    I’m so happy you’re doing these kinds of videos again. Don’t get me wrong, I love your travel ones too because I get to live vicariously through you. But I always really enjoyed your vlogs too. I feel like it’s were we really get to know you and see your amazing sassy personality that reeled me in in the beginning.
    I also want to say that I am happy that you’re doing well in Taiwan! It’s a country that never really crossed my mind but seeing these videos has definitely put it on the map for me. Such a beautiful place!

    Wow I miss these kind of vlogs from Japan. It’s the blast from the past. Honestly I’ve seen you grown and I feel like I need to be like you and not be affairs to try something new and out of your comfort zone. Also looking at the healthcare system rating. I’m surprised Japan is the lowest while the UK is higher than Canada. I am grateful to the free health care here in the uk

      Only on that chart bc it takes in multiple factors. Japan ranks lower on the scale bc many of their machines and practices/methods are too out of date compared to other countries.

    Two apps for traditional characters I swear are Pleco (you can add the traditional characters and see both the simplified and traditional characters, zhuyin, pinyin and English when looking up new characters) and Tofu learn which is a flash card software similar to Quizlet but has you practice writing new characters with correct stroke order! Wishing you all the luck and loving these vlogs!

    My boyfriend lives in Hsinchu and he mentioned the water in Hsinchu is quiet different from Taipei’s. He gets hair loss issues and his clothes getting stiff since he used their water to do laundry and wash hair (but the doctor said pressure in workplace could also be one of the factor for losing hair). Some of his colleagues recommended him to install bathroom water filter.

    I hope your scalp gets better soon! Another thing to keep in mind is that in Taiwan it's important to blow dry your hair so that your scalp doesn't stay wet too long, since it's so humid here. In the US I always air dried my hair, but in Taiwan it is easier to get scalp problems because of air drying. Also we sweat a lot more here so our scalps get ickier!

    • @LayersOfJenn

    There is a bookstore near MTC (Mandarin training center) in Taipei, near Guting station, where students go to purchase their books. They have a lot of readers in traditional. They have these great books for learners where they only use like the first 500 characters (for beginner or early intermediate) to write all of the stories. I really enjoyed a couple of them!

    • @thehighsandluos
      @thehighsandluos ปีที่แล้ว

Was it your first time at the market? It was organized a little late this year - it's usually A LOT better and bigger. There are some venue issues (there used to be a sizable parking area that is now farmland) so I'm hoping that they can find a new location with the kind of parking that they used to have. It's a major event for South Africans in Taiwan and people come from all over Taiwan. I hope the Easter Market is better. The weather will definitely be warmer!

    Wow, that was so inexpensive for the doctors appointment and meds😮. Even though out medical is free some specialists charge an introduction fee of around $20-40. but not many. Where they get you is the treatments, the drug companies and pharmacies are thugs, charge sooo much for meds that we now have to shop around if we actually have to pay for them. If you work you no doubt have a drug plan that pays for most of it.
    I hope the meds help, my Mum had that at the very back of her hair and the itch nearly drove her crazy and the “snow” was worse than dr scalp as it was more chunky. She hated it but hated to use the medications because she said it made her hair look greasy. Good Luck🤞. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year 🥰🙋🏼‍♀️

    So sorry for the rude people on the road. His karma will come soon. Taiwanese people are generally kind and sweet until we are driving any kind of vehicle on the roads. 🤦🏻‍♂️ Traffic issues are actually one serious social issue people in Taiwan are battling. Some other countries even notify their citizens to be extra careful when walking around the streets in Taiwan because even the nicest Taiwanese can suddenly become the biggest asshole on the planet when they get their hands on wheels. Unfortunately, no good solutions come through yet😢...

Hope you feel less lonely and more motivated by now (maybe it was Christmas that make you miss being surrounded by friends and family🥲) As you mentioned you almost didn't travel alone before when you were in Japan, traveling alone in Taiwan seems to be a new chapter. @@LayersOfJenn it's funny people love to say every country but the U.S. is perfect with healthcare, and anyone saying otherwise doesn't care about Americans. 🤦‍♀️ Same with talking about what to do. Like most in the U.S. can agree the healthcare system in the U.S. is broken & that's it. People are just going to argue who's right/ correct solution etc.

    damn your dr visit and meds were so cheap, seeing the dr is free in the uk but we have to pay for meds and it costs £9.65 per ITEM, regardless of the # of pills or whatever so it's really freaking annoying if you have to 'try' a med and it costs that much for like 7 pills when you could get a months worth for the same price D: other times you get 1 med but bc it's technically made up of 2 then you have to pay twice. all that to say your meds would've cost like £40. they frame it as a 'contribution to the NHS, not the cost of the meds' which is just fucking bullshit bc if they charged for the actual meds it'd be cheaper D:
