I so get Gary’s bartering concept. Back in the day that sense of community working hand in hand was pretty common place. For instance I rapidly have found myself immobile due to severe arthritis. I’m starting the knee replacement process in October. In the meantime, my grass still needs mowing and weed whacking done. Neither of I can do until I am healed from surgery. However, I’m a very good seamstress and can mend just about any textile item. I also knit and crochet. I would be more than happy to hem, mend anything needed so long as I get my yard work done too! I’m in New York so just about everything is taxed, avoiding taxes is a bonus for sure!
There is a little stand near me that a young girl has, it is a free will donation for veggies. She has a little story about helping her Papa in the garden and that any monies collected for veggies goes in her bank account for her future.
Not only the milk, but the cream from fresh milk is amazing. If you let Mazy make some jar butter from fresh cream, or fresh whipped cream to top a hot slice of pie, she will become a fan.
I am 81 yrs old and watch you all the time. I Love the Walker family! It takes me back to when I was a kid on the farm in North Dakota! You are so down to earth & love how you include your kids in things you do around the farm. Cassie you are a hoot on some of the things you say & make me laugh! God Bless your family! HUGS to you all!!❤
I agree these people are just the sweetest. They take me back to my grandparents' farm boy. I miss those days ,but they honestly bring it all back, wonderful people they are, God bless you
My uncle used to have milk cows and sell it to the people that bottled it and sell it in the stores. So he had to meet certain standards. He had to wash the udders and milk then then take the milk to the parlor and put it into big milk cans and keep it all cold till he could get it out for the man to take it to town. My aunt would take a gallon or two and skim the cream off the top and make butter. It was the best. The biggest problem was making sure that everything was clean so that the milk didn’t get contaminated…. As it wasn’t pasteurized and could really make people sick if the chain of sanitation was broken at any point.
I basically quit drinking milk when we moved off the farm. I liked it cold or straight from the cow warm. We had a mixed breed herd. Raised our own beef and hog for meat and of course chickens for eggs or to eat!
Morning Walker's, wish I lived closer would be awesome to meet you guys. Going for a scan tomorrow about my lungs please pray they're healing and no other issues. Angel's around you as you go through your day. ♥️🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️
I wanted to say thanks for the prayers for the surgery I had to have on my shoulder. I will be starting physical therapy soon. I will need prayers for that also. 🙏 Thanks so much! I am always looking forward to watching your videos.
You might consider a Mini Jerseys: Produce 1-4 gallons of milk per day High butterfat content (4-6%) Gentle temperament Good for families needing smaller quantities of milk. A full size Jersey will produce an average of about 7 gallons a day. Since you don’t drink much milk, you might consider selling the raw milk. The only thing, which you probably already know, all transactions will have to take place on the farm, you can’t deliver it to the customer.
Cassie is top shelf. She is the real deal as is all the family. I think the milk cow is a great deal. You can even make your own butter, mozzarella, etc, with it. Good for family. Good lessons for upcoming family.
Great seeing you both early this morning. I just want to tell you both that I do admire the work & the energy you put in on your kids, which is how it should be. I think "Little Bear" was blessed getting your family as his foster family. It's sad how some children don't have the love you two have for yours. I hope you both have a great week!
Abundance of special prayers 🙏🏽🙏🏽 for Ava and Stacey. Also prayers for all in need of prayers 🙏🏽🙏🏽 and recognition. We hear you, your not alone, you are loved 🫶🏽💜❕🦋🍎
My mother, Eloise Walker,95 years old, I mentioned recently for prayer died on Saturday, September 7, in her sleep. I was at my house a few blocks away and my younger brother that lives with her thought she was sleeping so no one was in the room with her when she died. Her funeral was yesterday September 10, 2024. I am the daughter LaUnna Walker 68, Brothers Charles 58 and Reece Walker 70 pray for us.
Margieb, I'm so sorry about your daughter. Whats her name? I'll put her in our Adoration Chappel book for prayers from the congregation. God bless you all and many prayers 🙏🏻 Nurse Judi in Scottsdale AZ and Eucharistic Minister 🙏🏻 ❤️ ♥️ ✨️ 💙
What ever you get for a cow, get an A2 A2 genetic cow! The milk is so much more digestable. I like a Jersey for that. Brown Swiss if you want a lot of cream😁
I know you guys have a good time at the Oklahoma State Fair. Everybody that listens to your lecture will be blessed with knowledge❤. Enjoy your blessed day XXXO 💕😁
When I was in my 20s I lived on a farm that had milk cows. I think they were Holstein, but their milk was rich and so good once cold. I miss those days of milking cows and doing farm work. I love your idea of bartering to get things your family needs and providing for others. Please keep my DIL's father, Danny, in your prayers. He found out yesterday that he has lung cancer. Love watching your channel. God bless and love you guys! ❤❤
Hello Walker Fam, You really make me wish I lived closer. I would love to attend the Expo this weekend. Being fron Canada does prove a problem. I like the idea of buying a cow, and sharing the milk, specially if a person was willing to milk the cow. Enjoy your weekend!🤗🤗💞💞💙💙
I know when I give things away I feel better but you can always can extra produce. Love the end product and it keeps a long time. Raw milk is definitely acquired taste 😂. Love the videos especially gardening.
Hey Cassie might have you guests at the fair check their towns regulations on keeping chickens. Even our small towns restrict number of chickens you can have, and of course no roosters.
Mooooo! good idea, make lots of thing in the kitchen with milk, besides the kids could be drinking it. Fresh milk makes great yogurt. You could be doing a rent-A=Cow plan.
Have I told you what a pleasure it is to listen to you and Gary?? Both of you are such a delight. You are both my own kids age……and I’m as old as someone’s pet dinosaur. Thank you for sharing this video! I truly enjoyed it.(and I’m sorry I fell asleep earlier……it’s not you, it was me.)
I loved growing veggies with hydroponics, I grew heaps years ago. I stopped because I felt a bit weird going and buying the nutrients from our local Hydroponics store. I think I was the only person buying them for legit veggies. Most were buying them to grow their illegal crops. lol 🤣🤣
Sending Positive thoughts and Prayers for Ava that she will be in total remission from the leukemia 🙏🙏🙏🩷🩷🩷 Love your channel and your family, Cassie and Gary 🙏❤️‼️ Hope you all have fun at the fair and good luck with the cow sharing 😊👏🏻🤞🍁🎃🍂🌻😎
Hi Gary and Cassie, I don't like fresh cows milk myself but I can't drink milk period LOL Keeping little Ava in my prayers Love y'all God bless and until next time take care now.
So you guys are buying the cow and getting half the milk for free! Family friends had a dairy farm. His father used to drink the raw milk right out of the cow. Not sure I could do that.
We will have our first grand daughter within the next few hours I'm so excited Thanks again for another awesome video I really enjoyed it and as always I'm really looking forward to seeing the next video
I miss fresh cow milk with the cream on top. Yum. ❤ The cow on their property ✅ Your friend milks the cow✅ You buy the cow. ✅ You get the best milk ever✅ Seems like a great barter. ❤
I am all about the barter system.I always barter when the opportunity arises. often, with livestock with the eggs and things like that it works. Also there is almost nothing better than fresh milk. Goat is a healthier option but either is amazing!!❤
Sounds like a hassle- and a lot of money. Think it through. How will 'you' get the milk? Certain time every day that you have to meet at the fence? That's a big commitment, but maybe no big deal to you. Hope it all works out for y'all. 💛🐄
Leukemia , just going through that with my granddaughter. Not a fun trip at all. 38 days in ICU, but GOD delivered ! Prayers for that little girl and anyone else that needs prayer.
I really miss helping Mama make our churned butter. We had a milk cow named Daisy. We raised our pigs & chickens. I wish I lived closer to go to the Expo. Blessings, Love & Hugs 🙏🙏🌹 Love 🌻 from Apex NC 💜
Also, I suggest a Dexter Mini cow. They require less acreage, produce about 1.5 gallons a day, and they are tolerant of our heat but also have a nice winter coat. Bonus: they are excellent for meat as well, and can even be trained to draft.
We don't have any stores that sell fresh local produce or meat. We do have sources for fresh local produce and eggs at various farm stands or backyard garden stands.
The milk cow is a great idea. But don’t keep her at your house or you will end up milking her every time. For sure in the winter. I tried that once. If you pay for the cow it would be up to them to milk and supply the food for her. Fair deal.💕
Dexter's are a dual purpose and are supposed to have high milk fat content, ideal for butter, milk and cream. Just think the kids could cure their own butter 😊
Past coffee time... What?? Lol. We have had a milk cow for several years now & your proposition would be worth it in my opinion. I think it is great to have a milk cow, but it is a lot of work. Farm Fun! Something you might discuss is the calf. Also, I will add we have a jersey.
Make sure it is a jersey and halter trained! Love jersey milk, butter, cream, cheese, ect! YUM I miss having a cow. Jerseys are the snallest full size breed of cow and usually more gentle than some of the others and don't give 11 gallons a day like some larger cows.
InCity of Milwaukee they have Way specific rules before you can get a permit an "permission" from neighbors as not to object. Specs for size and position of coop. Allow for up to FOUR hens and ZERO roosters. I live in a rather larger apartment complex for seniors. Don't think management would be for any of it. 😛🤣
When I was a kid and we went to visit my grandfathers sisters, we usually had a meal with them. They had a neighbor who milked their own cows and got eggs from their own chickens. My aunts got milk and eggs from them. I remember drinking that raw milk and didnt like it but, it was from a bottle they had just gotten from the neighbor and the milk was warm.
Praying for the little girl with leukemia. Prays for a full recovery. Prayers to all who need a prayer weather for finance, health, job or family. Thanks to you all for the prayers to myself and my family for the loss of my daughter. It’s a struggle every day but I feel every prayer. Bless you all.
I buy eggs from my next door neighbor I get unwashed eggs so if I don't have room in my refrigerator for washed eggs she sells them for $3 a dozen they are medium size to large but her hens are young. She also has ducks and 2 turkeys for their holiday meals. They have 2 children that she home schools and are very good christians.
Just a thought, A long time ago when my mother bought a new product (marjarine, freshmilk, etc) she would slowly mix it with the current product (store milk with fresh milk, butter and marjarine) slowly increasing the mixture until we couldn't tell the difference.
When visiting friends in North Carolina the milk from their cow the next morning was fantastic. Debbie and I both tried to be first up so we'd get that bit of cream floating on the top for our coffee.
Oh my……this is the second time attempting to watch this, I fell asleep though the first time……I was cold, so I was bundled up and sooooo nice and warm, and I don’t even remember listening to you, Gary and Cassie, talk through your opening statements………..YOU ARE NOT BORING, HONEST!! I was just cold and sleepy…..(I think the time was 8 something)…it’s 10 now.(Medford Oregon). SORRY…..
Sadly, I'll not be able to make it to OK, for that Expo. Prior commitments, and work, get in the way. (Denver Mineral, Fossil, Gem & Jewelry Show) As I grew up on a farm and a ranch, raising cattle, meat and dairy goats, meat rabbits, geese and chickens. Cut our own wood, for heat, I think I'm at least a step or two into doing the homestead life. However, I'm currently happy with where and how I'm living. Quarter cow, and half a pig a year, from local (Within 100 miles) places. Fresh goat milk when wanted. (Not a real fan of cow milk, as I grew up on goat milk). Prayers for the girl! Cancer is a b with an itch. Had my struggles with it, and survived. I will always pray for those that are diagnosed with it,

