Enfield is my hometown. I remember watching from our porch overlooking Mascoma Lake as the trains went by on the tracks across the lake from our house. I miss those days. The trains stopped running when I was still rather young.
You can still see the horizontal marks on the rock cut left by the derailment. The rock cut also features the carved initials of the men that made the cut when the line was first put in.
I live in Lebanon and magnet fish as a hobby, I recently this past weekend did some magnet fishing at Mascoma Lake and found some railroad spikes that I've been told could be from a train collision at Mascoma Lake
Whitefield NH could MAYBE use a follow up video. When we were up there in june, NHDOT was removing grade crossings going toward the metal trustle bridge in dalton. Not sure if they're turning the tracks into a trail ,or if they're just removing the crossing, to be rebuilt if a customer comes back. The north country NH/ME/VT is proof that the people nor the leaders care about our future.....
good video
