  • Returning for the second time, Womanity is an all-day festival, which seeks to provide a forum for young people of all genders. The aim is to come together to create, learn and discuss gender-based issues, which affect their day-to-day lives.
Hosted this year by Modern Art Oxford, the day will be split into two sections: live music and interactive talks.
Womanity sat down with a group of young men and women to find out what issues they think are important and interesting, the talks will cover a wide area of subjects ranging from music, art, education, culture and gender. These interactive talks allow the audience to participate as much, or as little as they are comfortable with.
Later an eclectic mix of live music comes courtesy of Duotone, Rainbow Reservoir, Tamara Parsons-Baker, I.M. Khalifa, Mary James, and the Young Women’s Music Project.
The Young Women’s Music Project’s director Zahra Tehrani, has been working closely with a group of young women over a period of years. The initial idea for Womanity emerged from a series of discussions about their hopes and aspirations. Whilst the focus of the project is to empower young women through music, the event branches out from these ideas to explore a wider selection of cultural issues, in the hope of bringing together members from all parts of our community.
Womanity is about celebration, education and unity.
