Hey Sabina. 😊 Gabi from Australia here. I agree totally with practically everything you said on here about "Perfume of the Timeless" (verbal and written). The beginning has the effect of taking you into a movie and along a beautiful journey where all one's emotions can be felt at different sections of the song. It is, indeed, truly breathtaking. Tuomas has, again, imho, composed another gemstone of a track. Looking forward to hearing the album in it's entirety soon and your reactions/opinions. Take care.

Hi, Sabina. As always, I appreciate your reaction to Nightwish, and this is no exception. This is what unconstrained genius looks and sounds like. Tuomas is a visionary and he does exactly what he pleases and goes wherever his muse takes him. It's on us to keep up and follow along. That he leaves many behind is no surprise.
This... this composition is fucking epic. And it's as deep as the Marianas Trench and with more layers than a baklava. You can watch and listen to this 50, 80, 100 times and still be rewarded with new information, new insights.
The owl - avatar of Athena, goddess of wisdom. Floors plunge and deep dive into a blank page of an edition of Darwin’s On the Origin of the Species. The cloud of butterflies represents the myriad of the smallest events upon which our existence turns (the butterfly effect). The butterfly was also regarded as an emblem of the soul by the ancient Greeks. Even the relentless pace of the beat symbolizing the inevitability of the passage of time, the densely layered chorus of our ancestors, the ghostly presentation of the band members. Troy's deeply emotional rendering of the last verse. The ghostly sighs of the chorus at the very end as we embrace the light in our final moments. Layers upon layers and multiple meanings, folks.
Nightwish doesn’t make songs or albums - in recent years, they have published portfolios of art where the nature of our existence is the subject matter. This, it would seem, has been disappointing to a number of the members of the community. I’ve seen so many complaints about this masterpiece coming from people who have little to no understanding of what’s going on. If you’re here for Floor or the head bang, then you’re most likely going to be disappointed and you’ll find lesser amusements available to you elsewhere. Tuomas, Floor and Nightwish doesn’t need your approval. For some, this has moved past your understanding or inclination to understand.
Tuomas is an erudite man with a deep love of this world and for this existence. He is a man hungry for comprehension, for understanding and for love. This existence is awesome if you would only take the time to grasp for understanding. The glittering beauty of mathematics, music as the voice of God, the natural world with its "endless forms most beautiful". It's all there for the beholding. But you have to reach out for it, grasp it, you must have a savage thirst for comprehension as the price of admission.
This quote from Richard Dawkins from The Greatest Show on Earth is the perfect expression of what Tuomas is up to: “After sleeping through a hundred million centuries we have finally opened our eyes on a sumptuous planet, sparkling with color, bountiful with life. Within decades we must close our eyes again. Isn’t it a noble, an enlightened way of spending our brief time in the sun, to work at understanding the universe and how we have come to wake up in it?"

Nightwish dont dissapoint "did you feel the ghost energy song"
I listened to this song many many times by now, and it is one i like to listen to with my headphones or without, its really a good song, when i can do so to me. Some say Floors voice is low in the mix, and i can agree its hard to get all words she sing, but if you look at it soundwise it sounds amazing!! and after a listen or 2, you know most of lyrics, and its no problem at all, its done fully on purpose for the sound experince of it, and Floor being part of the ancestor choir.. cant wait for rest of album!!
Yesterwynde is the opening track on new album, i belive its only like a intro, its a little over 2 min long, #2 on album then is a almost 10 min song, thats proberly another epic!! #3 is where i think they bring in a heavy track, and this Perfume of the timeless is #5.. so i think its gonna be a good mix of heavy songs, Epics, and maybe a full balled.. Perfume of the timeless, well its almonst a ghost energy song right, telling all these ancestors is around in a timeless world, being around you still, and yourvthe perfume, also a message that your existens matters!! i feel tuomas also put in a little message that mankind could do better still, Einstein turn to ape..
The title of the album is a word made by band member Troy Donockley, which Holopainen describes as the feeling of time, history, memory, and being connected to past generation, who have "all had their lives, their ups and downs, and they don't exist anymore, except as atoms scattered all over the universe. And we're going to be in that state pretty soon as well. So that should give you something to think about."
Holopainen has described the album as being about humanism, history, and the inspiration thereof, and that outlook of the album is positive and optimistic ]
Track listing Yesterwynde: release date 20th September 2024
All tracks are written by Tuomas Holopainen.

