As a composer, I am struck by the richness of the melodic development and how the melodies rise in each of the movements. Everything is grounded in a deep sense of peace and joy, both so painfully needed at this present time. Thank you for sharing. Are the accompaniments we hear by Abbé Potiron?
Thanks Gilles, we tried our very best that day. I was raised playing Potiron! But nowadays I improvise my own harmonisation mainly when accompanying gregorian chant. Best wishes
Lovely rendition of Cum Jubilo ! And what a spectacular church; no one could doubt that this is a house of God! IMHO, Mass IX is easily one of the, if not THE, most edifying of all the Gregorian Mass settings--and surprisingly easy to sing. The Sanctus is especially so. I have also had the joy of singing Duruflé's "Messe Cum Jubilo," which is explicitly based on this setting. There is a video of this entire Celebration elsewhere on TH-cam. I can't recall how I found it, but it is worth the effort to find. The Dutch hymns were also exquisite. Many thanks to TradOrganist for posting this. It was an enormous blessing to me.