I grew up on ‘raw’ milk, churned butter, buttermilk. I’m 73 and certainly not skinny 😂 Y’all have a blessed day
Cog Hill just had money stolen from their roadside stand. How sad a world we live in. 😢

You can freeze dry the milk like Cog Hill farm does. Can't remember if you have a freeze dryer. Might be a good idea to get one if you don't.
You can make butter and cheese. The kids will like to make butter and cheese. They will love to learn.prayers for Ava.❤❤❤❤❤❤
Hello Cassie & Gary,. Prayers for all who need. God Bless everyone.
Prayers for Ava for complete healing ❤️🩹
Expo sounds like fun and so many will benefit from Cassies knowledge! Interesting...moo milk venture. Prayers for Ava & Stacey. 🙏❤😊
Homestead with the Zimmermans is very good for learning sourdough baking, fermenting, and so much more Cassie.
I know when I give things away I feel better but you can always can extra produce. Love the end product and it keeps a long time. Raw milk is definitely acquired taste 😂. Love the videos especially gardening.
It will be an experience getting a dairy cow. I am glad your neighbors are researching the breeds. 💖💖💖
Hey Cassie might have you guests at the fair check their towns regulations on keeping chickens. Even our small towns restrict number of chickens you can have, and of course no roosters.
Yes, it will be different for each person

