RIP the two members of Morphine Mark Sandman (September 24, 1952 - July 3, 1999), aged 46 Billy Conway (December 18, 1956 - December 19, 2021), aged 65 You both will be remembered as legends.
you are right. i am argentine and here, music like this almost doesnt exist. i feld in love with morphine when i heard "buena" in an episode of the sopranos. and, for be honest, that changed my live, in good ways
So amazing what you can do with a trio. Drums, sax and a bassist singer (who only has 2 strings in their bass!) produce a killer sound. R.I.P Mark Sandman.
don't chop them homie! you could take an eye out if one of those bad boys flings and hits you in the eye. carefully remove the string using the proper method - that's the rock n roll way
Love this track, what a unique sound! First heard this while rewatching The Sopranos, the soundtrack on that series is nothing short of brilliant. Also, undoubtedly, one of the greatest TV series ever made!
@@sourmouse4199 Lmao I'm in the exact same spot right now ... I even paused at the scene to come here and watch the full video. ;D I watch Sopranos all couple years and it's like watching it for the first time ...
@@CharlesYuditsky Why not? Artie is the man ... how he beat up Benny was superhuman like. The fake kung fu moves he made after realizing that he won the fight is the funniest sh*t. PS: But I get what you mean...
I am SOOO glad I got to see them play live! The original booking sold out so fast that they had an encore night (smallish venue in Seattle... the Showbox?) but as most of their instruments were already scheduled to go to the next city, much of their set was very inclusive of a can with dried beans inside. Morphine's improv skills were amazing!
I hear a voice from the back of the room I hear a voice cry out you want something good Well, come on a little closer let me see your face Yeah, come on a little closer by the front of the stage I said come on a little closer I got something to say Yeah, come on a little closer wanna see your face You see I met a devil named Buena, Buena And since I met the devil I ain't been the same, oh no And I feel all right now, I have to tell ya I think it's time for me to finally introduce you to the Buena, Buena, Buena, Buena, good, good, good It's coming to me, yeah, it's coming to me Now I, I think I know what it is you need I know some people wanna make you change Well I, I know how to make'm go away You see I met a devil named Buena, Buena And since I met the devil I ain't been the same, oh no And I feel all right, I have to tell ya I think it's time for me to finally introduce you to the Buena, Buena, Buena, Buena, good, good, good
Wonderful, as always. This sax solo...and the one on Souvenier, maybe some credit could come from playing with Sandman, but damn, Conway was kinda pure genius sometimes.
Soo greatful to have caught them in Phoenix wow .Danced all kight with the sum fun girls from ASU .There was six they keeped coming back with a shite ton of Beer .GOOD TIMES❤
Are you guys sound interesting This may sound a little weird but this is how it goes in my head Right now it's like being reborn on something that's like a game show host with a lot of bands to go with it. This is sort of like the Willy Wonka chocolate factory crap going on with heavy metal so it's going to have Rock and metal I'll let you know I am 55 years old. My dad had Glenn Miller on one of the heat and everything going on as I was growing up inside the womb so this is how I am now my dad turned me on to Frank Zappa. Then my mother turned me on to the 60's and 70's music. After that I went hog-wild. So I can listen to your music. And understand it right off the bat. It's not like what's going on right now. So there is talent out there. You are definitely talent. See my phone has a weird thing going on trying to figure me out. I'm using you guys to build me up so I can put that kind of forest fire out. This is how not to mess with somebody a little smarter than that average Pac-Man game is. I don't play alone. I play with my friends. I tell them That you are doing a fine job to every worker I used to hang out with because I'm on disability. So it's only right to tell them what's up. How's it going I gave you a positive feeling and you gave it back to me and I got a glimmer of the end of the tunnel to get rid of the PTSD in my problem so once again I want to say to you I think you've done a fine job offer me this and I can tell you you did a fine job so thank you peace out
Cure for Pain is a fuckin’ great album! But it sounds way better on CD in my car at high volume going 150kph. Seriously though, the sound coming out my iPad doesn’t do this song justice.

absolute effing legends
Their entire Record "Cure For Pain"
is almost like a secret masterpiece.
It's not as widely popular as a lot of
Albums of it's time period.
I think "good" is just as good if not better but yeah i definitely agree
you are right. i am argentine and here, music like this almost doesnt exist. i feld in love with morphine when i heard "buena" in an episode of the sopranos. and, for be honest, that changed my live, in good ways
Sopranos soundtrack season 1

Я тоже с лонгплея))))

Saw this band twice in their prime. They put on a great show.
I second that, one of the better shows I've seen
Wow. Lucky sumbich.

R.I.P Mark Sandman.
Is there not acoustic guitar in this?
@@arabwaluigi5248There is no guitar at all - 2 string slide bass, drums, and a guy that often plays 2 sax's at the same time!
That can be described with one word. Genius
No se diga mas! The table is fucking rolling

Bought "Cure for Pain" back when it was released. Sounds as fresh today as it did then.
I haven't thought of this album in a long time I can't wait to listen to it. Sopranos brought me here I said wait what's that song I know that song

So funny, I just got into Morphine like a month ago. I'm rewatching Soprano's and I see Meadow and her friend watching a Morphine music video! Sweet.
HOLY SHIT
Totally true. I no longer want to be an Italian restaurant owner after that series.

Nothing to lose 🥃🧊🍺💯🤌
I give the word to this band "唯一無二"
from japan
Mark did not play on double bass in Morphine, as the description is indicating. It was two string fretless bass.

Long before TH-cam, this was one of the first music videos on the internet.
⚡️💎⚡️ Brilliant ⚡️🎩⚡️
This is sick…I can’t believe I’m saying it but a good distortion petal woulda made this amazing
two string bass with a slide and a lot of power
Forgive me, but I'm pretty deep in beer right now. This guy sounds like a REAL jazzy Glen Danzig. No offense.
Except Danzig is not a very nice guy 😣

Another great song I know because of the Sopranos.
