I have got one with Monitor Audio Bronze 6. I am happy with the change from Denon PMA 800 NE to Arcam A5. Better separation of virtual sources/instruments. A wider stage and noticeable stage depth compared to the PMA 800NE.
The A15 sounds slightly brighter than the A5. This gives the impression that the bass in the A15 is slightly less impressive. The A15 has a slightly wider stage, but the difference is at the level of nuance. Basically, the A5 is not a lower model than the A15, but only different and with a weaker output power. This way, it should be considered. In my opinion, of course.
@@centurianin Thank you for your answer . Arcam A5- Could you tell me what the midrange sounds like? Are the vocals pushed out or pulled back? Does this amplifier sound in a V plane or is it even? Can high tones be sharp?
@@sk91ko In my subjective opinion. The A5 plays in relatively detail. The bass can go low, but it's not boomy, it's just where it's supposed to be, it doesn't spread out, it's very flexible and dynamic. Mid tones, a lot depends on the quality of the recording. If the vocals are recorded correctly and the mix is well balanced, you will hear the singers where they need to be and clearly. Overall, the midrange is rather balanced, with a tendency towards possible minimal rollback, but the amplifier definitely does not sound in a "V" style. The high tones are very pleasant, warm, slightly rounded, but at the same time sufficiently detailed. They are like "drops of water", not like "icicles" ;) You can listen to music for a long time and it doesn't get tiring. There is no sibilant hissing. Some people rate this amplifier as, hmmm, I don't know how to describe it in English - "dry" (?). However, in my opinion, this is not the case, although there are certainly more melodic devices. It is, of course, my subjective opinion. ps. This is important because the selection of loudspeakers is also important. My A5 plays with Monitor Audio Bronze 6 speakers. I read that the KEF Q750 speakers are also recommended for this amplifier. Sorry for the mistakes, English is not my native language.
So clean
sounds good!
