I went to college at West Virginia University. The Exercise Physiology program was a PreMed program, and if I remember right, I had to take an Organic Chemistry class as well. The Chiropractic Colleges give a list on prerequisites to get in the program. Some also provide a pre-chiropractic degree like Human Biology at Palmer College of Chiropractic as well.
Wow ! Huge amount of solid, no nonsense, useful information and guidance presented with superb organization and skillful, beautiful, tight illustration. Vastly better than most of the rest of what is being shown on this " hot " topic. Thank you so very much ma'am- you're in a class all by yourself.
agreed!!! I look forward to doing a lot more of these after my hip replacement. I can do 'some' of them now. All RS videos are helpful to me now and for the future!
Thanks for the info I'm one of those persons who need to know the "why" behind the action and you've done a great job with this especially when you showed why the person running may feel pain in their ankle. I never knew why that happens to me I just thought I needed more work on my hamstring. Thanks for sharing that tidbit. You have presented a lot of information and I think it will take several reruns before I can grasp all you have presented but it's worth it. Thanks again for the great video!
10:03. Lol. I’m sorry. This video was very informative and I can’t imagine how long it took to gather and edit all this information. Great job. Keep up the excellent work
If you're wondering if this is true, coming from Kinesiology student, I 100% co-sign to this. What's so funny about this is that I learn all of this in Kinesiology and it's all coming back to me. One of the best channels on TH-cam next to Athlean-X (Jeff Cavaliere). You two are shaping up the future the right way. Hats off to you guys.
I SO wish that I could train with you!! 3 years of lower back agony, personal trainers, physio, acupuncture and a chiropractor.....and you seem to be the only one who gets it......I have become afraid to exercise for fear of further injury and doing nothing makes the pain worse too.....sigh.....thank you for your amazing professionalism.
I have only just discovered online training, have done so many pilates and yoga classes and your training is truly wonderful , am so thrilled to have found you. Thank you.
You added SO much amazing info to this video! I am kinda crushing on you right now because of how well you present these points!! I'm a massage therapist and recently I've had to basically learn to walk again after tearing one of my most medial hamstrings (more likely my intermuscular septum). It's been a long process since I didn't act as soon as I should have in physical therapy but now I'm seeing amazing results from my training. I will be sharing this video with clients who really need to understand how the lower body functions! So grateful for you and your synthesis.
You really have a gift....being able to demonstrate and explain (all the science you are aware of), in such a way that the "common man" understands so clearly; sets you apart from many....Thank you from 🇿🇦
Thank you for this very informative video! I only wish I had this when I seriously injured my lower back 4 years ago. Through lots of appointments with my (trusted) chiropractor, we determined at the time that it was something deep within my hip that caused the injury. I have a feeling that because my glutes weren't activating properly, a lot of the very tiny muscles deep within my hip like piriformis and glute minimus got way too tight. Through slowly-introduced glute and other core training over the course of a year (due to the amount of pain I was in, this was difficult and took some time for me to not feel pain anymore), I built up the strength in my glutes. I realized that prior to training my glutes and activating them properly, whenever I walked, the motion was coming from my quads, and when I stepped off the sidewalk to cross the road, I pulled something and that's when the back pain started. Now, years later, I've noticed the following: 1) I can walk MUCH faster without additional effort 2) I can sprint/run much faster even though I'm neither a sprinter nor runner 3) When I walk, all the power comes from my glutes and most importantly 4) the back pain hasn't returned and when I do feel a bit of tension in my lower back, I know exactly which muscles need to be worked on.
Thank so much for a detailed explanation. I'm an ex pt/fitness coach specialising in posture analysis, and you have taught me some knew things and reminded me of stuff I have forgotten. I have major muscle loss on my lower left side, due to arthritis in my left hip. Just starting to re-gain some strength now, but need more work. On Corona lockdown in the UK so I have no excuses and plenty of time to fix myself. Thank you 👍🏿🙏🏿🇬🇧🇦🇬
I Love how clear and concise this woman talks 😂😂😂😂 it keeps me tuned in! By the way, never had someone explain glutes in this way... She breaks it down and presents all the research to back it up- I like it💪🏽
All your videos are true to the name Redefining Strength. The scientific insight you provide to the why of doing any movement and/or exercise and the progression of a routine is comprehensive. Even if one mutes your explanations, just watching your posture and the clearness of your movements is education enough as to how to do any stretch or exercise properly and correctly. Thank you.
