Found myself binge-watching the late Senator's interviews and Senate hearings and I can't help myself but to cry in gratitude. I never regret voting for her when she ran for presidency.
Missing her brilliance and strong conviction. I hope and pray na sana marami pang taong tulad niya na talagang fearless na i-expose ang katotohanan.
For me, she will always be an epitome of what a Senator and public servant should be.
Nakakalungkot lang din kasi na parang bumababa ang quality ng mga nanunungkulan (feeling ko lang naman 'to). I've always felt like that the politics in the Philippines has become a joke nowadays. And as a result, our nation perishes. The corruption has infested this nation.
I know na mahaba-haba ang lalakbayin natin para talagang masupil ang lahat ng ito and I pray na mag-raise pa ang Diyos ng mga taong walang takot na tatayo sa katuwiran.

I think we're still lucky that we have these videos of Sen Miriam. Even if she's not physically with us anymore, her recorded and uploaded interviews will be a legacy. Her insights and the knowledge she shared during her interviews are still relevant and helpful up to this day. She was really a force to reacon.

Former president Marcos was more brilliant than Miriam.. Marcos is still the undefeated bar exam topnotcher #1 lawyer in the Philippines. Marcos had photographic memory, and Miriam said so, becoz she made a 20++ pages speech for Marcos on the same day and Marcos recited the whole speech a few hours later all from his memory..

Karen Davila, any excess of funds at year end must be return to the bureau of treasury, by law (with some percentages cash back (some discreet), not sure if still that works). But there are cases that some find ways to use it as benefits. What the late MDS said was true and is still working. MOOE funds are sometimes realigned as benefits (basta silent lang) or used on other programs not found in proposed annual budget ( annual Govt Approved Appro.) it was defended in congress. If unused the following year, their release will have cuts on the basis of returns and they will be grilled again to depend to get the same appropriations.
The very reason some government offices have more benefits than other government agencies. Technically, it is a clear form of corruption. Commission on audit, there are some who are silenced for some reasons like power and money.
If the government will push fiscal transparency, the public will see that the PHL is not really cash trapped.

She is a Constitutional Law expert & published volumes of annotations of the 1987 Constitution. In one of her speech that I listened to in the past, the late MDS considered it to be her bread & butter.
I'm saving wads of cash so I can buy her authored books on the annotations of the 1987 Constitution. I think it's worth acquiring it for me & my family to read!

Miriam Defensor Santiago gets criticisms of having mental difference or that she is crazy, some also say that she is "balimbing" with her political affilitians, some also say that she is already bad tempered but they can never deny the fact that she was never criticized for being a "CORRUPT" Senator! She's very much "sane"..i heard her speak at PNU and she said yan ang tina tag ng kalaban sa kanya, pero in person ang friendly, mabait at humble sya , so witty got lot of sense of humor...you never get bored hearing here.. It's 2024, and I still feel inspired by the legacy of Miriam Defensor Santiago, the late Philippine senator. I often find myself revisiting her speeches and interviews, amazed by her intelligence, wit, and courage. Even though she's no longer with us, her words and ideals continue to resonate with me. Miriam's tireless fight against corruption and her fierce commitment to justice are values that I hold dear, and they keep me motivated to advocate for a better future. I know that I'm not alone-many others share this admiration for her, and her impact will be felt for generations to come. It's an honor to keep her memory alive.
I was not in the country during the remarkable and challenging life of Miriam Santiago in the Senate.
Watching this interview made me think of what a brilliant star she was, defying the traditional role perceived on Filipino women.
It could have been a privilege of knowing her in the light of current political issues, especially of the poor performances of senators (except for Hontiveros) today.
Certainly, it is far, too far, to reach for anyone to determine her quality of work. Sadly, that can't be compared nor replicated.
Kudos to Karen Davila's line of questioning to squeeze the juice out of her.

This is how political figures in the philippines should be especially in the federal government. We cant have people running our legislation without any credible background or education to back it up with. All judiciary, legislative, and executive offices must be obtained by people who actually know what they are doing. There are a lot of people especially in the philippines who are fit to be in the poltics. I live in the United States right now and I noticed how people without a degree are the ones taking hold in political offices such as Grace Poe, Alma Moreno, etc. Whats the point of students taking Political Science, or Law as their major if you dont even need a degree anyway. Just compare Alma Moreno's interview with Senator Miriam Santiago's. The difference is colossal because Senator Santiago knows everything that shes talking about and has to deal with. Her Credibility is at its finest as well for having multiple degrees both in the US and the Philippines.
I hope and pray that people should treat candidates for senators as "APPLICANTS".
Just like Senator Santiago said during her final debate, President/Senator should have academic excellence, professional excellence and moral excellence.
Everyone should search online for their profile and see if you can HIRE or FIRED.
