    Hi
In this video I will take you through the process of reset, (also known as Tech2 reset), and reprogramming of the engine ECU on a Vauxhall Astra H 2004.
You can follow the second part of this steps, if for example, you are replacing the engine ECU with a second hand one, or even with a new ECU, although in this last case you might need to program the calibration software.
    Hope you enjoy the video.
Any questions or comments please put them below.
Like always, thank you for watching!

Thank you for sharing your knowledge with ignorant people in this field.
I wonder if I can get your opinion also...
Astra H 1.9 cdti engine light appeared one day and car went very slow. I checked codes and we're related with egr valve. Took it off, cleaned it, placed it back on (didn't connect the plug for educational purpose). Engine started normally and died after 2 seconds. It never started again plugged in or off. Cranking sounded different, much weaker like if an electronic device was preventing it to work properly. Found a similar problem online which was resolved by switching off the battery for 30 min. After doing the same, engine never cranked again. Spanner light is on and fuel pump relay is clicking like crazy with fuel pump doing some noise too. If egr plug is disconnected, the relay is quiet and also the pump but nothing happens either. Tried other relays, same situation.
I've got the op com now. Maybe the immobilizer is on?
    Thank you

Hi, enjoyed the easy to follow clip. Thankyou.
Issue: I have a Corsa VXR and need to replace the existing ECU which has been remapped and have it replaced with a non remapped donor Corsa VXR ECU. The reason being is that the car failed an MOT on emissions with the remapped ECU so, i have been advised by a few mechanics that the lambda and catalytic converter are all in working order and that the easiest way to try and resolved the emissions issue is to install a donor non remapped ECU.
Question: Can the one car key be programmed to operate both the remapped and standard ECU (to allow alternating between ECU's) or does each ECU require individual key transponder programming? I guess what i am asking is can i swap ECU's as a plug and play after programming and use the one car key?

    1. Program High Speed CAN Bus Configuration
    2. Program Mid Speed CAN Bus Configuration
    3. Program Low Speed CAN Bus Configuration
And what about Steering input sensitivity?

      You absolutely correct...
Although all the things you have mentioned are more crucial in cars with more stuff installed.
In this case, the car was quite basic, without any extras...

Hi mate, yours is a very clear and informative video.
I have a a similar Astra H with dead CIM and ECU and other DTCs.
Instead of taking it to auto electrician I bought exactly same hail damage Astra which is a total loss which drives pretty well to use as a donor car.
I have got Autel Maxi Syd Pro scanner too. Just in case.
My plan is to swap the ECU, CIM, REC, UEC and use the key from the donor car.
Is there anything else apart from above parts that I have to swap to get the car running?

Hi, Great work on your Video's, nice and simple.
I have a a couple of questions regarding the ECU on a 2004 Astra.
I changed the whole Ecu kit from a scrap yard.
Ecu, key reader and transponder chip, I have the opcom software and carprog.
Are I better to put the original key reader back in and reset the scrapyard ecu, then program it to the original key reader.
I got both security codes via the carprog so that is no problem.
I could leave the scrapyard Ecu as the car is running fine, but I want to make another key, I have a brand new transponder chip, but also I have two original chips with the original ecu set.
So I guess my question is, should I reset the scrapyard ecu, put the cars original key reader back in and reprogram that ecu to the original key reader, this will let me use the two original key chips again.
    Any advice would be great.
    Steve. 😃

The problem is with closing the doors, when i put the key on start, it works fine, when i turn on engine and turn it off, the central lock doesn't work, one solution to repair this to the next start is unpin the battery.. Do you have any solution, should i restart my ECU ?

Any ideas where to start, I checked most of the wires to the ECM but I dnt want to strip all the looms to look for shorts. With this I have diagnosed faults with my VVTi system and have replaced all crank pulleys/sensors etc relating to the VVTi but i still get the same 'Exhaust Camshaft Position' error. At the last MOT my local garage (whom a trust) said that it seems that there is a fault with the ECU. The car runs okay but always in 'limp mode' with the car & spanner light on.
After watching your video i plan to get a reset or blank ECU and reprogram it with my Op-Com to work in my car. Will I need to save or back-up anything from my original ECU before i can re-program the replacement?

That code refers to a code for the alternator light wire... if that makes sense...
Double check connections, and that the alternator you installed is good...
That however, should not prevent the car from starting...
      Something else is causing it...

Can I then change the odometer value for my Astra H if I reset the ECU?
If I try to change the odometer value it says that the value can be changed only once.
It lets me to enter a new value but if I press OK the value on the odometer doesn't change.
I guess the previous holder of my car had already changed the value once before I bought it.
May be that is the reason why I can't change it now.
    What do you mean?

    • @berczigabor
      @berczigabor 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

The message is somewhat misleading. What it actually means that you can only change it as long as it's in factory state (ie. odometer is actually 0 or at least below 50-100 kms/miles, depends on factory and model). But once the odometer has some in it, you can't change it at all, or only set it to a higher value - regardless of whether it has been change any time. Of course there are tools that will allow you to change the odometer even in this state, by circumventing the factory constraints.

  • @berczigabor
    @berczigabor 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

So, you're still using the security code from the original, defect ECU (ie. that came from factory with the car you're sitting in now), even when the ECU in the car has been replaced and the actual one is now from another car (which obviously had a different security code originally)? You don't have to use the security code from the new ECU, but that of the old one?

      Hi
The original pin of a replacement ecu is needed in order to reset the ecu...
Once that is done, you need the pin from the car you want to install it on, in order to program it...
You can't use a different pin to program it...
      Hope it makes sense...👍

The old ecu does not need reset, the second hand ecu that you are going to install needs though.
You also need the pin code from your car, and the pin code from the car you are taking the replacement ecu from... or have the tools to get hold of the pin.

Have you checked wiring, connectors, fuses, earth points etc...
If your problem is indeed the ecu, when you put the second hand one you will have communications... even though you will not be able to start the engine due to the immobilizer.
If you still have no comms then your issue is another one...