I',m sure I've commented on your video but hey ho I came back after many months and want to re-appreciate and thank you for this video. I have never seen a more rich information based explanation and rationale for exercise!! god bless you
As someone that doesn't know WHAT there doing while trying to workout, this video is amazing. I Loveee learning about the physiology of our body and how it works! So, THANK YOU for combining the proper workout with the science of what our body does while doing so:D
Wow! Ton of info in this TH-cam video. I really liked the break down of different moves for different purposes. She speaks kind of fast so you have to listen carefully and watch several times to fully understand, at least I had to.
I started adding the glute activation step to my workouts in January, and omg! I hadn't realised how very much more I could be using them, and now I am much more stable in strong in my lifting. Thanks!
This is the best video on TH-cam for this topic. I've had so much trouble really making these connections, and your use of graphics and video examples really helped me. Thanks!
You’re so amazing, I’m so glad I found you!!! You’re videos are so thorough and I love the way you present the information. Thank you for inspiring me to wake my a** up! I did one of your shoulder workouts today, so great! Keep up the outstanding work woman!
Truly evidenced based info - the variety of exercise choice is fantastic - I’ve struggled with over activation of my hamstring and glute inhibition preventing full return to running since 2017. These new exercise I hope will help continue to shift my recruitment patterns which are still faulty and reduce back and leg pain. Thanks from an ATC and PTA I love finding such accurate and researched info. Thank you for your knowledge to apply for myself and my patients (can be applicable although I work in skilled physical therapy-mostly geriatrics)
Thank you for creating this video. It is both informative and entertaining to watch. I know I will be applying some of what I learned here into my workout routines!
Simply outstanding! Both the depth and breadth of the information as well as your pedagogy. I am a retired trainer (7yrs), also and RKC Kettlebell instructor, for 20yrs. Your video will be a must-see for any and all of my future clients who are committed to learning to "Swing the Iron" (lol). I very much look forward to your future videos and tip my hat to you. Job well done. Respectfully, J.P. Tantarelli Jr.
Brilliant, absolutely brilliant video. This is gonna help me so much after years of lower back and neck issues. Glutes are well on my radar. I could of done with you 25 years ago.
Again... you are knocking it out of the park with this information. This has been so difficult for me due to running injuries but I’m slowly learning, to bad I had to learn these lessons the hard way. Thanks for your video.
Best hip and glute site on the web. Love all the science linked, and the logical manner in which the data is revealed. Looking forward to putting more of this into action!
... and finally I’ve understood the reason why I always end up feeling sore and pain, and having injuries. And Why I cannot improve my running pace despite hours and hours of hard training. I have to reset all I believed (= to be strong and well trained) and... starting from the top!!! Thank you Cori for the exaustive explanation.
Sometimes we do really need to regress to progress! It's about not just doing the right moves but making sure we actually feel the correct muscles working!
This is great. I am 52 , I have a hazel nut sized growth in my left hip. 18 yrs ago they said I would need a new hip. Still haven't gotten one. Why mussel training and keeping the glut and leg mussels strong. This was great and refreshed some important knowledge. Thanks
Wow .. that was a ton of info in a short time ... almost overwhelming really. I am in dyer need of building and following a glute program to help recover from Patellofemoral replacement surgery. I have a really tough time with squats at this point and the same with dead lifts. The incline leg press machine seems to be the only method that I can use to add any real weight to build strength. Since I have had two knee surgeries in the last 18 months, my quads are completely gone (I'm 55 years old) and although I have been doing tons of PT movements for stabilization and glute work with bands, I seem to have plateaued and now starting to suffer from IT band syndrome. Your videos are truly the most informative I have found yet and some have even taught me that some of the movements, especially foam rolling the IT band, that I have been doing are likely doing more harm than good. Thank you for all the info.
You may want to consider the hip thrust. Game changer and you can really lift some serious weight and very easy on the knees. I am due for knee surgery in the next couple of years. I wrap my knees just to be sure but it's am amazing lift and super safe. For more information check out Bret Contreras' videos on the hip thrust and how to do it. A must if it's a new lift for you.
So remember too that you need to learn how to squat through a range of motion. I would recommend box squats to control the ROM and rebuild as well as mini band squats and wall sits. The thruster is an amazing posterior chain move as well. And weighted glute bridges are key. Do NOT forget the importance for you to start of ISOLATION ACTIVATION based movements to re-establish those proper recruitment patterns as surgery disrupts them. So do very light moves focused on isolating muscles so you can really FEEL what should be working!
You are fantastic! Such a wealth of information with scientific backing. I just found you and subscribed. Can’t wait for more videos! I have a feeling you are going to be instrumental to my strength training journey! Thanks ❤️
Such a no-BS channel and this was explained so, so well. Thank you. I never even knew the real point of foam rolling until I watched this, and now I'm going to start doing it!
