I love this demo! Its great metal but also really reminds me of some early hardcore bands like headcleaners or united mutation. Maybe a few others too.
The opening line: "In this arid wilderness of steel and stone, I raise up my voice so that you may hear. To the East and to the West I beckon. To the North and to the South I show a sign proclaiming: 'Death to the weakling, wealth to the strong.'", a quotation from LaVey. Funnily enough, LaVey, in an interview with the Washington Post, stated that he had a distaste for rock. A farcry from his organ work, I suppose..
Interestingly that quote was borrowed by LaVey from the book Might Is Right written by Ragnar Redbeard you is thought to actually be Jack London. As far I know this has not yet been confirmed but such theories are worthy of speculation to some.
Thank you for sharing! I'm constantly on the lookout for underground Black/Death/Thrash Metal, and this is really cool! I hadn't heard this band before, but I will surely listen to them again. Also, if you have the time, feel free to check out the 2 songs on my channel. They're singles from our upcoming demo. I would greatly appreciate it!
No. Its quite early though. Still other stuff pre dated it like thd band death and i think Necrophagia demos. Also keep in mind that Possessed and the songs off seven churches existed before that actual album came out.. and while Slayer was generally considered thrash, the construst of their early songs are often considered to have a similar sound as these bands' regardless of the vocals
I would actually say this has more of a Death Metal feel then Possessed The whole down tuned, fast, slow you know? But yea Necrophagia was right there too, especially with the lyrical content. I always put Rigor Mortis right up there with Possessed. They are both very unique in sound, and very dark, death metal type lyrics, but still speedy thrash. Let's not forget Bloodfeast, and Hallows Eve! 🤘😝🤘
Even if, Possessed use the term first to describe their music otherwise we didn't even knew what "death metal" probably would be, we'd call bands like decide & morbid angel just really heavy thrash metal or whatever.
Goddamn, this fucking rips!! I've never heard of this SAMHAIN until now. Much better than that douchebag, Glen Danzig's band of the same name. Thanks for sharing this obscure gem!! 💀🤮DEATH METAL ETERNAL🤮💀
Yeah its probably just a coincidence... I love all Glenn Danzig's bands and his Samhain isy favorite...but this is badass band too. If you think about what "Samhain" is and what it means, then its no wonder why its chosen as a band name. Its the ancient Pagan festival where we get our modern day Halloween. Pretty metal So we have Danzig's Samhain, this one, AND Phillip Anselmo (vocalist of Pantera, Down, Scour, and Superjoint) was in a New Orleans metal band called Samhain before he joined Razor White.
@@rufussamsquanch_6547 Seriously guys? The same name, the same lyrical themes, very similar sound, comes out LESS THAN A YEAR after Glenn formed Samhain...and we're going with "it's probably just a coincidence"? Yeah right!
@@EyeMixMusic its named after an ancient holiday based around ghosts and boogeys. This is metal...theres bound to be some overlap somewhere in there. And as far as the sound...i just Dont hear it. Samhain is more deathrock or gothic rock (with some metal sounding guitars) with Glenn's 50's crooner voice and this is more 1st wave black metal. It may not be a coincidence but that's what im going with.
1. Plague of Messiah 0:00
2. Prince of Evil 4:16

my first step into the underground was through this demo. Still great stuff after almost 30 years
I love this demo! Its great metal but also really reminds me of some early hardcore bands like headcleaners or united mutation. Maybe a few others too.
Old school Black metal. Hails
Undoubtedly one of the greatest extreme metal bands that had never released an album.
I came back in time . Only existed on tape .

Muzik yg best...👍
Reminds me of (regardless who was earlier or later) Holocausto, Mutilator, Possessed, Hellhammer/CF, Slaughter, and Sodom
Totally does. A combination of all those thrown in a blender then blasting out some messy crazy madness, it's a good demo for sure.
masterpiece! black metal legend
Black Metal? I would actually say probably one of the first Death metal bands, along with Possessed, and Necrophagia🤘😝🤘

This was released before seven churches. Is this the first death metal?

Sepultura created it as we know it. Just search for 1st demos, nobody was at that level of agression, heaviness and potency around 84/85

💀🤮DEATH METAL ETERNAL🤮💀
Это спидметал, срывающийся в минор, или уже деатх, временами подскакивающий в мажор? )) В любом случае, прикольно.

This is really odd. They stole Samhain's name, they're obviously heavily influenced by Samhain's music...but it's not the real Samhain.
It’s entirely likely they weren’t aware of the Danzig Samhain and took the name on their own accord. This still rips hard regardless