There are 6 or 7 children right now in my area that are dealing with leukemia. So, so hard for small children to deal with. Asking prayer for them.
Thank you Gary and Cassie for sharing everything.God bless you and your family.Have a wonderful and blessed church service tonight.God bless you.
Cassie, think butter. Homemade butter is wonderful. Also you can make cheese
I have a friend who had a Jersey Cow and they had fresh milk and it was DELICIOUS. Tasted like French Vanilla Ice cream
This all sounds very interesting, you guys have got it all together. Good luck, God bless
Sorry I can’t be there I’m sure it will be very informative. Great video thanks. Chris from England

Many prayers for Little Ava and her Family! I love fresh milk and oh my goodness the cream, just to die for.
I miss fresh cow milk with the cream on top. Yum. ❤ The cow on their property ✅
Your friend milks the cow✅
You buy the cow. ✅
You get the best milk ever✅
Seems like a great barter. ❤
I would add re: cow// add when time to go to to freezer camp- get half of the meat!
I am all about the barter system.I always barter when the opportunity arises. often, with livestock with the eggs and things like that it works. Also there is almost nothing better than fresh milk. Goat is a healthier option but either is amazing!!❤

Have a blessed and beautiful day!😊❤
I really miss helping Mama make our churned butter. We had a milk cow named Daisy. We raised our pigs & chickens.

Not only will you get good milk BUT... You can skim the cream off the top and make butter!! It's really easy...

Gary that sounds awesome. Love you guys
Raw milk produces cream...scoop the cream off and make your own butter!!!
Holstein cows give like a 2% milk
Love you all so much! Continued prayers and God bless ❤
Dexter's are a dual purpose and are supposed to have high milk fat content, ideal for butter, milk and cream. Just think the kids could cure their own butter 😊
Sharing a cow like that would be awesome ❤️🙏🐄
Past coffee time... What?? Lol. We have had a milk cow for several years now & your proposition would be worth it in my opinion. I think it is great to have a milk cow, but it is a lot of work. Farm Fun! Something you might discuss is the calf. Also, I will add we have a jersey.
❤❤❤ I miss having chickens. 🐔
I believe it sounds great, we used to help with feed for the cow for our milk. Worked out great for us
Make sure it is a jersey and halter trained! Love jersey milk, butter, cream, cheese, ect! YUM I miss having a cow. Jerseys are the snallest full size breed of cow and usually more gentle than some of the others and don't give 11 gallons a day like some larger cows.
Dang i live here. But having a surprise 18th bday party for my son that day cause he had a lamb show on Saturday. So Sunday it was! Have fun and enjoy

She also has ducks and 2 turkeys for their holiday meals. They have 2 children that she home schools and are very good christians.

My Grandpa had a dairy farm when I was a kid. Nothing like a cup of fresh cold milk right from the Milk Vat. YUMMY
Just a thought, A long time ago when my mother bought a new product (marjarine, freshmilk, etc) she would slowly mix it with the current product (store milk with fresh milk, butter and marjarine) slowly increasing the mixture until we couldn't tell the difference.
Gary, Cassie has it right.
Listen to her.❤🎉😊
Caring for it is a big physical investment.
Itll be interesting to see how it pans out.❤🎉😊
When visiting friends in North Carolina the milk from their cow the next morning was fantastic. Debbie and I both tried to be first up so we'd get that bit of cream floating on the top for our coffee.
I completely agree with sharing/bartering.