I'm back here 2019' because you're just ultimately one of the best trainers out there. I consider your training methodology as something for both rapid results and indeed for long-term healthy fitness. So cool!!
Do you read mind!!! I was searching the Web for the exact topic and bam, your notification popped up :-D To the point correct information I was looking for.. Thank you, You're a Goddess, bless you dear.
@@redefiningstrengthOC How about beginners. I read wall squats are useless, is that true? As I can't do even the simplest squat without falling over, is holding a chair OK, and how long should it take until I can do a squat unaided? Thanks.
@@ktkee7161 you can do some pilates also, it's great also for the glutes, you can start on the floor and after get a big and a small ball. Pilates will help you to strength all your body, to creat stability and balance the abdos also primordial!!!
Digital marketing, my friend. Your search history and browsing habits are constantly monitored so that advertising and content can be tailored to your interests. Rule of thumb - if something on the internet is free, then you are the product.
I'm coming out of a serious illness and formulating my workouts now that I don't feel fragile. Have already started with a few stretches for the shoulders, lower back and glutes but only recently saw a foam roller in a video. It's going to be a slow progress for me considering I stopped training years ago and need a lot of motivation. Have subscribed and look forward to learn some new stuff here :)
Thank you so much for all this valuable information. I saw this video a few months back and I didn't pay attention because I wasn't ready for this type of information (face reality). THANK YOU AGAIN!!
I only understood about 30 percent of this and still learned a ton. Pretty clear you know what you're talking about, your body is incredible. Blown away by how fast you spoke during the video. All those scientific words without missing a beat, quite impressive. Keep up the great work gorgeous.
Amazing ---Lady got brains and back. So much information --wow. I thought that isometric "clenching" would be covered but most likely part of activation? Its easy to do during the day while sitting at work..stuck in traffiic. Etc
You are awesome 🤩 soo strong and your videos are so incredible clear and helpful as well as showing evidence where you get your information. Thank you so much for this video. I really needed this-multiple ankle injuries many years ago that reoccur every year and then giving birth a few years ago that resulted in weak hips then low back pain, I finally feel like answers are right here and I can actually take action to repair things. I have tried many things, but this is actually helping and effective for me without causing pain or injury. Thank you thank you thank you ❤❤❤
Good points. Isn't it strange that things that have been known for decades are again being written/referred to as if they are newer information. Then studies about those topics are again being done? 1 point that I like to emphasize close to the beginning of a session rather than just emphasizing by saying activate a muscle is to start with repositioning if needed to position bones, muscles, etc. for optimal length tension relationships, etc. to better be able to use the muscles etc. that I want optimally. You did mention the concept of how important this, being in optimal position, can be, for example when you talked about technique for the glute bridge/hip thrust (posterior pelvic tilt with head position to avoid low back extension, and that during hip ABduction exercises, movement patterns have differences in muscles emphasized with different amounts of hip and knee bend, flexion, . But there is, of course, more depending on individual needs what repositioning to emphasize both close to the beginning of a session, throughout a session and details of technique, etc. during the session. Thank you for talking about how important technique, relative positions of the body are to training and for the rest of this video. I appreciate you helping me think about some training topics. Thank you
A genuinely science based channel: The gym is loaded with guys avoiding important exercises like these and only focusing on big lifts -- eventually injuring themselves or being unable to continue in the long run. I always value the supplementary exercises to strengthen my core so that I am safe and have solid NO CHEATING big lifts. That being said, I have learned so much from this video that I will never be able to thank you enough. Throwing away ego and training science based is what we need
🙌🏽I wasn't sure if I wanted to get some muscle but listening to just a few minutes of this vid. Omghh I am so going to refocus on my sleepy glutes🙈😴😴😴Thank you for awesome vid🙏 Covid has me refocusing on my physical strength as much a mental.
Very thorough rundown of the funktion of the glutes, but easy to understand. Nice illustrations to go along with your explanations and lots of exercises to play around with. You really don't need more than this video to get going 💪😎
Nice work... Informative and much more useful than most other "fitness" videos. I have severe Anterior tilt and always interested in trying new ways to tweak it.
What an amazing channel for fitness. One of the best.. You are as good or even better than athleanx.. Thank you for putting all that knowledge out there.. I am really benefitting with glute activation to recover from a knee injury and shoulder posture..!! thank you..!!!
Compact knowledge of muscle Glute , proper explanations and examples of workouts with so much editing ,I am your new subscriber Maam. Keep it up the great work. Thanks once again.
