Hair Buddha thank you, it is NOT just hair. I have Lupus it does many horrible things to our bodies. But ruining our hair so we look bad and are sick is very disheartening. So I appreciate that you remind people that there are many people who can't just grow their hair back.

As a hairdresser, I'm guilty of saying its just hair, mostly for clients who are nervous to change their style. Ive never thought of it the way you presented the same information. Thank you for that.

yes, it's just hair, but when you've had a bad haircut and your hair almost doesn't grow, it's terribly exhausting, maddening. Hair growth products do not help, and you just look at yourself in the mirror and hope every time that you will look better in a month. But this does not happen, since the hair almost does not grow😢 (my problem)

I don't think its right to tell other people who are also trying to live with their bad hair situations (whatever it may be) not to say its just hair. That maybe their own way of coping with whatever they are going through mentally.

    • @L.K.Rydens

@@pare5108I don't think he means to shame anyone, he's saying it bc most people say it before they do something bad to their hair, not just after. He's saying it to remind people before they do something that bc most people who do this do not actually feel it's just hair, but they still say it before and then they make a mistake and he genuinely feels for them (unlike a b*tch like me, who actually feel it's just hair and just get frustrated that ppl change their hair if they care they f*ck it up and wish they would stop doing it if they are emotionally attached to their hair bc it sucks that they get sad). So, he's being empathetic, but still telling ppl so they learn that most ppl that are not crazy like me, and do care if they mess it up (it's his job to say it). So what he's really saying is that if you care about your hair then it's not just hair, so stop saying that if you break your own heart messing it up. Hairdresser go through years of training, so if you care, see one of them ❤️

My mother cut my hair once in a while when I was a kid and no, it's not just hair. She cut it so short and then CURLED it and I got teased so bad at school that I'd hide in the bathroom at recess. I had things thrown at me, my hair pulled etc. I was so upset I went home and called my mom the B word. Needless to say I got in a ton of trouble for that. I've allowed my boys to get whatever haircut they want by a professional of course. If they don't like the result, I'd pay to take them to a different hair professional. I never want my kids to ever feel the way I felt as a kid. My boys have beautiful hair and they love letting it grow out. People take their hair for granted. Like people take their fingers, toes, feet, hands, arms, legs, etc for granted.

I liked your very sensitive comment that it's not "just hair". I, and many others have suffered hairloss though illness and/or medication, it's devastating, and the worry makes the situation worse! Also, many can't grow their hair beyond a certain point or it doesn't grow well at all. But to be fair, most terrible haircuts, especially self-inflicted ones, do eventually grow out!

  • @DafSpi

Your comment about "it's just hair" reminds me of when I had hair as long as the girl in the video and I rage cut it off because of a mental breakdown (to be very brief, a lot of it has to do with my self worth) and being quite sad that I cut it because I really wanted to donate my hair if I ever decided to go short 💔

  • @sophiegolden

I saw that haircut in a Bollywood movie. Short around the face and very long in the back. When I loose 20/25cm of my very long hair after a thiroit cancer, I used that cut, in wavy style, during months . That helped me a lot for my moral. Hairdressers are so important, I have no words, in those hard times, yes hair are important... So I was not chocked by the curly style, but straight, no horrible. Of course it needs a little layered cut...👍🏻

I can do it, but it always makes me nervous so I start VERY conservatively until I can see the style starting to take shape and then I get a little more confident and aggressive in following the lines I began originally until I my hair is laying the way I want it to. And I clean it up after it’s dried and straightened.

    • @TwoBs
      @TwoBs ปีที่แล้ว +1

Same lol. When my husband bought me a really nice pair of shears since I was always complaining about not having a good pair to “do it right”, I had to learn the hard way to know my limits and to stop nitpicking when a sharp pair is in my hands.
I go with wee little baby cuts at sharp angles for face framing layers. Once I get the angles good and I like the direction they’re going, I get a little more bold and start going for length to frame things a bit more. Then I do my bangs (wispy and curtain, round them out a bit), and then stop, style, and check how things are. If I think I’m not satisfied or that I feel I may have fudged up, I put the scissors down and just leave it be until I wash my hair again because I’ve learned to not worry about every little strand.
Newly cut hair can look and lay different after you give it a good wash (especially when dealing with curls and waves), so more often than not, what I thought I’d need to “fix” ends up being just fine. The times it isn’t, it’s usually just very minor easy fixes in one or two small snips then it’s back to putting the shears up lol.