Nice reaction Sabina, I am glad that you not only enjoyed the brilliance of Nightwish not only audio wise but with the storytelling of the video. Thinking of how many people had to come before us in the last 400 years to have us listening to this track at this moment in time was unreal.

I can't stop thinking that if even one of my ancestors, male or female, had not existed 400 years ago, 1000 years ago, 100,000 years ago, or 1 million years ago, or even if that ancestor had existed but had not met his/her partner (and just that right partner, who is also my ancestor), I wouldn't be here today. That chain has already started before the appearance of man, and such an infinitely long chain could have been broken so easily. My existence today, like yours, is a crazy coincidence.

As always, really enjoyed your reaction to this masterpiece. Love how you commented on Floor's voice being lower in the mix during the chorus and how it felt like she was part of a big choir. That was the intent if the band in the production. To have her be part of that chorus of our ancestors. No one standing out and all being important to our existence and opportunities. For me this has all the things I love about Nightwish. Beautiful music, thought provoking poetic lyrics and incredible storytelling. Like you I love the soft ending part with Troy singing. It feels like it was lifted from and Auri song. I checked your channel and was surprised you hadn't reacted to an Auri song. Auri is a side project of Tuomas, Troy and Johanna Kurkela (Tuomas's wife and a popular Finnish folk/pop singer). It is beautiful atmospheric/folky music and worth checking out. My favorites are The Space Between, Desert Flower, and The Valley.

It has been interesting watching many reactors viewing this video, and react to the wierd or scary images, getting triggered and commenting on their fears. Your deep water reaction was not too strong but others have commented on their fears, and even 1 covered their face, and just peeked out until the diver scenes ended. Lots of reactions and comments about the spider, seems to be a common fear also.

Thanks for your great reaction to this masterpiece. Here's some probability calculations:
Step 1. Probability of a boy meeting a girl to have a romantic relationship with: one in 20,000.
Step 2. Probability of that same boy knocking up that same girl: one in 2000.
Step 3. Probability of right sperm meeting right egg: one in 400 quadrillion.
Step 4. Now lets assume that you have just those 12 generations of ancestors mentioned in the intro to this song. For the probability of every one of those 12 generations of your ancestors having reproduced successfully with right sperm having met the right egg is (20k x 2k x 400 quadrillion) to the 12th power. Going backwards in time with even more generations of your ancestors, we soon reach a probability of 1 divided by the number of atoms in the entire universe. This makes each one of us a unique miracle.
P.S. Most, if not all, of the free diving sections are taken from Guillaume Néry's short film "One Breath Around The World", which you can watch on his YT channel.

Any that are pre nuclear bomb the metal is worth SO MUCH because it's got no nuclear fallout so it's prized to make medical equipment & of course devices to measure for radiation. So people are diving & scavenging. Which isn't ideal as most wrecks are really graves so should be key alone so they're watching from satellite these sites

4094 is not representing the next power of two but instead the sum of the previous numbers displayed (total ancestors)

@@sabina1118 I wish I knew of a way to rid you of these pests, Sabina. But let me offer you this, because I am sure that you will appreciate it. Listen to Dianne van Giersbergen's Symphonic Tragedy. You won't believe your ears. She is another one of those Dutch cosmic talents.

Look it's real simple out of the entire collection of all the albums Nightwish has produced I probably only don't like three songs.... only three songs, and that's fucking unbelievable, so this song makes only number four, but there's nothing to it, the videos cool enough, but the song creates no energy, no passion, it's just not an exciting Nightwish song, after waiting this long for another album and if they play it live it's a fucking waste of 8 minutes when they could be playing something else like song of myself which they never do anymore

There are certainly some things to criticize that you don't do. You're welcome to do that, you know? The voice mix is terrible, even if it was the intention. And Tuomas' eternal evolution topic becomes very boring and predictable.
I can't help but feel, and it hurts me, that on this song they sound more like an aspiring, ambitious Nightwish wannabe band than Nightwish itself; one that's knocking on the door of promotion from the Championship rather than the 28 times Premier League title holders. .the vocal mix is terrible even though it was intended that way. Bad choice. Moreover, the composition has become a kind of compilation single, everything has already been heard from Nightwish. A dime a dozen, nothing special.

Says a lot about your life then, if you spend your time watching reactions to what you consider ‘pish boring middle of the road’ bands!.
Apart from proving a lack of musical appreciation, you clearly need to find something useful to fulfil your life, rather than wasting it with sad trolling!