So glad you like the videos! Also, if you do need it all written out I linked to a transcript in the video description (which even has the video up top!) And bands...the booty band or the large pull up assist bands I only use for glute stuff haha? I have both those listed here if that helps? www.amazon.com/shop/redefiningstrength
I recently learned to enjoy running as it’s a common non voluntary past time (military physical training) lol . Yet I have started to find pain in both my IT Band, and my lower back. After much research I realized this is due to my lack of attention to my posterior muscle group. This video you made is extremely helpful. I like to know the why, and the then the why to my original why and you breakdown every detail. Thank you for the video I will definitely continue to support!
I’m a Coach and Personal Trainer and I honestly am somewhat weirded out to say that I learnt WAY MORE from you than I did on my course. This is SO CLEAR - SO DETAILED - SO INCREDIBLE. As a chiropractor, pelvic bridge is my most prescribed home exercise for low back issue prevention. This is a great video, well done.
Thank you!
DrLee, what was the process of education you took to become a chiropractor
BS in Exercise Physiology with a couple extra classes was a great setup for Chiropractic College. Does that answer your question?
DRL T337 I only just a notification of you comment.
When you say some classes- how many classes and what specific courses, probably paid too right?

Love the clinically rigorous and direct nature of this presentation. So lean with little fluff but fun and pleasant. High-quality video.
Would love a video on foam rolling before workouts! You're the best

You are fantastic! Such a wealth of information with scientific backing. I just found you and subscribed. Can’t wait for more videos! I have a feeling you are going to be instrumental to my strength training journey! Thanks ❤️
this is the most informative fitness channel I've found in quite some time. great demos and layperson explanation of the mechanics of the body.
So cool!!
Thank you!
Do you read mind!!! I was searching the Web for the exact topic and bam, your notification popped up :-D To the point correct information I was looking for.. Thank you, You're a Goddess, bless you dear.
haha YAY! So glad it helped!
Put it out to the Universe and it comes to you lol

Fantastic Video! Thank you for the tips. I am going to implement your 4 step approach to the Gluteus Muscles!!
Very interesting and concise. And cool kaleidoscope training pants!
Thank you so much for all this valuable information. I saw this video a few months back and I didn't pay attention because I wasn't ready for this type of information (face reality). THANK YOU AGAIN!!
You are truely amazing. Love your posts, the way you explain and passion. You inspire me 🙏🏽
Easily one of the best glute training (or any muscle group) vids I’ve come across. Kudos and thanks!
Thank you!
I only understood about 30 percent of this and still learned a ton. Pretty clear you know what you're talking about, your body is incredible. Blown away by how fast you spoke during the video. All those scientific words without missing a beat, quite impressive. Keep up the great work gorgeous.
You too cutie.
Genius video. So many people have imbalances, including myself. I so needed this! Thanks 🙏
best explanation I've seen on the internet. Very Very thanks from a brazilian surfer.
Glad it helps!
Ok, I gotta click subscribe after watching this video. Straight up high-quality content! Thank you.
Amazing ---Lady got brains and back. So much information
--wow.
I thought that isometric "clenching"
would be covered but most likely part of activation?
Its easy to do during the day while sitting at work..stuck in traffiic. Etc
This is the best glute science explained video of all the 500 I watched!!! Amazing! Thank you
Aw thank you so much! So glad it helped!
I’m downloading this and keeping it forever ❤️ freaking AWESOME 🙏❤️👍🏼thank you
One of the best videos about glute training I've ever seen!
Thank you thank you thank you ❤❤❤
You are fantastic. I am going to need to rewatch this and take serious notes. Thank you so much.
Love the way you give scientific explanation to every exercise
Thank you
Very very useful video, ill send this to my fysiotherapist to explain what im working with.
Also, the 'Over dramatization' notice is hilarious
A genuinely science based channel:
The gym is loaded with guys avoiding important exercises like these and only focusing on big lifts -- eventually injuring themselves or being unable to continue in the long run.
I always value the supplementary exercises to strengthen my core so that I am safe and have solid NO CHEATING big lifts.
That being said, I have learned so much from this video that I will never be able to thank you enough.
Throwing away ego and training science based is what we need
Thanks so much! So glad the video helps!
Thank you. So grateful for you and this channel.

Can you do a follow along routine involving 4 steps please?
I think this is by for the most comprehensive and informative video I’ve ever seen on glutei! Thanks very much for sharing this ;)
I recently learned to enjoy running as it’s a common non voluntary past time (military physical training) lol .
So glad it helps Kevin! If you aren't really make sure to dial in that foam rolling, stretching and activation prior to your runs!!
Redefining Strength will do! Thank you!
Hey what about a video showing how to properly use the foam roller.
So glad I found you, best information by far! I finally understand the connection between my lower back pain, hip flexor and knee issues. Thank you!!