Years ago when I was a young woman, I began a cosmetology course, which I did not finish, because I didn’t then and I still don’t understand what 45 degrees, or 90 degrees, or whatever is, especially on a head! This actually happened to me today😂 (not as bad, because my hair is not that long) What happens is, you comb your perfectly in order to cut it, but first of all this is not how your naturally falls, and then you over direct it and the hair strant more to the back gets pulled a bit to the front, even though it doesn't look like it, then you cut and when you let your hair fall straight down again, the last strand is actually the same length as the middle part, or worse like in her case 😅

The last time I got my hair cut, I asked for a shaggy bob snd the hair dresser styled it curling snd it looked fine just not what I wanted. But when I woke up in the morning and the curls were gone you could see my front fridge was off by over and inch from either side!! I had to go to work in a ponytail 😢 then they charged me $10 to fix it the next day after work. But that really turned me off. & I can see why people would want to do it themselves.

The it’s just hair mentality can be frustrating for some but very helpful for others. I know I had a friend who went through cancer and always says it’s just hair (she was able to grow it back but it never came in the same). I always say it because I get criticism for often getting my hair short or people assume I’m a lesbian or transitioning because I get very short hair cuts. It’s the easiest way to say that I don’t draw my identity, attractiveness, or womanhood from my hair. With my hair texture and mental health struggles it can be very hard to take care of so for many years I’d just try many different wild short hair cuts and if I didn’t like it I’d just accept that it’s only a small part of me.

You are so right!! When we mess it up we say "is just hair" to make us feel better about ourselves but we don't think about others need and at the end of all, in the bottom, we know is more than hair and we just regret.

"It's just hair, it grows back" no damn it... why can't the people just be at peace with what they have... especially these people who have healthy hair? There are people whose hair falls out due to illness or cancer. My hair is so long i would never do bad things to my hair... cause i know how long it does till that its grows back !!!

I’m also a hairdresser….. this is my pet hate… seeing the front lengths being cut completely off when trying to cut front layers…. Unfortunately I’ve seen this happen by stylists as well 😳😳🫣🫣 arhhhh it’s like nails on a chalkboard 🫣🫣🫣 just stop cutting 😂😂

Here is the best advice I can give, if you are being adventurous and attempting to cut your hair and you see it isn't going well, Stop and go to someone that knows what they are doing. Dont try to fix it on your own.

Long hair gets boring after awhile, I've had a wolf cut, curtain bangs ect. It's still long as I'm hesitant to cut it,but I think since its naturally wavy a Bob cut might be nice. Love your videos❤

Not gonna lie, I always cut my hair dry and it always looks fine but I also have pretty curly hair so maybe it would look bad if my hair was straight.

I love your content. I recently cut layers in the front of my hair, well….its choppy, I messed up. I watched another creator’s tutorial, I should have watched you. The only thing I find is that these tutorials don’t take into account fine, thinning hair like mine, they are on thicker hair. She is using a certain person’s tutorial which I also used. I should have listened to you.

The only time I cut is when I install crochet hair. It’s curly and you can’t see the mistakes. Even so, I hear “sections” when I do it 😂. I go to the hair salon to get my hair cut.

she ended up with the same haircut i got when i tried to cut layers into my long hair. i ended up with it because i used the unicorn ponytail that over directed my hair around my face AND it meant i cut into the length in the back. so it looks like an asymetrical bob on top with long ends....2 n 1 hair cut...massive regret. now it drives me crazy because the bob part is thicker than the length section under it as its grown out. now i have to let my hair grow so i can cut it level and its going to take a few rounds of growing and cutting to correct it. oh and i didnt cut it short AND i cant even hide the bad hair cut in a ponytail because pulling it up and back makes it look worse and even more obvious with the short hair on top sticking out. i'll be able to hide it in a french braid in 2 mos as it grows out. sighs

As soon as you said it looks like bad extensions, I instantly remember my kids' grandmother, who installs extensions. She learned online and has no cutting experience. I don't know how she has retuning clients. The only way they look any good is when they are curled.

When I realized hair cutting was geometry, it made much more sense. If I want it to lay on along the left, front; I pull it back and to the right. I started by cutting my side bangs, then later moved to other parts over time
