotary tool and I am wondering if it will work with this? And also, how many holes do you get with each bit?

I have found that the hand held rotary drill like you have really needs to be mounted in a drill press to control the drill bit. When it comes in contact with a glass surface that is rounded it will slip off if you push too hard in the beginning. I always run the tool at a very low rpm level and only push slightly. I even bounce the bit slightly to allow it to begin to bite ever so slightly into the glass. Once a small indention is made into the glass then I will begin to push more forcefully. The bit will be held in place once the small indention is made and will allow the bit to continue digging down in a straight line. I have also found that if I keep the drill speed at a lower rpm then I will be able to make more holes. This makes the drill bit last longer of up to 30-40 holes.

Hi there I collect small vintage glass animals they could be one or two inches and I have them in Shadow Boxes but I was just thinking wouldn't it be great if I could wear them? I'm wondering what you think about drilling holes in this fragile kind of glass?

If you are very careful and go slow you could definitely drill the small glass animals. I use a Dremel with a 1mm drill bit that is diamond tipped. This allows for a clean and slow drilling process. You can find the drill bits on Amazon. I also mount my Dremel into a Dremel drill press that holds the Dremel in place and helps me control the drilling process.

I have always enjoyed working with the Dremel roto tool. You can find many types on amazon.com for various prices. www.amazon.com/Dremel-3000-2-28-Attachments-Accessories/dp/B005JRJE7Y/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?crid=2U5X4UNDXNBZ7&dchild=1&keywords=dremel+tool&qid=1602607972&sprefix=Dremel%2Caps%2C218&sr=8-2-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUExMzBIN1ZJQkFTSVlMJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwNDE1ODQ4M1RCMlRQREkxRkNEQiZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwNzg3MDg2MURGWTVYSjNWTllZVSZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=
I also have ordered diamond drill bits from amazon for a very low price. I have always used the drilax bits.

I also mount my Dremel drill into a Dremel drill press. This holds the drill in a perfectly vertical position so my hand focuses on holding the sea glass pieces firmly and not worrying about keeping the drill vertical.

Why don't you make a resin case around the stone in a wooden piece it will keep your hand safe.
