@@Henrix1998 I saw a video of a pro swimmer (can’t remember the name) who intentionally dolphin kicked the entire way underwater, in a backstroke race. So he did it with his face, facing the ceiling. But anyways.. he basically destroyed everyone by miles lol and then got DQ’d. I’d be interested to see how fast swimmers can go if they were allowed to do this.
@@Henrix1998 15m limit for other strokes but not for freestyle. That's why it's called freestyle..only thing limiting Phelps going further underwater here is oxygen levels.
I still say this is his most dominant performance at any Olympics. It is unheard of for a guy to win the 200m free by 2 seconds. Simply unreal. It almost makes me wish he chose to swim the 400m free as well. I wonder if he could've won the gold in that event. I know he already had an unbelievably heavy load with his 8 events, but it really makes me wonder.
You can see just how much of a beast he was from that start alone. 10 seconds in and already a good half body length in front of the field. If we ever see someone as dominant as him again i will be shocked
He does that so he can do more underwater dolphin kicks after the turn. You are allowed up to 15 meters of subkicks after each turn. Going deeper helps you stay underwater longer and makes you go faster. If he didn't go as deep, he'd surface too quickly. I wish there was a 50 meter underwater dolphin kick event in the olympics. Those times would be crazy. It's probably not an event for safety reasons. Training for an event like that could be dangerous.
Майкл - Мировая звезда и легенда. Техника на высшем уровне, и он без всякого доппинга побеждал., такой размах рук, работа мышц и быстрые лёгкие движения, свободное дыхание. His turns were absolutly insane. Before that race freestyle swimmers normally dolphin kicked the first 4-5 meters, but Phelps used the whole 12,5m at every turn - insane.
