You lost eight videos, Lexi??? I know that making a joke about it was probably just for the camera because that must have been really difficult. I’m so sorry that happened after all your hard work. I want you to know that I appreciate all the time and energy you put into your videos and everything you do!! Thank you for being a constant source of joy
Aw thank you!! It was my own fault honestly I should have checked them since it was a new mic- but yeah I took off an entire day just to let myself be sad about it I was working soooo hard on those vlogs. Oh well lol it happens!
Lexy, you’re one of the best book tubers out there…I’m 51 and even I absolutely enjoy listening and watching. In fact I get excited when you post a video.
@alexandraroselyn I loved A Deadly Education, it was so unique in its voice and setting, and of course the classics A Secret History and If We Were Villains are favorites!
I’m learning that dark academia is one of my favorite subgenres. I love the witchy shit 🧹 I think your criticism of Evocation are fair - I’m also hoping we see more into the relationship dynamics in the following books. Also, love hearing your thoughts on An Education in Malice. Pushing it up the TBR for sure!!
I really enjoy your videos, Lexi. Of all the TH-cam book channels I know, your taste in books is the closest to mine. When you recommend a book, I am almost guaranteed to like it as well 🦇
I’m so excited for the video. I saved it for when I could cozy up and watch with some tea. I’m really proud of my reading challenge. I’ve read 84 books so far this year, and I’m going through my middle grade scary list. I’m currently reading Coraline, and it is so creepy. I’ve had such a good time this year, and I’ve been genuinely impressed by many good books. Edited to add: I’m so sorry about the lost videos. I would have been inconsolable for daaaaays. Like, I’d need to wallow for quite a while. Thank you for posting ❤
I have about 100 pages left of An Academy for Liars so I hit pause when you arrived in the beret and will watch the rest after I finish. Looking forward to book club!
Thank you for the reviews on the books, and the trigger warnings. I won’t be reading Academy as I’m super sensitive to anything related to harming animals. I’ve put down a few books when I discovered they contained this type of thing; I never picked them up again. Your room is beautiful and cozy btw 😊💜
I really really enjoyed this amazing video love it 🥰 and your amazing channel prayers and blessings for you and your family love your Aussie family friend John xxx
An Education in Malice feel like it had nods to Carmilla but it can absolutely stand on its own. I was unsure about it at first because there were so many mixed reviews but you an another of my favorite booktubers have loved AEIM so I’ll pick it up! I do have to start with A Dowry Of Blood though. I loved this cozy little video, thank you Lexi! 🫶
What a great video Lexi. I always enjoy your videos and this time you read 3 books that i've been interested in. I haven't read any of them yet. I don't know why but when I read the synopsis of Academy of Liars or hear reviews, I always think of the book, Vita Nostra. I know it's not the same story or the same setting but something reminds me of it. I'll be interested to read it and see how I feel then.
I just finished Bound in Blood! 'Footnotes,' 'Choose Your Own Adventure,' 'Bell, Book, and Lamp,' 'Near Zennor,' and 'Pending Licensor Approval' were my faves!
I bought a bag of books yday so it is fun to watch you with yours haha! I also bought Rise and Divine as well as the previous book Back in a Spell. I also bought Brom's new book "Evil in Me", The Christmas Tree Farm by Laurie Gilmore, and Playground by Richard Powers.
I think the reason why I didn't enjoy An Education in Malice as much was because I had read A Dowry of Blood right before and was obsessed with it! Sapphic Vampire books have such a grip on me though❤
My favorite dark academia book is The Library of Shadows, it’s set at a haunted boarding school but mostly in the library with ghosts that the main character can see and talk to. It was also set during fall, I loved the setting so much 😊 I also plan to read Rise & Divine which I saw someone say has a stabby castle 👀 do you mind telling me the page # of the spicy scenes in An Education in Malice so I can skip them? If you know them tysm
I think I will reread An Education in Malice soon. I admittedly did not love it as much as you. I wish it explored the questionable element of the professor more. I too have Lucy Undying and I am very excited to read it. Currently I am focused on Things We Lost in the Fire by Mariana Enriquez, a short story collection that is very interesting and unexpected so far, and Before the Devil Knows You're Here which I have mixed feelings on but there are things I like. I am also am going to let you know about the games I am playing because you may like them too. It is the Creepy Tale series. It is kind of a horror puzzle game in which your brother is taken by these...things and you are getting him back while traveling these dangerous houses and using your smarts to get through. I will be playing the second tomorrow.
