This is the kind of stuff I teach AD-FREE Mondays to Fridays over on Twitch: www.twitch.tv/meik The flowchart shown, along with many other useful things, are available for you in the Discord server: discord.gg/meik
This is the kind of information you'll never find in the official Phas Discord nor will the community helpers/mods tell you that. Bet some of them would label that as "hacks" of "wrong information" if someone brings it up there.
To no one's surprise after it came out how Shuee is acting out her god complex and treats other people behind closed doors. See: th-cam.com/video/_-eBIcO4eZw/w-d-xo.html
Great video as always Meik! I think it would have been helpful to explain that the way the banshee roams to its target is a series of short roams as this will be confusing for those saying "but the Banshee did long roam to me half way across Sunny Meadows, so this is wrong!"
We had a ghost orb on insanity, the ghost orb moved and they were all yelling at me to go banshee (somebody heard the scream), but I kept on saying that banshees cannot switch ghost room because of your chart, they all went banshee and I was the only one to get mimic (thanks)
@jasonsenter1646 they cannot change ghost room, that is the entire point of Meik's video. Meik and other people of the community have thoroughly scienced the heck out of the game and this gimmick to prove this theory.
Perfectly explained in detail! Amazing! Best channel with the juiciest info and extensive knowledge about the game that no one else can provide, not even the so called "community helpers" in the Phasmophobia Discord, that supposedly remember that the banshee changed room last night KEKW
I never know Banshee can't change room, but what I ever witnessed that Banshee can change target within the hunt (by smudging) or after someone died (even not the target), only multiplayer and all player were inside the house, thx for the infos btw
verry easy to understand maybe i need to send this to a friend that just doesent understand or doesent whant to understand why banshees cant change room
Hey meik. I played with cash1 yesterday and he sent me over here. Really glad he did as your content is so niche and incredible. Really appreciate what you guys are doing in the community and keep up this awesome work!
I think a way to define it would be: "Not that Bansees cannot change rooms, but they won't since their ability causes them to always always choose short roam." Like their coding probably states that it is possible for a Banshee to change rooms, however the right condition never appears. Although I've heard of some people encountering Banshee room changes.
I saw this on the Twitch Stream, but I shall engage with the content here as well 😌 Great information as always Meik. 💝 Now if only official phas community would stop discrediting everything as "hacks".
I had a Banshee that changed rooms, so I don't trust the validity of Banshee's unable to change rooms. Edit: I knew about Goryo, and recently learned that Banshee supposedly can't. The ghost changed rooms on a no evidence run and in turn I ruled out Goryo and Banshee. It was a Banshee.
Did someone use a cursed object that causes room changes, because there is at least 1 cursed object that can cause ghost to change rooms, even a Goryo. It seems to be an unintentional mechanic.
is the banshee being unable to change favorite rooms a recent change? i know for a fact that i had a banshee change favorite rooms when i was playing on no evidence tanglewood right before the ascension update (from the kitchen to the basement) and the statistics after the match confirmed one favorite room change. I'm open to this being outdated information, obviously, im just curious if the banshee was changed recently or if I'm simply misremembering
Testers went way back to check; from what they've found, the Banshee hasn't been able to change rooms since at least 0.5 Cursed Possessions, maybe even longer ago.
@@TheFlipside It is possible for a Banshee/Goryo to change rooms IF a cursed object causes it. (I think Monkey paw is the one that can do it.) So if you or someone else did it, that's maybe what happened.
I think I missed something, why doesn't the banshee have the option of doing a long roam? I assume it's something to do with how the stalk ability is coded so it randomly doesn't change to a room on the other side of the map when a stalkee is wandering around
Potentially. We don't know _why_ it doesn't change rooms, only DK/Lavender would be able to tell. All this video is, is a little explainer about room change, as my streams Mondays to Fridays serve educational ad-free Phas content.
@@BigMeik It's possible that it is an unintentional feature, like a biproduct of the banshee's coding, they found out about it and decided to leave it in, so now it might be intentional. Or it could be an easter egg, something that they put in the game but refuse to acknowledge in hopes of players/ code miners finding it.
As the video says, in order for a ghost to change rooms, it needs to do a long-roam. A Banshee cannot long roam because of its stalking ability, that kinda takes the place.
@@반짝반짝태양권소유자 No, if they were, they would change their favourite room with every single stalk if avg. sanity is 0 % and room change frequency set to high.
This is fascinating! Do we know if this is intended behaviour, or if the banshee will eventually be able to do long roams too? :) (Goryo makes perfect sense, but I can't figure out why Banshee would be unable to long-roam when Phantom can do a player-roam and a long-roam too! Would it be to obfuscate Goryo a bit or something? TYIA for any answers, I find this so amazing, great job testers hahahah)
@BigMeik that makes sense! And thinking a bit more: I could imagine with the rates for long-roam being max 30%, it helps cap room changes at a reasonably low number. In my experience*, ghosts can use abilities relatively often often, so if that triggered this algorithm every time I could imagine either a problem where the ghost room 'chases' a target player around the map - giving the Banshee another way to be figured out - or the mechanic becomes exploitable - being able to somewhat control where the ghost moves its favourite room to! (I can't think of how that would cause a problem immediately, but perhaps future-proofing?) All fun to think about though - thank you for the awesome video, and for responding! :D (*I say this as I have guesses but relatively little actual knowledge on how abilities are triggered hahaha)
If this is true (I have not tested it yet, but let's give the benefit of the doubt) it's obviously an unintended bug, and should be treated (and reported) as such. Good to know, but it should be clarified that's not intended.
Assuming you're talking about the Banshee not being able to change room: whether or not it's intended was not the point of the video. My videos (and mainly live streams) are for educational purposes and go deep into the intricates of the game itself, verifying or debunking things people claim on several platforms. On top of that, reporting bugs in the official Phasmophobia Discord servers has been proven to be a problem. Several valid bug repots have been deemed "not bugs" and there is "no issue" when presented video evidence, yet months later they have admitted that it actually has been an issue. The person "in charge" of the bug reports has also been proven to be an absolute cunt behind the scenes, seen in the most recent video by a former staff member, see here: th-cam.com/video/_-eBIcO4eZw/w-d-xo.html
So, does the average sanity have to be above, below or exactly 85%? And at which point - are we saying that there is then a 15% chance that the room will change?
The 85 % was an example given for the chance. If you're at 100 % average sanity, the check will always return a "no". If you're on 0 % average sanity, it'll always return "yes".
Generally, depending on your game settings, if it's not hunting, the wander state (ghost performing a short-roam or long-roam, if available) will occur multiple times per minute. The entire ghost logic is lots and lots of "if/else" statements, but the wander state is very high up there in terms of likeliness. You can even see how often they roam if you get a ghost in a normal sized room and place motion sensors all around it. They will be triggerd quite often.
First off, a Banshee does not teleport for the stalking; only the Wraith does. Both Phantom and Banshee will have to walk the distance. And yes, that stalking ability is technically not a normal long-roam, so it will never change its favourite room.

Does changing the roam frequency setting to high affect Goryo's ability to roam further than it should?
No, the possible distances for a short vs. long roam are always the same.

Does "new room" mean a room it's never been in all game? Or just a new room from that roam?
