If I recall, the soundtracks between the two mixes well together. The games are similar in gameplay to me. Update: I just found out both games were made by Shinobu Yagawa, so that makes sense.

Well, if i recall correctly (And please correct me if i'm wrong), the Genesis has a sound chip that is made by Yamaha and both the games used in the mashup DID have Yamaha chips in their respective arcade systems.. Albeit different ones. Still that'd make you techinically correct since (As far as i know) they all use FM Synth. The main difference is that the sound chip from the Genesis is more limited, due to it being primarily used for the Genesis and some computer systems (Though, it did get an arcade variant, which, was also used in later models of the Genesis.) But in this case, it's definitely not from the Genesis specifically. Correction: The sound chip used for the arcade system that Ibara was on is very different and is not made for FM Synth specifically as it is from the PS2/Dreamcast era. I'm not sure if it can replicate FM Synth or not, however, as information on these chips is very hard to find.
