    The video you got this from is one of my favorites for learning prepositions, but it was a little fast, thanks for breaking it down for me!

      Same for me! It took me forever to learn them off that video, so I thought I'd share with others. :)

    Love it!! In my house we skip the intro words "papayat.. toot toot toot!" and we substitute the definition memorized week one, singing: " A Preposition (toot too toot!) relates a noun (toot too toot) or pronoun to (toot too toot!) another word: About, Above, Across..."

    Are these actual sign language motions?

    • @easyhomeschool9031
      @easyhomeschool9031  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Jane! Sorry for the delayed response! I did not make up these motions, but I did study ASL in college! Some of them are ASL or very similar to the ASL sign. There are a few reasons why these motions can't all be in ASL. For one, many of these words would have the same sign in ASL. The reason is that in English, we have many different words to convey the same idea: below/beneath, in/inside, atop/on/onto, out/outside, over/across, past/beyond, regarding/concerning, through/throughout, to/toward... An English speaker (including a deaf person) will see shades of meaning between these words, but in ASL, the signer is creating a picture of meaning, and these differences tend to get intentionally left out unless they are important to communicate. Also, because ASL is picture/image-focused, the sign for these words may differ completely, depending on the context. For example, are you talking about a book ON the table? Or a person ON a horse? Totally different signs for those, because it's a very different image! Hope this is interesting to you and not pedantic. :) The short answer is yes, some ASL, but mostly they're just for fun.
