- We were called to tear down this fire damaged house here in Milwaukee Wisconsin. Once these old houses have extensive fire damage, it is necessary for the property owners to do an assessment of the cost to tear the house down or to repair the house. After realizing that it is cheaper to have us tear down the house than it would be to repair it, many times property owner are faced with the difficult decision to demolish the house to the ground. Once there is fire damage, the City of Milwaukee will begin assessing fees if the property owner does not begin making repairs to the home. So, the homeowners will at some point either need to make repairs or they will need to have us take the home down. A buddy found a huge toy doll house (fully furnished) in an attic space, that he quickly reduced to splinters! 😂

Hey D, please explain, at 3923 N. Vel, why couldn't you use those windows before you demolished the house? They look like pretty good windows.
Great question. In many cases the windows along with other recycles are removed prior to demolition. What you are seeing is the metal that is wrapped around the windows which gives the appearance of a new window. However, the windows underneath that wrapping is old. This house had been professional gutted for all its valuables. The metal is being placed in a separate pile as well.

It takes us an 1.5 hours to get it down on the ground. It takes longer when there are houses on both sides and or there are significant obstructions preventing smooth operations. I could go faster but I don’t want my junior operators seeing me rushing through this type of work because one mistake could be deadly to us and people near by.
why cant they salvage some material out house before demolished it? like widow i'm sure some stuff in the house could be reuse.
