    A modest power gain and a little bit more throaty exhaust note. Nothing over the top. Can someone make a tune for this car? :-)
    ATLP J-pipe and post-cat (third cat) delete. Mandrel bent tubing, efficient collector design. The only performance modification I know of available in the U.S. for the 2007-2009 Acura MDX with 3.7 litre J series motor. Check out all my videos: www.youtube.co... Did you have any appreciable change in MPG?? I have a Honda Crosstour with the 3.5. She loves to run and she loves her gas at about 15MPG city. You seem like the kind of guy who'd keep track of fuel economy if for no other reason than the overall health of the car. Great Vid BTW

    Did that throw off any of the O2 sensor.?

    • @ModMINI
      @ModMINI  9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      No O2 sensor codes thrown. The O2 sensors are all upstream from the J-Pipe.

    • @hans6240
      @hans6240 9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Isnt there an O2 Sensor (downstream) behind the rear cat to check for efficiency of BANK1? Did you use an O2 simulator for this one?

    • @ModMINI
      @ModMINI  9 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hans Owens The stock J-pipe contains only the secondary cat which is not checked for efficiency by any O2 sensor. There is no O2 sensor after the J-pipe. Everything works fine with existing O2 sensors and no codes.

    I want to remove the j pipe from my 08 TL. I have heard that these can get rusted. You said penetrating oil can help and I will definitely use that. I'm concerned that I may snap off a stud or break bolt. Any suggestions in addition to penetrating oil? Is impact wrench better than breaker bar to avoid possible breakage?

    Does removing the catalic converter and replace it with the j pipe cause your check engine light to come on because I wanted to do this mod for my 2012 TL reason for asking is because I have straight pipe from the 😺 catalic converter to quads tip's no mid resonator and no muffler except the one at the y pipe still let me know crazy 😧 content 🤣

      ***** i actually have a 2012 acura tl 3.7 its about the same engine i think but bored out. Im trying to get an idea what exhaust i want and wondering if it would be cheaper just to get it straight piped. Then some say it would be too "droney" on highway, but doesnt a j-pipe like the one u installed cancel drone?

    • @RoofStud
      @RoofStud 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@acuramattb4525 07-09 MDX engine is slightly different than 10-13 (higher compression pistons, Nikasil cylinder liners, etc), but the cylinder bore is the same. The J pipe doesn't cancel out drone, the resonators do that. The long-tube J pipe frees up the exhaust flow, but to see a significant increase in output, you'd need HFPCs that don't trip o2 sensors, and less restrictive exhaust components past the J pipe. With my '12, the plan is a single 3" instead of dual 2.125" (same internal volume) with a serious resonated test pipe to cancel drone, and single straight-thru muffler for tone (GReddy Revolution RS or ISR). The factory J pipe is incredibly restrictive, so it's the first thing to do, but with factory pre-cats, resonators, and mufflers, there are still bottlenecks in the exhaust, just not as severe as the stock J pipe.

    • @RoofStud
      @RoofStud 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@acuramattb4525 Sorry, I missed the part about yours being a TL. The MDX is a J37A1, your TL is a J37A4. Bore and stroke are the same, as is the compression ratio as 10-13 MDX, but the TL has a different throttle body and intake, so output is a bit higher. But the block itself is the same.

      This setup removes the post-cat but I can't remove the main cats as it will fail emissions inspection. Definitely though, if the cats are gone the car will have more power and make more sound.
