A really excellent lesson video here. I have been playing classic rock and hard rock for over 60 years and just recently in the last few years got into playing country music. I have always loved listening to many of my favorite country stars from Buck Owens to George Strait, but never played any of it. I have played allot of Ricky Nelson, Buddy Holly, and Elvis songs though. I also have always thought the country pickers were the real guitar players, playing straight through their amps with no effects. Like Marty Stuart, Vince Gill, Roy Clark, and even Glen Campbell. All the distortion and over drive pedals make them hard rockers sound faster than they really are. My compliments and thanks to you for your time and effort here, on a video very well done. This is a beautiful song I have loved for many years. But that B7th is gonna take a little practice for my old butt. I have never to use it...LOL Thanks so much once again

Guess I’ll have to give this a whirl. That damn song brought me to Amarillo 20 years ago this summer. Thanks for the example. I see you get a lot of requests, so I guess I’ll add mine. Not a well known tune, but actually a tribute to your home state (I think), Feels Like Home (New Mexico True), by a group called Richmond. I think it was part of a NM tourism pitch several years back. Real catchy tune, and really conveys a lot of imagery about the Land of Enchantment.
I wouldn’t do that unless you have a whole band backing you. You'd have to stop playing to move it so it would sound terrible if it was just you. I'd just play the other chords like I did in this video.
@@LearnGuitarFavorites in case anyone's wondering, i'm seeing a rake down, then down, up, down, then down with a little emphasis before the change. and there some chords that go for a whole bar, some for 2 bars, and some for a half bar. cheers.
The end bouncing quickly between D E and that dang B7 is pretty tricky, the key change no problem, just the end switching quickly in and out of that dang B7 chord.

When it comes to the key change, would you recommend just quickly placing a capo on the 2nd fret? I’ve even seen the pros do it on stage.
