The satellite connection was a godsend especially during Hurricane Beryl all our towers were down and my mom was not able to get ahold that's where satellite came in.

I sent a video I took at Disney World and was able to send it to my friend who used a S21 Ultra and it still retained its high quality! I’m happy for this, now I can swap back between my OnePlus Open and my wife can’t complain she cant send me videos of my son’s swim class 😅
People on the Android platform have to be using google messages or it won’t work. For example if they’re using the native Samsung message app it won’t work, as will only send as an SMS. Most of the people I know using android device use google messages and it works fine, but the ones that don’t, it doesn’t work.

RCS only kicks in when you're texting with Android users or if iMessage is unavailable for some reason. It functions similarly to how SMS/MMS works on the iPhone.
iMessage is used between iPhone users. RCS for Android users and probably used if someone disables iMessage for whatever reason. Then SMS as a fallback.
RCS on iOS does NOT support reactions. What you‘re seeing is the good old SMS reaction text parsing happening (that both iOS and Google Messages added a while ago). It, for example, does not work when both sides have different locales set (or does not work in some languages).
The difference between IPhone and Android is when you have an IPhone you still need to go to Android to do certain things. But when you just have an Android you never need an IPhone for anything. Just my opinion from personal experience 💯

I don’t think I’ll upgrade my 15p befor Siri gets better. As AI are the most important addon to get my daily tasks done. Even dictating txt is tricky with Siri. AI is now the new foundation and everything else for a 15p user is secondary.plz keep us updated on this matter. Rags

Long overdue. That being said, most people in the UK don’t use the messages app for general texting and likely won’t for group chats. WhatsApp has the monopoly over here.

When we do a scheduled message, will it be sent even if we lose service? Seems like it should be uploaded as soon as you schedule it, and then it would send at the scheduled time as long as you don’t cancel it, regardless of your service. But I haven’t found any info to confirm if it works like this. I’m thinking for camping etc. schedule an emergency text along the lines of: “if you receive this text, something happened. Etc etc”
I was excited for RCS when I got the beta because 90% of my coworkers and friends use Android phones. Come to find out though is they don’t have RCS on they’re phones so why all the hype ??

I am running IOS 18 Development Beta 8 and I don't have that RCS toggle to switch on - I'm in the UK so wonder if it's something to do with that
maybe it's dependent on your carrier - although most UK networks do support RCS

I jumped to the S23 Ultra last year. Used it solely for that time. But opted to come back to Apple. For me it was smoother.
