  • In this video I adjust the action on my brand new Benchmade SuperFreek which came WAY too stiff out of the box and then I swap the clip to a mini deep carry clip while I'm working on the knife.

Just performed this exercise with my new Super Freek and it worked like a charm. Thanks so much for posting this.

I am glad you did this. I will follow this step by step when my super freak arrives in a couple days!
W/o this, I most likely would have been stuck with bunk action if mine indeed comes with it.
I will make sure to order “kpl” when it arrives....I’m sure this will be the first of many so it will come in handy for a long time to come👍

I am glade you did this. I have never taken the knife apart and did not know you could take it down like that without messing with the spring. Good to know. Thanks for that!!

It's not that bad to take apart. The hardest part is getting the washers lined up and the pivot back in.

I've taken a few benchmades apart at just the pivot... did all my cleaning and maintenance and then slid the blade and washers back into place.

When I get a new knife that feels gritty or sluggish I usually start with just a quick isopropyl rinse and a shot of compressed air, in the rare occasions where that doesn't fix it I have had great luck giving the washers a quick polish with Meguiars 105 - that seems to make things run smooth as glass.
Also - why aren't we seeing more sculpted layered G10/G-Mascus on knives? It's so damn cool looking!

I agree this material should be used way more!

I know I’m late but damn the super freek is an amazing knife! Maybe I’m still in the honeymoon phase but it’s my favorite benchmade atm. I didn’t like my mini crooked river, mini adamas, aluminum Bugout, or 943 as much

Good job on tuning and changing clip. If it was just stuff usually just flipping it around will take care of it. If gritty then do what you did. Enjoy. Now Kyle can get his back.

I really like kpl. I have a big bottle of blue lube that I haven't even tried yet.

My limited experience with KPL has been really good so far 👍🏻

Wait… if opening the knife voids the warranty, then how do they expect you to lube the knife?

Are we not gonna talk about that knife flip tho lol

I want a silky action with zero blade play. But the only way i get it is by loosening the pivot. May try this

Is it hard to disassemble it past what u did? Seems u were almost there ?

🤦🏼‍♂️. You could of saved yourself 15 minutes just buy taking only the pivot out completely. Unscrew the pivot, push it out with something smaller then the diameter of the threads of the locking screw, take the blade and washers out, lube both sides of the blade where the washer ride(inside the frame too). Line up one washer in the frame, push the D pivot in just enough to keep the clip side washer inline, slide the blade with the other washer on the blade in the frame and align everything with a toothpick or pin punch, then(important) relieve tension by pulling back on the lock and push the pivot through. Screw in the tightening screw and you’re done.
