Hope you're still reading the comments. Be nice if you could show me how the gear train of a cable excavator works. Really interested in how they get propelled with the tracks.
@@lowercherty I believe the total production of these was around 20. There were 2 up at Syncrude in Canada (I got to see one of them!) a couple went to Australia. Several went to the states to coal mines, and a few went over to Europe. From what I was told by a person that operated one at Syncrude, is they were horrible machines! Always breaking down, took forever and a mile to turn around, very slow hydraulics etc Hence why they didn't last long. Oh yeah, and they were very expensive, both to buy and to operate ! they sucked fuel and burnt oil like it was free
How many times did it break down making this video? Had these in the '80"s in Alberta and couldn't keep them running. Chains breaking, finals piling up, engines throwing rods it was all over. The CAT 24H/M is only marginally better
I particularly hoped to hear the sound of her working, sadly I couldn't.
There is one in Norway too, in the North. Its on youtube, with sound

@@MatsErikTeigen yep that's the other one I'm referring too.
I think they only made 3 or so. The one demo'ed in Minnesota didn't last very long.

I can't divulge that information at this time, sorry.
