The look on his face around 12 mins when he realized maybe it’s a good idea to be able to tune a modular system outside of absolute a440. If you’ve ever collaborated with guitarists with intonation issues you are going to want to be able to offset at times…. As someone who tours with modular systems I can’t imagine not being able tune (or de tune) my instrument… love the concept! Would be so convenient for tuning live!! but a tune offset control seems like a must with any flexible system..Especially considering how many folks are stoked to use a432 these days…. I definitely have had multiple collaborators wanting to use a432 having a modular system than I can’t collab in a432 seems a bit shortsighted to me…

If your sequencer can do your required tuning, this will send the tuning the sequencer sets. This appears just to be a quick transport protocol for stable pitch commands across multiple channels. The presenter admits he doesn't know the details of transposition function.

Perhaps… I use Social Entropy Engine & the Novation SL MKiii for sequencing. Neither have a global tune offsets… ( the novation can calibrate a single oscillator per voice and perhaps that would work but seems a clunky way for an otherwise seemingly elegant system. I would just like to think in system focusing on polyphonic action I would hope I wouldn’t have to rely on external means to offset the global tuning…. other than that If I need to do an offset I have to apply it via CV control in my modular with a precision adder… and I’m sure there must be sequencers than can apply an offset in the box… or maybe the Cirklon sequencer could do a global offset…. But that really seems like it should be done in the modules taking care of the tuning IMO. I love the concept but if I had to rely on my sequencers I’d be hosed… unless I brought a computer or purchased more prediction adder modules. All do able just not ideal IMO in a new system design.

Quick question if it’s 40 times faster than midi and we are using midi to control it does that mean it’s exactly the same as midi ?

So 2 cables then? And I still have no idea what he’s on about they need to get someone who can explain this clearly

I’m basically waiting to see how this standard plays out before entering eurorack. Edit: wait, nevermind - after hearing “when was the last time you heard microtuning on the radio?” I mean…does he think people are using his system to make Doja Cat records??

Deleting 1V input misses the music....

The name (Art) is pretentious. As is the spokesperson in the video. 1V/Octave dreadful? Eurorack wild west? You can stop right there pal.
It seems to me that nobody needs this. It's basically MIDI with extra steps and more limitations. If you're a MIDI user you've already got something better. And if you're a 1V/Octave enjoyer you've already got something better, too.

Geez 440hz only, no microtuning so no pitch bend I guess? 🫣

This is something I will certainly avoid. Thank you, sonicstate
