I'm not a huge Katy Perry fan, but man, I love that song!! She sung that in front of an audience of US military personnel in a more lively and energetic way that had the service men and women dancing and really enjoying it. That performance was set to another fireworks display in New York City for the 4th of July celebrations a few years ago. Oh, and yes, those are real fireworks.
I was amazed at how awesome the music was. The right visuals with the right song really does make a difference. I'm not surprised that they put a big amount of budget into the fireworks as a way of both celebrating a new year and having a new president. Though, I do wonder how all the animals, dogs and cats reacted to such an intense display of fireworks. I know my dogs would have absolutely hated hearing all those fireworks going off. Ah well, still an beautiful song. :)

The message, the lyrics, the music video, the instrumentals, the production, the impact, the sales, the records broken, the music video, and now, this live performance -- they all just go together to make Firework a timeless classic. I have watched it ten times and I still get the chills!
I think what made this song even more powerful for people is not just the the obvious vocals and visuals, but the timing and meaning behind this specific event. Us Americans have felt so tumultuous and downtrodden over the past four years, and this day was meant to be a new beginning for our country. (I am in tears just writing this now.) This song was the piece to rejuvenate us and bring us hope in what felt like lost darkness for many of us, like the finale of an epic movie. Katy had a crucial job to do, and she nailed it!
I'm not American, I am across the ocean in Portugal, and while watching this live online and with with an american and a german friends we were so emotional. It was an amazing inauguration, powerful, meaningful, so full of joy and dignity. Perfect. It was sad to know that at that moment half the american people refused to watch it and see how brilliant it was, how Great America felt again.
It is really a crime that Firework didn't win Song or Record of the Year at Grammys but who cares? Katy Perry does not need a Grammy to be validated as an artist. She is great with or without a Grammy.

@@simmy1251 This is a sign of Katy's immense technical improvement 🤍🤍🤍 The other reason for her darker voice is her pregnancy. I'm assuming you know this already but, if not, during pregnancy, women's voices darken/deepen (sometimes it's noticeable, sometimes it's not) because of increased pressure on the vocal cords, which also makes it harder for them to sing. But, somehow, a lot of singers (including Katy) are able to sing just fine even while carrying a baby. That difficulty goes away after giving birth but the darkened voice is permanent.
I cried when Biden was declared president and I cried even harder when watching the inauguration and the performances. it was a feeling of happiness and so much relief. I was full on bawling my eyes out 😭😭😭

When she used her falsetto at "fourth of july" that's why I fell in love with her!! Very few singers have a falsetto that's as warm and angelic as hers. And the spin she gave on the second prechorus is just perfection. VOCALS. She's always been good, her 2008 acoustic performances are amazing, but when it comes to bigger than life and massive events her voice wavers from maybe too much adrenaline or nerves, but this performance was her cleanest and most improvisational!! SHE"S A TRUE VOCALIST.
Honestly as an American after suffering 4 years under Trump, when I saw this at the end of the night I cried. It gave me so much hope for the future.🇺🇸💙💙

There’s a line during the second verse that goes “If you only knew what the future holds, after a hurricane comes a rainbow.” Thought that line was significant and relevant. Trump was the hurricane, Biden is the rainbow.