🍂👻🎃I can't wait to read An Academy for Liars, and I'm so glad you loved it. I've been staying away from a lot of reviews of it because I don't want it to be spoiled, but I knew you wouldn't spoil it and after hearing what you had to say, I want to read it even more! Also in your last video (maybe the one before that?) you recommend Sorcery and Small Magics by Maiga Doocy, and I just finished reading it, and I Absolutely Loved It! I don't know if you've read it yet but I really think you will like it a lot. I read it in less than 24 hours, I couldn't put it down! So thank you for the great recommendations!
Maybe Moira will develop a relationship with David's sister, who is due to be a focus of one of the 4 books in the series? ST Gibson discussed the sister during the book launche events, she sounds great.
I’m glad you liked an education in malice. Unfortunately, I liked the idea but could not get past the overall sophomoric writing. I like the writing in what I’m currently reading, The Monstrous Kind, which even though it is a YA the author is showing off her superb skills. I wish S. T. Gibson could have written like that, which may be unfair. I just crave less cliché.
YES! Omg ok idk if it was you or someone else but at the end of this vlog I say “I just found out Saint is her first name from a comment omg!!” Lol lol I was so happy to find that out!! 😂❤
I read An Education in Malice and I hated it, but listening to your review, I feel like I was so wrong lol Honestly, An Education In Malice did itself a disservice, coming out directly after A Dowry of Blood with continued themes of rewriting another classic vampire novel. It is so drastically different from A Dowry of Blood, and we were all expecting it to be the same. A Dowry of Blood is one of my favorite books of all time, and because of that, I had incredibly high expectations of An Education in Malice to be in alignment with A Dowry of Blood as far as the atmosphere and lyrical prose. I just feel like we all were taken aback by how drastically different it was from the first book that made us all fall in love with Saint's writing.
@donnavo101 I would definitely recommend approaching it as a completely different author even because the writing isn't anywhere near the same. If I had done that I probably wouldn't liked it more.
Oh no losing 8 videos!! 😢 That is so annoying I'm sorry that happened!! Love the reading vlog and all your videos, you take so much time to give some gorgeous vlogs and it is appreciated!! I LOVE Lock And Key, it is so good!!!

OH GOD KATY LAST NIGHT WAS ROUGH LOL LOL.
You are the top booktuber for Dark Academia!!
I loved An Academy for Liars! Sooo good!
Thank you Alexa, still warm, in the 80 over here. Will read An Education in Malice 🦇🐾💚📚
Evocation sounds so good 👀
OMG! Your intuition was spot on about the author’s name! I stand corrected. Haha! Love that revelation! 38:02
Thank you for the reviews on the books, and the trigger warnings. I won’t be reading Academy as I’m super sensitive to anything related to harming animals. Love your Fall content!
I just finished Bound in Blood! 'Footnotes,' 'Choose Your Own Adventure,' 'Bell, Book, and Lamp,' 'Near Zennor,' and 'Pending Licensor Approval' were my faves!
I would suggest you to add books of author Sobers Rodrigues in your TBR. He is amazing with his dark fantasies.
Oo thanks I’ll check him out :)
PLEASE listen to A Dowry of Blood! It was amazing. The reader had an amazing, sultry voice. 😊
Love! I needed this today 🍁🍂🎃🥧🦊
😊❤❤❤❤
I bought a bag of books yday so it is fun to watch you with yours haha! I also bought Rise and Divine as well as the previous book Back in a Spell. I also bought Brom's new book "Evil in Me", The Christmas Tree Farm by Laurie Gilmore, and Playground by Richard Powers.

13:42 i just picked up Bound in Blood from my library the other day!!
Why was this part funny to me 1:08 ❤
You should look into The Wisteria Society for Lady Scoundrels from India Holton. It's so good, and whimsical, and fun!
An Education in Malice 5 ⭐️ Academy for Liars 4 ⭐️ loved Dark Academia during readathon 🦇
🦇💀☠️ I didn't love the polygamy in S T Gibson's book too, though I am really excited to pic academy of liars
Great list. I often feel like reading dark academia, but most I know of the ones I come across are YA, and I prefer adult books
Happy Halloween
21:01 Using the names Moira & David was killing me. That author must be a Schitt’s Creek fan lol
My favorite dark academia book is The Library of Shadows, it’s set at a haunted boarding school but mostly in the library with ghosts that the main character can see and talk to. 🦇 Another great video
have you watched the “interview with the vampire” show or read the book? because it’s everything you said you love and more 🦇🩸🖤
The cover of Evocation is basically a replica of the hanged man tarot card which symbolizes sacrifice/surrender. Is that an accurate for the book?!?!
A lovely surprise on a Monday morning!🦇 💀
