Nice images Espen. Glad it was your gear on the wet mud instead of mine...Joking mate...These days I use an old frying pan with a ball head attached inside it, which reduces the risk of water and sand damage on the gear and provides a steady platform. It's a couple inches higher off the ground but with a long telephoto, it matters little and saves your neck...At least for the old folk like myself. Greg
Thanks Greg! That would be a good setup, I've thought to buy a frisbee to put my bean bag on. I don't mind the mud, but don't like it when my gear gets it!
Again really enjoyed your video and cant wait for the weekend and try birdwatching/photography lying in the mud !!!! no tide movement in Brussels !!!! :-) Thanks for sharing your experience and tips !
I'm a recent subscriber to your channel and reasonably new to NH photography in general. Great videos, packed with info and a wonderful none scary style!
Amazing shots Espen. That just has to be my favourite angle for shooting birds. That has inspired me to go and find a location where I can get down low and produce a video.
Awesome Espen great stuff.. Btw I am going to the mountains for photographing songbirds and Himalayan birds in the middle of this month. Love from India
Those thin cheap neoprene type camping bedrolls for camping (they even come in camo) would do wonders, even cut in half if it was too bulky for ya. Great situation for that 1.4 extender yea?
That was a great video I always keep a few bin liners in my kit bag take up no space, light and work a treat in situation like this plus you can launch them when used, (they are bio degradable ones)
Super video and great images as always, Espen. Felt for you seeing you covered in mud and feeling the cold. Have you ever thought about using a waterproof groundsheet?
Great video, as a Redshank fan, I'd love to do that but like some of your other commentators I'm of an age where getting down is OK but getting back up again is big problem.
i'm from Morroco your videos are beautiful you film your vlog by which appareil me too i have 7D ii with sigma 150-600 spot but h'is not sharp like canon 100-400mm
Awesome shots Espen! Maybe you should use some kind of foam sleeping pad to lay down on, I got one which is foldable, so you can carry it in your backpack.
Awesome video and images - those waders hardly minded you being there at all :) I really need to go out and have another crack at this kind of photography..! PS. Definitely recommend an old foam pad for lying on - you'll get less cold and less muddy!
Thank you very much Geoff! Yeah I can't wait to get out and do that again! I like the idea of being mobile, but a foam pad or something is a good call :)
Very interesting movie Espen. Like your enthusiasm. Fantastic.
Have a wonderful weekend.
Best regards, Knut.
Thank you Knut! Hope you had a good one too :)
Good stuff Espen

Fantastic…. Just love wading birds and photographing them .. I need another visit to north norfolk.. 😍
Thanks Diane, must be so nice down there for waders!

Thanks Julie! I assure you, once that water comes in you'll get up ;)
I enjoyed wonderful videos. The bird is beautiful.
Thank you :)

Thank you Carl! felt lucky when they decided to come directly towards me :)
Again really enjoyed your video and cant wait for the weekend and try birdwatching/photography lying in the mud !!!! no tide movement in Brussels !!!! :-) Thanks for sharing your experience and tips !
Thank you very much Isabelle! Try to see which way they're feeding and lie down and wait. Always a chance to go lie in the mud ;)
Wow 😮 superb images buddy, getting low and keeping still always pays of, superb stuff 😉🤙👌
Thank you very much :)
Wow, my favorite picture is at 3:30min. Really wonderfull! Greetings, Rolf
Thank you very much :)
Awesome Espen great stuff.. nice shots
Thank you Adrian :)
Another great Video
Would you use a sleeping bag roll mat to give you and your kit some protection from the ground.
Cheers Chris! I got myself a cheap roll-out mat for my next session :)
Great video and images. Love the low angle. Worth getting muddy for.
Thank you very much Steve :)

Great videos, packed with info and a wonderful none scary style!
Thank you very much Graham, good to hear :)
I was expecting a roll matt and camo net in the video!! Nice video again!
Thanks! I think I should get a roll matt for next time ;)
Great video and great shots!
Thank you very much Pablo!
Amazing shots Espen. That just has to be my favourite angle for shooting birds. That has inspired me to go and find a location where I can get down low and produce a video.
Thank you very much for that KG! Absolutely the best angle, just a pain in the neck ;)
@@EspenHelland yes pain in the neck and unfortunately neither the 7D II or the 5D IV have flip screen both of which I use.
Went on a trip last week and photographed Osprey, LSP, GSP, PGP, Kentish Plover. Common Red and Greenshanks and an Euradian Curlew. :p
Nice!!
Actually that is the best advice anyone can give. Get down and get dirty. On eye lvl with the target.
Awesome Espen great stuff.. Btw I am going to the mountains for photographing songbirds and Himalayan birds in the middle of this month. Love from India
Hello
Thank you! I'm very jealous of your trip, hope you have a great time and get lots of good images :)
@@EspenHelland Thanks!! you are doing really good hope to see some more bird photography action.
Great footage Espen and I learn something new with your video. Keep it up your good work. Greeting from Singapore.
Thank you very much Cheiko :)
Nice pics ....
Manjunath Naik thank you!

Just got one for my next video :) The 1.4x really helped yeah, but towards the end I could probably have done without it they got so close!
WOW could get any better You inspire me to go out lay in mud and try get photos like that
Awesome! Go get muddy ;)
That was a great video
I always keep a few bin liners in my kit bag take up no space, light and work a treat in situation like this plus you can launch them when used, (they are bio degradable ones)
Thank you! I got myself a cheap foam roll out now, works wonders now that the ground is getting colder as well :)
Great job...really enjoyed this one. Very jealous!
Thank you Paul :)
Super video and great images as always, Espen. Felt for you seeing you covered in mud and feeling the cold. Have you ever thought about using a waterproof groundsheet?
Thank you very much Tony! I just picked up a cheap roll-out mat for next time :)
Great video, as a Redshank fan, I'd love to do that but like some of your other commentators I'm of an age where getting down is OK but getting back up again is big problem.

Thank you very much Ismail :) I used to have the Tamron 150-600, not as sharp either, but when I was zoomed back a bit it was a lot sharper!
@@EspenHelland many thanks for your feedback
Awesome shots Espen! Maybe you should use some kind of foam sleeping pad to lay down on, I got one which is foldable, so you can carry it in your backpack.
Hello
Thanks Benjamin! Yeah, I could have used one here for sure!
Superb Thank you
Great video. Hope the gear recovered ok.
Cheer Tony! It's fine :)
Great vid Espen, which lens were you using that day
Thanks Brian! 100-400mm ii with 1.4x extender

That was a great video Espen. Were you using the 100-400 + extender?
Thank you very much Jeffry! Yes I was :)
@@EspenHelland do you have a canon 600mm Mk11. If yes how do you find it?
