      Garden Love We are Central Coast, California and our growing zone is 9b-10a. I have a Meyer lemon that I’ve been growing in a casual fan shaped espalier for a few years now, and it’s working great. I love medieval/renaissance gardens, so this winter I bought two apples and a pear that I want to try a more formal espalier with. 😊 Your garden is so beautiful. Thank you for sharing it with us.

    I’m impressed in how quickly the transplanted Jujube tree responded with vibrant sprouts. In a month or 2 is should have beautiful foliage. Providing a beautiful addition to Your garden. I must admit that I haven’t ever had a Jujube (YET)

      I like "YET!" LOL this is my first jujube I love it, it gave me some fruit 2 years ago. But just like everything else in my garden this tree needed to get transplanted a long time ago as you can see in the video it was root bound and since I couldn't water often most of the fruit fell off last year but the year prior I tasted the fruit and it was sooo yummy.

    They say to use a 30 gal container for a Jujube, once it has outgrown its pot. I have a 2 yr old Li Jujube I bought 6 months ago. It's in a 12 gal pot but will work up to the 30 gal container. We can't plant it in the ground because of the invasive root system. It flowers but so far no fruit, looked like a stick in Winter but spring came and it grew beautiful shiny green leaves and has little flowers all over it. They say not to eat the first crop so it can put its energy in growing, but can save 3 or 4 of the fruit to sample.

      This tree has tons of fruit on the tree now. I need to do an update video! how is your tree now that it warm up? this tree is so happy in its new container. you are right about the roots. that the same reason why I kept it in a container and put a stepping stone under it. I think you will do great. If I have to choice between an apple or a lemon wow that would be rough. Ask yourself which one do you enjoy more. Which one is more expensive to purchase at the store. What zone are you in? 8 and above means your citrus will do great year round. Apple tree go dormant so they can survive colder weather. I personally find growing citrus alot easier to grow. What lemon were yiu thinking about.

    Hi there. I have had my jujube tree planted in ground for about 4 years. Every year it puts out little branches and then the branches die in the winter and that’s it and then returns again next spring and same process. No fruit and no flowers. Any advice for me?

    • @GardenloveHomestead
      @GardenloveHomestead  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That really sucks! Is it planted alone or is there trees near it? Is it really windy there? Do you get pollinators?

    • @moniquemonicat
      @moniquemonicat 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I'm guessing it's simply not getting enough sun. Hard to say why because it depends on your climate. What is your climate like? Jujube loves hot hot sun sun, they say pick the sunniest place in the garden and put it there. Not warm but HOT and SUNNY. Here in Tucson desert they grow very fast and flower. Baking in the hot sun other plants will wilt, but not Jujube. Mine is a Li Jujube it's 2 years old and already flowering but no fruit yet. Also, do you have bees? Have you tried making honey mixed with water and lightly spraying the buds? Or plant fragrant bee-attracting plants by it.

    I am in Pakistan and its mulberry season right now lots of mulberries have grown on a tree in the park next to our house but I dont know how to grow it in pots bcz the tree is huge and do I have to take a cutting from that tree now and plant it in a container for fruiting (what to do I know nothin)plz I also want mulberries in a container
    Disclaimer: I can easily get a cutting bcz the tree is just steps away from the home and its fruiting also and it has black and red mulberries but small in size.

    • @GardenloveHomestead
      @GardenloveHomestead  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, honostly i would take several cuttings about 12 inch long. Than you can do several methods. 1. Put several cuttings in a pot with a soil that drains well but hold moisture. And out them somewhere that its bright but no direct sun nor afternoon sun. 2. Cut smallest cutting and ziploc bags add soil to each bag, make small drainage holes to the bag and stick a cutting to each bag. Than put them into a clean plastic container somewhere where there is sun. Water when needed and wait for roots. Also you have to wait for it to be in the 80 degree. Check out my passion fruit propagating and my fig cutting propagating video's. Look forward to hear back from you.

My silk hope and dwarf everbearing roots very easily from cuttings but my white and red Pakistani mulberries can only be grafted to another rootstock. You stated the fruit on the tree is small so it's probably not the Pakistani mulberry with the long fruit, but a different variety like perisan mulberry. Since you have easy access to cuttings it won't hurt to try and grow it in different ways. Just make sure you don't let the cuttings try out my covering them in a plastic bag and use rooting hormone if you can go additional help with rooting
